Awesome stuff! I, too, have built a few GKW kits. To help bring out the maple top grain more, I have used a washed coat of either darker color of the stain/dye ( I prefer dye) or even a washed black, and then apply the actual color coat of dye or stain. For my outer finish, I like regular gloss lacquer, and I apply it by hand, not spray, except for the headstock where I do a logo by hand. To make the lacquer easier to apply, I dilute the lacquer slightly. For expanding holes for CTS pots, I use a hand reamer. It allows you to custom open that hole microcosmically to be more accurate. Great sounding axe, sir, and a nice rig to run it thru!!!! Good job!!

Wow! This is an awesome video man! How could we have missed this. Thank you so much for the review and good job fixing the neck pocket. And yes! Wood does expand due to humidity and temperature plays a vital role in storing these guitars since the pores are still open and not finishied then this package had to travel overseas. Thank you for your consideration and kudos to that DIY fix, it was spot on. Loving the gretsch build bro! You're the one who nailed it really well so far. We'll be intouch soon if we plan on a collab, you're definitely going to be on that list. Rock on dude!

I think you can solve the noise problem by grounding the wire harness to the bigsby.

The Minwax Wipe-on Poly works better than anything I’ve found for guitars.
It’s super easy to work with and is really forgiving, not to mention you can sand between coats if needed, and it’s a breeze to build it up as much or little as you like.
Plus it comes in Gloss and Satin.

Brian Seltzer would be proud. I loved the sound of his guitar. The Stray Cats were my favorite band in the 80's.

Hello sir. Looks like a very nice build and this video gives people an idea how involved just the wiring of a hollow body guitar is. I only play archtop guitars like this one you did. I do my own electrical repairs and mods and I know from experience it takes time to do it the right way.

The buzz is more than likely coming from florescent lighting. I know it really annoys me when I'm playing my hot wound Texas blues single coils. You would have to build a makeshift Faraday Cage around your pickups and pots to try and combat the 60 cycle buzz. The feed back is another story, to try and dampen it would defeat the purpose of having a hollow body. I'm thinking thicker finish might tone it down a hair. But your build sounds fantastic to my ears.

You have a nice guitar there and you have done a superb job on it. I agree with you on not really liking the little bit of gloss on the top. Man pull the knobs and tremolo of and get you some high gloss poly and lightly sand the top and face of the peghead and put five or six good coats on the guitar and let it cure for a couple of weeks to a month and light sand with 600 or higher and buff it out to a great shine. Take some 4 ought ( 0000 ) steel wool and rub down the back of the neck to give it a slick and fast playing neck. You have gone too far to scrimp out on that guitar now!!

Very cool video. I almost wish I hadn’t seen it, cuz now I think I must have one of those. That would make 7 guitars. Somebody stop me! Never built a guitar, but it looks pretty doable.

Turned out great. Even if you sprung for some TV Jones pickups, real Grovers Imperials, and a real Bigsby you are still several thousand below what a White Falcon would cost.
