IM A BIG SPILL AND LOADING BAR REVIEWS FAN!
I heard that Fassbender would do his scenes, and he had to walk off set a few times just to deal with what he was doing. That's heavy.
Bullsh*t
Django is the movie salves wished they could do. 12 years is the reality that's how i see it
yeah django was a cartoon compared to this
This was a definite Better Than Sex for me. Absolutely powerful.
Hahahah This is why I love CoHost. He made this review. He's gotta come back to the new site!!
I feel weird using this phrase with a movie like this, but I'd give this movie a Better Than Sex. One of the best movies (if not THE best) I've seen this year. Needed a drink or two after I watched it.
I call it, the great movie I will only ever see once, UNLESS I need a reminder of how bad slavery is.
As a black person this movie means a lot to me and yet I haven't seen it and probably never will they way these cats talked about it way back when.
I don't think I have the mental fortitude for all this 😂
The movie turns 6 today!
Still essential classic cinema
Solomon Northup’s story deserves to be told
Amazing performances and a real wake up call to erase this evil called slavery
This is absolutely amazing. It takes the audience into the time of slavery to show it wasn't like the textbooks say it was. It was way worse than school books make it out to be.
They should show this in school
I don't know if they can show this in school? Because people get offended about everything now are day's.
MrTHEMONEEMAKER
Oh god.. To show this in school, absolutely not. That would cause so much problems, even more than we have now.
Raeyne Jaymeson well have parents sign that slip saying this is very graphic yada yada yada and need their permission
@@SpencerKylo even today I remember in high school we could only watch pg-13 so there’s no way in fucking hell we would be able to...
this film better get some oscars
It better get best picture, adapted screenplay, editing, actor and supporting actress.
And supporting actor
Michael O'Hare If Jared Leto wasn't nominated, then yes, Michael Fassbender deserves the award for supporting actor
it only won Best Picture.
sonicjrjr14 Actually, it also won Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay.
How didn't the lead actor win the oscar?
Good question.
White people
Oscars are rigged go watch Adam ruins everything
Matthew McConaughey won that year.
Man I gotta see this movie. I'm like CoHost. I'm busting out my shine box for Hans Zimmer.
I was so angry with myself. This movie didn't even get a tear out of me. And believe me, I tried. I tried so freakin hard to cry in this movie, but I didn't. GAAAAAAH!!!!!!
Well even if you didn't cry. You must've felt relief at the end of it, the ending is a relief.
I was expecting him to die at the end of the movie and his story to be carried by word of mouth.😗 it was a relief
Roronoa Zoro Well he did die, but he didn't die without seeing his family again.
I cried more the second and third time I watched it.
Exactly how I felt. The audacity of that entirely situation made me too upset to feel anything but angry.
Coming back to this after years its funny hearing Korey kinda defending Django where as now he can't stand the movie
Korey is a big hypocrite.

I saw this movie about 3 hours ago, and I've just been shaking and smoking since, thank God Brad Pitt saved the day at the end
(shivering): I just finished watching it in Pay-per-view… and it was supremely powerfully… fucked up… but still… it was well acted, well directed, well writer, and told what happened to black people all those years ago… I'd give this a Better Than Sex… I need to be alone now.
*walks away in silence*
I have had this movie for six years...I still havent seen it...im so scared
It's a great film, but I very close to crying the entire time.
And to think Disney owns this movie now
Django is my kind of slave movie lol
I really liked this movie but i didn't love it and my main problem as a student of history and major history buff is that i think they didn't go far enough in showing the facts of just how much of a hell it was for these human beings...im Ethiopian and Puerto Rican with my mom born and raised in Ethiopia and mi papá born in the canary islands but raised en la isla...i was born in Ponce but raised in New York City from 3 months on..but most who see me identify me as African American..i consider myself EthioPuerican American...as such i can't truly say my ancestors were slaves but regardless Racism and Slavery are absolute evils imo and it was so hard for me to watch this film but as hard as it was i can't deny that it went too easy in showing what slavery was really like...Korey and the spill crew seem to think what they showed in this film was worse than what Jesus went thru in Passion of Christ(one of my all time favorite films) a film where Alot of critics seemed to only focus on the brutality when at least half of it focused on the valuable lessons Jesus taught his disciples..but this film doesn't even come close to what happened to Jesus in Passion of Christ and it really should i mean u got that scene with Michael Fassbender(God i love that guy in anything he's in he's most definitely in my top 5 actors) character drunkenly chases Solomon around and makes a fool of himself and just let's it go when it reality there's no way a asshole like him would let that go..as hard as it was to watch the brutality i really feel it didn't go far enough in showing how harsh things were for black men and women back then and maybe Steve McQueen consciously made that choice like if we make things too brutal it will steer people away but still i think that's my main problem with the film... everytime i see a film or tv series or song or just anything be so well reviewed i make sure to check my expectations cuz 80% of the time i don't end up agreeing with it and this is one of those times..it's a solid Full Price of a film for me but not High or Better Than Sex...i was really hoping John Brown would show up but i guess Brad Pitt's character was as close as it gets but i still loved him and practically every other major role in this film...Benedict and Chiwetel are 2 other actors that can do no wrong in my book but the way they wasted Michael Kenneth Williams is bullshit a la how they wasted Max Von Sydow in The Force Awakens..u don't have amazing actors like that in your film to kill em off in 2 min and even worse u kill em off without any meaning...if they went out in a meaningful way at least then i can understand but u got Michael K Williams in like 2 min of film just to have him killed off with a weak ass stab to ..who knows where .wtf?!!!??...I'm yapping though...Full Price for me but not enthusiastic though the performances of the main cast.. Chiwetel,Michael,Lupita,Benedict were all amazing..i mean really 95% of the actors in this film are amazing and the Directing by Steve McQueen and score by Hans Zimmer are also amazing
I like Django more because it was fun.
We already know about slavery, why the fuck do we need a film to go in depth about it in the 21st century? This movie had NOTHING new to say.
And why did Lupita win the Oscar? I'm not a hater or anything, but her character did nothing in the movie but get beat up and cry.
Shouldnt you be wathing the fast and the furious about now?
Did you just come out of the closet over youtube?
Im sure that comment is the only action you have had in your life. And I came out of the closet years ago!
Who sets their username as fucking Star Wars
I did at the time
A great film, django was a cartoon, like the revenge fantasy. But this is the movie to remember. The film is riveting, I had to read some of the actual manuscript, and it was even more revealing.
I'm afraid to watch this movie. I love watching movies that make me think and leave me shaken but this I don't know. I don't care what race you are, how does it feel once you're done watching this movie?
How is any of that cyrus' s fault?
It’s a joke, because Cyrus is white, he is apologizing for slavery.
Shouldn't the movie be called 12 years a servant
