Thanks for that Shazza, and for the chokos. You're right, you can't beat homemade. Will drop you a jar at work tomorrow. 😋

Mate, chokos are pretty old school...and to be honest when cooked by themselves are just watery and tasteless. But that sort of makes them ideal as a vessel in a pickle or relish, to take up the added flavours. Thanks for watching as always mate. Cheers!!

Just watched your video again, I think the secret with the choko’s is to add salt and cover overnight in the fridge to draw some of the moisture from them, then drain and rinse the next day

    Thanks for the great recipe!
Just in time for choko season :)
For those looking for the ingredients, here's a list:
    Choko, Apple and Onion Relish
    Ingredients:
    (Main Relish mix)
    - 4xchokos
    - 3xonions
    - 2xsmall granny smith apples
    - 2xcups sugar
    - 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (note, Dean likes relish spicy, so add less if you want it less spicy)
    - 1 Tbsp curry power
    - 1 mustard powder
    - 500ml white vinegar
Mix the following ingredients in a separate bowl, then add to the pot of choko/apple mix in the final 20min.
    - 1.5Tbsp tumeric powder
    - 1.5 TBsp winegar
    - 1.5 Tbsp flour

Think I'd put a little bit less cayenne pepper (just half a teaspoon) next time, but otherwise very nice. :) I cut my chokos and apples quite small, and used the 3 tablespoons of flour towards the end also. It's nice and spicy. :)

Hi there Peta, some good ideas there and especially cutting the chokos and apples a bit smaller. Thanks for watching and taking time to leave feedback. Cheers!!

    What is chokos plz?

They are a rather tasteless vegetable grown on a vine, a bit watery, but absorb flavours nicely.
