    Hey EXO, it's a good idea to put the nut on the bolt before cutting it. Then after cutting, unscrewing it will fix the thread and you don't have to use a tap.
    Love from Poland!!!

    • @ro63rto
      @ro63rto 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is if you have enough thread to fit the nut to and still be able to cut it where you measured.
      Didn't look like it in this case.

    • @aaronriehl6649

      Just taper the cut end slightly with bench grinder or angle grinder will line up threads. Use to do the thread on bolt trick but it's way faster to just hit it with a grinder.

    The tops of the squares on a carriage bolt are rounded down so they can force the square shape into a closely drilled round hole (depending on the size of your bolt) and form fit them when you torque em down. Also, if you thread a nut down those bolts before you cut them and unscrew it after, it’ll chase the threads and you won’t need to clean em up with the die.

    At about 8:30 when you do the cutting and deburring, a quick hack for you: Put a nut on the threads, do the cut, and then undo the nut. The threads will work with any nut then. Might ruin some nuts, but they're pennies and are way easier than deburring, where you might end up messing up the threads.

    Now: no turning back
    Later on: BREAK THE KNOB OFF AIN'T NO TURNING DOWN
    Looking forward to the next one! Don't worry much about weight...the subs would end up matching the rest of it! (And seriously, consider heavier springs on the van!) Much needed stuff to watch after a big problem over here...keep on pumping!

  • @jeremynelson8496
    @jeremynelson8496 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I can understand folks watching and not subscribing. They just want entertainment but what is always surprising to me is how many subscribers don't smash the like. The van looks proper beef dude. I'm always thinking it's way over built but then again I could be just way under estimating the stress the subs are gonna pound it with.

    Always pilot steel with a smaller hole. Usually the size of the tip of your final size is what you need to pilot. This will increase your cutting speed and save your bits.

  • @joearokis8265
    @joearokis8265 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    An easy way to get your holes perpendicular is to use a jig made from a 2x4. Just make sure you get the hole in the jig straight up and down using a drill press. Make about a 1/4 inch deep hole where you're going to drill, so you can find it when the jig is on top. Hope that makes sense.

    Bruce!whats up!? Since you're baffle wasnt attached yet, you could have marked the holes then drilled them outside on saw horses or a large table or something. Then put it back in and used the holes as the marks on the steel. Then remove it once more and make you're holes through the steel. It would be more moving the baffle in and out, but would be much easier to drill.

    okay so the square is there on purpose to aide the fastening you drill the hole the size of the shank and then when you fasten it the square is drawn down into the hole and because its square the friction stops that side from spinning thats how they fasten with only one side.
