A giraffe is not considered a large animal but a kangaroo is... The world of Ark Nova is mysterious. Checked out this video for the solo setup as I was about to play a solo game digitally on Tabletop Simulator but ended up finishing the video afterwards. Perfectly clear explanation of the solo mode, thank you!
Yeah, there is weird thematic stuff in Ark Nova. I'm too much of a Euro gamer to even notice most of it. 🙂 I'm glad you enjoyed the playthrough, Cowwie!
This is the best game I played in the past year and a half. After about 4 games, I created a solo variant that uses the breaks system from multiplayer and other smaller changes. Now I'm after 25+ plays and I still want to keep playing. Thanks for the video!
Wow, I thought I played it a lot in the last week! But I must agree, I'm in love with it as well. I'm very curious about your solo variant. Are you able/willing to share? Thanks for checking out the video Nir!
Thank you for another great video! The game looked so intimidating but you explained everything so well as usual. Will be picking this up with the new expansion tomorrow. Thank you!
I hope you enjoy it. There is a more robust solo mode called ARNO that you can find on Board Game Geek, but I definitely recommend starting with this one to learn the game. After a few plays it really comes together. One of my favorite games, for sure. Thanks for watching!
Glad to see you doing a playthrough of Ark Nova. I picked it up just a week or two ago, and it's straight into my top 3 ever solo games. The mix of action selection, worker placement and polyomino play is hugely fun and satisfying, and I like how you have to adapt your strategy to the relatively small percentage of cards you'll see from the huge deck. The limited 27 actions in the solo adds to the puzzle by really making you think about how to maximise your action efficiency. Definitely a keeper in my collection!
I totally agree with you Jay. I keep playing over and over again. Very addictive and definitely deserving of the hype! Thanks for checking out the video Jay!
great video, got this game a while ago but finally set it up on the table as i have today off... so going through and learning it all, it's a bit daunting at first just reading the rules but then watching this video has made it all kind of stick here's to the first playthrough to see what all the hype is about
@@TotallyTabled yeah I've already played through 4 games, it's fantastic. I played 3 just in my first stint on the table, which few games can make me do. Haven't managed a first win yet though but still enjoying it immensely. Just need to iron out making the odd mistake in a game and I'm sure I'll get the first.
Awesome! Glad you enjoy it. This is definitely a multiple play in one setting type of solo game, which I did not expect. It is surprisingly quick and addictive.
I use my Roxley Iron Clays for every game. They are great. I even use a stack of them to prop up the cards when I take the closeup photos. They are perfect for everything! 😀 Thanks for watching J R!
Clear explanation, but I have a question. Is the display always horizontal in the solo variant of the game? I also watched a how to play video where the display was vertical (and as such cards easier to read). I do not seem to find a difference between the boards, except for the horizontal/vertical lay-out. Am I missing something?
With Ark Nova getting compared to Terraforming Mars all the time, I kind of dismissed it for a while because I don't like Terraforming Mars as a solo game at all. But the more I see of Ark Nova, the more I start to think I will actually like this one. By the way, did you know the backside of the game board has the placeholders for the market cards turned 90 degrees so they're easier to read when playing solo (or when everyone is on the same side of the board)?
Oh, that's good to know for the future. Didn't even think to look. 😳 Oh well. Yeah, this doesn't feel like Terraforming Mars to me at all. I like this MUCH more. It is quicker, simpler, and punchier. Extremely puzzly. Fantastic game! Thanks Single Meeple!
Sorry. Now tell me all the things you liked about the playthrough. Maybe the cut aways to each individual card? Or the editing? Pacing? Teaching? Clean HD image? Clear audio?

Ha, fair enough.

Nice playthrough. Also, the sound of the iron clays *chef's kiss*
Indeed! I never tire of that sound. Thanks for watching!
its really a great game, on my expert fav list.
Cool. Nice use of the iron clays. I'm enjoying your playthrough. Cheers
I'm glad you are enjoying the playthrough manonfire. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Such a great video, thank you!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent work
Thanks for watching!
Excellent video, bought it at the games expo and looking forward to getting it on the table! Loving the money tokens! Where are they from?
Those are Iron Clays from Roxley Games. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy the game!
I love that you use the Roxley "poker" chips for the monies. Hahaha, I'm gonna copy you.

Nice! Roxley should pay us to advertise them!
Please make a tutorial for the Feast for Odin
Clear explanation, but I have a question.

It's on the back side of the board. I just made a mistake. Thanks for watching.

Only came to see how solo rules work, left realising ive been playing kiosks wrong the whole time 🤦🏻♂️ i just thought each kiosk!was 1 coin 😅
Glad the video helped! Thanks for checking it out. I hope it leads to more points in the future!
Drives me nuts you're not playing the main board on the "solo" side so its easy to read the cards.
Sorry. Now tell me all the things you liked about the playthrough. Maybe the cut aways to each individual card? Or the editing? Pacing? Teaching? Clean HD image? Clear audio?
@@TotallyTabled everything else is spot on, I enjoyed the overall presentation! Thanks for making the video.
Thanks. I appreciate that.
