You convinced me, I just added this light on to my wishlist. Things I really liked: The design and its futuristic vibes Two high capacity batteries charging in only 2 hours Big wide wall of light, awesome . If it would had the feature of using it as a power bank it would be the perfect EDC flooder, I guess I'm asking for too much.
I had seen others say the batteries weren't replaceable, so this review definitely changes the game. I really like the throw and colored lights on the mini Marauder, but the form factor here is fantastic.
Great review! Just ordered the X-1 and am looking forward to it! I have always been into throwers but this floodlight was one that I had to have in my collection. Thank you for everything that you do for the community!
4:29 this hobby in a nutshell but yeah, jokes aside, wuben is really knocking it out of the park with all of these lights. The design is actually really revolutionary and cool. Id love to get a A1 but its like 1000 bucks or sth, cannot justify that for now
Wow. I must say. My first actual light was the tn36 limited and I still got it. It's still my only light other than the x75 that can sustain high enough brightness to light my camp till the batteries die. I am almost definitely picking this light up as a replacement for it finally
@@cheule unfortunately wuben company is making jokes of their customers. Maybe the light itself is ok but customer service for me is like Chinese scam, don't want to think how they will deal in case of warranty claims 🤬
I just saw your review on the x-1 falcon and the flashlight give a way is long over with. I bought a led waterproof light and runs on a regular 9 volt battery. I bought this light 22 years ago. @@cheule I agree with you on the 70.2/70.3 for flood purpose. My X 75 I purchased with the 70.3 because if it’s capability of reaching out a little further of 1300 m over the 70.2. But with this light I’ll take the 70.2 because it just gives you a much brighter spectrum of light.
I have a X2 on order. I ordered it mid Dec 2022, can't wait for it to show up. Now are you kidding me with this X1. Looks like I will be making some adjustments to my planed purchases to accommodate a X1.

As a side note i absolutely used this for months in high chlorine pool water on whatever mode i wanted woth the cooling fan running occasionally and ive had zero issues. Obviously that is abuse on an aluminum body with active cooling fan and its not wise to do. The black body is too slick and leads to falls so i added some friction tape around the body. It has about as many scars as i do yet in some incredible way the lens doesnt even have a scratch. I think for the price Wuben in an awesome company and ive been on a bindge buying up most of what they put out.
I've been working on a side-by-side design with two mc13/dm11 optics and some flood emitters in the middle, another potential use for the stacked cells
Another great review that is pretty comprehensive overview of the light. I like the form factor a lot and that the batteries are pretty easily accessible. The only thing I wish the light had was a magnetic base.
Blue was an odd choice, but fun. The nice thing about the square light is I could put that in a pocket, where the soda can I simply can’t. I don’t mind the soda can feel in hand, but I understand you don’t like it.

I clicked the link in your description and I was so hyped to see it can be used as a bicycle handlebar light, but I guess you have to buy a mount for it. This would fill so many shoes for me. Thank you so much for this video. I haven't been so hyped about a light in a while. I am thinking about getting the Olight Marauder Mini, because of the flood/spot feature, but I am going to get this light 1st. I am going to be doing a side job in 2 weeks that will pay for the light. 😀
You know, it DOES have a dedicated bicycle mount. I completely forgot to mention it (and I don't have it, just saw it on the website) But you're correct that there are two holes on the bottom for where it attaches. I feel like not mentioning this is a large enough oversight that I should make a supplemental video. I'm going to ask my rep to send out the adapter, and then shoot a supplemental video showing it.
@@cheule that would be amazing. I sometimes bike to work and I currently have a $15 set of a headlight/taillight combo and I sometimes wish the headlight was a little brighter. Great to see that you did this review! Mines been ordered and hopefully on the way soon, but this company takes their time in shipping so we'll see. Also have the X2 coming. Used your discount code - Many thanks! 👍🔦👍
The value of this light is in the fact it can output 2,500 lumens until the battery dies! How many hand held lights can match that! Wish it came in a high CRI/Ra set of emitters (519A or GT FN40). In spite of that quibble, I just ordered it!
Dude that was a great review the only thing which I may have missed was if the light has an IP rating but other than that I love the close up in use walk through thanks a lot oh yeah its nice to get a heads up use walk through before your new toy gets here
Out of curiosity I wonder if it would be better to to do a cross pattern when tightening the battery screws or if it even matters. I know I the pipe fitting world it's best to do that with anything that has a gasket to insure it's properly seated and makes the intended seal
Seeing these non-standard form factor lights always makes me concerned about proprietary flat batteries that are difficult to replace. Wuben not only using standard batteries but making it relatively easy to replace them without doing any battery pack nonsense is really nice and encouraging.
Interesting design makes sense it better in the hand then the soda can. Just not so sure off the looks but I suppose I’m not really of the soda can either but maybe it will catch on sounds like a decent light
What would be even more interesting would be if they make them 90 degrees lights so you can carry them in a pocket. Also, the reflector can be made deeper or larger.
It would seem Cheule, that Wuben firmly have their finger on the pulse (no pun intended !) of just what people require and really need from a flashlight these days. It would appear, nicely, that people are actually listening to folks, don't you think ? Take it easy my friend, and shine on. Always ! 🤗😊❤️✌️🖖🤘👋
When I first saw the X-1 I genuinely thought it'd be a gimmick, but it actually looks super interesting! I've been thinking about getting a Wurkkos TS22 as a portable flooder but this is something else. The fact that the batteries are user replaceable is such a blessing!
Great review Just curious though, watching you test the lights, I was worried that your neighbours might poke their head out and ask you what the heck was going on Ever had that happen? lol Also you weren't kidding about the wall of blue. I know the camera probably makes it look way oversaturated, but still!
I’m a fan of smaller lights and gave my wife and two daughter-in-laws a Thrunite light based on one of your videos. Everyone needs a light in the car. What I need now, is a small light that emits red light. I take photos at night and need one that doesn’t hurt night vision?
I definitely appreciate your subjective enjoyment of the X-1's form. I'm enjoying mine (also white) but an not completely sold on the form factor yet. I mean, it's thinner on the shallow side but hugely chunky in the other direction, so you always end up pinching the light and when holding with your arm down at your side, it wants to slip out unless you get your fingers under the 90° edge on the short side. When I took it on a desert hike the other night, I kind of wanted a handle or finger loop after a while. With a cylindrical soda light... of reasonable size, your fingers encompass the light so that even at waste level, the weight is pushing into your fingers. Objectively, using the D18 as a comparison, a W2.1 for example pushes out 13-14K lumens and has 140Kcd of throw vs the X-1's 20Kcd. From my perspective, these two lights are in completely different categories given the 600% difference in throw but I guess that's right back to the form factor and the front end of the light. Since a soda can light's shape allows a certain performance advantage that the brick doesn't, I'm not sure that it's simply a soda light re-imagined. It's a form factor compromise/benifi with a resulting performance compromise both in lumen output and throw due to the nature of the frontal area limitation. In any case, thanks for the review and your thoughts.
I have yet to see a D18 that pushes out 13,000 lumens. The highest I measured was on a 6* W2.1 and 12* sst-20 setup I had that was clocking in at 8,000 lumens at 0s. But also note that D18s have poor sustain. That same light would be 2-3,000 lumens by 30s. This is where the X1 shines… the integrated cooling and sustain. Thanks for your detailed reply, I enjoyed reading it.
@@cheule Hi cheule. I still have two D18's but never owned the SST-20... Here's the breakdown on the others: (XPL HI 5000K 13500L, 90Kcd) (W1.1 11000L, 173Kcd, (W2.1 15,000L, 140kcd) (W1x6 + w2 x12 14,260L, 165Kcd ) Some of these are Vinh Nguyen numbers but they're all within 5% of my light tube and light box numbers @ turn on. At 30sec the 18 x W2.1 is still about 10K lumens. I'm guessing that if you test your D18 at 30s you'll find that it's still within 15% of turn on as well. The D18 has a very thick LED shelf and its thermal capacity allows it to maintain 2800-3200 lumen continuously until the batteries are "drained." In any case, I didn't intend (necessarily) to compare the Wuben to a specific light. I just intended to convey, that in my humble opinion, the W1 isn't a "pop can killer" The fan in the X1 certainly helps but it doesn't transform the light to a performances level that beats high LED count can lights, like the X80GT for example which can run at over 4000L until the batteries are drained... or at 8000L for quite a substantial time, although I can't remember the exact time span. I seem to recall that it's 20 odd minutes or there about. The X1 does 12K lumen for about a minute... then it's all the way down to 2600L. Again, there are many other light examples, I just thought of the d18 because you mentioned it and the Acebeam because it was the next to come to mind. I now have the bicycle mount for the X1 and just got back from another long ride. It maintains the "high" just fine but only gives about 1m before throttling down from turbo. When it throttles down to high and stays there, the temp reduces but never drops to ambient obviously, therefore when I bump it up to turbo it doesn't even go a full 60sec and does perhaps 30-40secs. I don't know what the actual thermal advantage provided by the fan is vs. without the same feature. I guess one could tape off the vents to test that. My humble guess is that we're maybe looking at a 20-25% advantage (which is certainly helpful) but when compared to certain pop cans with more mass (like the D18, X80, X7 for context) some of this advantage is offset to the point that there might not be any. All three of those lights maintain more continuous output than the X1. I appreciate your enjoyment of the light and I suppose that by nature, I tend to understate things things, recognizing certainly advantages while realizing, there's always a trade off... especially where the same or similar tech is concerned. When it comes right down down it, we're still talking about the same LED tech, drivers tech, the same construction materials and the same cell chemistry. All have different mass & cell counts but one has a tiny amount of air blowing across the LED shelf fins... therefore we shouldn't expect to see anything game changing, and as it turns out, we don't. We see a smartly designed light with a noticeable advantage over the same light but without a fan and with little to no downside. Does it replace the popcan light due to superior performance? No, it actually comes in a little behind the others in the area of lumen output and throw but it sure fits on my handle bars and in my pockets a lot better, which is totally worth it! :) Thanks again for the content, dude!
Love your videos. Saw this a long time ago and bought both lights based on your recommendations. Still need the d18 with all blue. It makes reality look really weird according to your video. When you called the marauder mini the marauder mini 2, was that a mistake or is there a marauder mini 2? I’ve seen it multiple times both ways.
Oh man. What a decision. They're both really good. I'd say Marauder Mini for most people, but if you can mod the X-1 is super attractive to throw some XHP70.3 High CRI into!
Interesting light and great review! The form factor is definitely more pocket and hand friendly. It reminds me of a rifle magazine. I'd argue this deserves the name of maglite more! When you took off the battery cover, did it have any rubber gasket to keep out the elements? Does the fan give a sense it won't fare well in bad weather? And is there any potential for user serviceability for the fan just in case anything were to happen?
Really want one of these, can you comment on the white micro arc finish? I know some manufacturers havent been getting it right and they are wearing poorly. If the white finish is durable I would love one, it looks nice. Thanks!
This is an excellent version of MAO, but all MAO is going to be more delicate than black HA type III. I tend to baby my lights, so it’s not a huge issue for me. But the white definitely even shows dirt more.
This is a great user manual. The factory should include it at the top of their user manual. Excellent job. Thank you.

Looks like a really interesting design and will definitely be something I consider in the future!
Love the knight, so I guess I will be buying this one as well
Throw some 30T's in there and make a bezel for it and run the lumens test again.
Good video!
Great to see that you did this review! Mines been ordered and hopefully on the way soon, but this company takes their time in shipping so we'll see. Also have the X2 coming. Used your discount code - Many thanks! 👍🔦👍
Glad I could help! Oh I should add that code to the description I FORGOT oh noes!
Cool form factor - seems like a nice edc. actually considering this one now.
Another great review my man! Love it.
Nice! Gotta love those flat lights, I dunno why they are so uncommon, seems like they make sense. Quality light!
The value of this light is in the fact it can output 2,500 lumens until the battery dies! How many hand held lights can match that! Wish it came in a high CRI/Ra set of emitters (519A or GT FN40). In spite of that quibble, I just ordered it!
Dude that was a great review the only thing which I may have missed was if the light has an IP rating but other than that I love the close up in use walk through thanks a lot oh yeah its nice to get a heads up use walk through before your new toy gets here
What a sick light! Also, have you done a video explaining all the terminology you use? Like what is BBL, ANSI, etc.
This video will help explain a lot of it: th-cam.com/video/agIbkfuZjH4/w-d-xo.html
Out of curiosity I wonder if it would be better to to do a cross pattern when tightening the battery screws or if it even matters. I know I the pipe fitting world it's best to do that with anything that has a gasket to insure it's properly seated and makes the intended seal
probably so!
Seeing these non-standard form factor lights always makes me concerned about proprietary flat batteries that are difficult to replace. Wuben not only using standard batteries but making it relatively easy to replace them without doing any battery pack nonsense is really nice and encouraging.
It's an excellent move. And I should point to that in the smaller X-2, they used a "pack"
Interesting design makes sense it better in the hand then the soda can. Just not so sure off the looks but I suppose I’m not really of the soda can either but maybe it will catch on sounds like a decent light
Another great video. Thanks for considering to do a giveaway. Fantastic
I've been drawn in to Olight and forget there are other excellent torches out there, such as the one reviewed here
What would be even more interesting would be if they make them 90 degrees lights so you can carry them in a pocket. Also, the reflector can be made deeper or larger.
The (much) smaller X-0 does!
Love everything about this light. Would like to see a comparison on a clear night.
Noted! Sorry, my production schedule is nuts right now. Tell you what, I'll make a short and post it tonight.
It would seem Cheule, that Wuben firmly have their finger on the pulse (no pun intended !) of just what people require and really need from a flashlight these days.
It would appear, nicely, that people are actually listening to folks, don't you think ?
Take it easy my friend, and shine on. Always ! 🤗😊❤️✌️🖖🤘👋
I agree!
When I first saw the X-1 I genuinely thought it'd be a gimmick, but it actually looks super interesting! I've been thinking about getting a Wurkkos TS22 as a portable flooder but this is something else.
The fact that the batteries are user replaceable is such a blessing!
Great review
Just curious though, watching you test the lights, I was worried that your neighbours might poke their head out and ask you what the heck was going on
Ever had that happen? lol
Also you weren't kidding about the wall of blue.
Rng. Flash lohghts
Hey Cheul, in the highest mode before turbo, can you set the user brightness higher the the 2600lm? Thanks!
Turbo is not configurable. L though H are though.
At 30sec the
18 x W2.1 is still about 10K lumens.
The battery cover says “DO NOT DISASSEMBLE” - so no warrty voided issues if you remove the cover to swap batteries as shown?
This form factor is really interesting.
Nice review! Curious if you had to purchase only one, would you choose the Olight Marauder mini over this light?
Oh man. What a decision. They're both really good. I'd say Marauder Mini for most people, but if you can mod the X-1 is super attractive to throw some XHP70.3 High CRI into!
you are awesome! you are really doing the researches! for people like me wondering which one to pick! thank you! subscribed👍👍
I see many lights using TIR lenses instead of the standard reflector what is the difference in performance?
Interesting light and great review! The form factor is definitely more pocket and hand friendly. It reminds me of a rifle magazine. I'd argue this deserves the name of maglite more! When you took off the battery cover, did it have any rubber gasket to keep out the elements? Does the fan give a sense it won't fare well in bad weather? And is there any potential for user serviceability for the fan just in case anything were to happen?
I would think if the fan stopped working it wouldn’t stop the light from working… it would get hotter during turbo use.
Another great review! Really nice fan implementation. How much does the beam spread change as you rotate the light around in your hand?
The spill is definitely ovular like with the X-2. If you watch that review, almost identical, just brighter and more spread.
Not sure to like fans into flashlights but this looks so cool
it's super quiet, I like it because it seriously solves the heat issue.
Great review comrade.
Dose anyone know if you can charge the light while it’s on? For extended runtime.
I can take a look and report back.
I hope there will be an xhp 70 successor emitter with better tint soon.
I suppose the XHP70.3 is the one. If a manufacturer is picky, i've seen very neutral bins. But so far not many use it.
