      teach your child the your asian language. Don't be that mother that is obsessed with fitting in and is ashamed of her asianess. Many half-asian kids grew up not learning their asian language and they find it extremely difficult to communicate and feel close to their asian relatives and culture.

      It will be fine, because with the older generation passing away, newer generation that grow up will be more open-minded and there’s gonna be more half or mixed in the future, I think it’s not a big issue to be worried about

      In Asia, unfortunately if you are half or foreigner and if you born there and live for years it’s impossible to you to get the Korean, or Japanese or Chinese or whatever Asian nationality. That’s the problem than you can’t study in the national school but the school for foreigners and you’ll never been integrated as a native Asian. Not like Europe or US if you are foreigner you can apply for nationality it’s impossible in Asia. Why one day I’ve talk to a Mongol men is saying to me that in Asians country there is few mixed couple Bcs they don’t want to see their country invaded by immigration and they don’t want there race disappear. Now I understand Bcs they are very conservative countries.

  • @juanaseok77

    I'm a Korean, not half, but lived abroad for a very long time. Due to this reason, I believe I exude different vibe than those who lived in Korea all of their life, making Korean tourists think that I'm Japanese or Chinese. Funny enough, I experienced racial discriminations based on "what" they thought I was even though I am a Korean. They would shut themselves up straightaway and flee the scenes whenever I spoke Korean.
    I really think there's so many things in relation to discrimination that must be educated not just in European nations but also in Asian countries.

That being said, I am not a fan of multiculturalism as it's being pushed, and even forced nowadays. It dilutes the culture of the host country and I think Korea and Japan are right to be as ethnocentric as they are. I used to study Emglish at a quite posh English language school in my early stage in England. I used to hear white (especially European) people were quite indifferent to others and independent on their own. It was true in a way of myth got broken when I learnt my teacher shared my readings with other teachers at the teachers' room. It waw a mid-sized town, then EVERYONE in the town knew when I was going out in my red coat so on. Not only for the school but supermarket, clothe shops, book stores, pharmacy, church, restaurant, museum and so on.
    It was true the Enlish was quite distant and indifferent to others but if there was a 'rare one' then non-non. Later moved to London, where was relatively better than Cambridge, but more or less the same after living in the same region for over 1 year. Of course my classmates and flatmates were the same; French, German, Italian, Dutch, Swiss, Russian and so on especially for Europeans than the same East Asians like me.

Respect.

    When you're 18, in France, you are being asked to choose a nationality.

      Nobody has to choose a nationality in France.

      Long story short: If there’s one French parent and one with X nationality, when you reach 18. Based on Personal experience. My unlucky day with super zealous/bored city hall employee of the year! But apparently it’s the law. Anyway, it was a few years ago.

    • @puccaland

      @@aaat4873 If one of your parent is French you're de facto French and you don't have to choose anything. One cannot renounce his French citizenship either. Was the same in the past. Perhaps your French parent didn't register you when you were born and you had to prove you're French later. Children whose both parents aren't French but were born or grew up in France must ask for their French citizenship at some milestones, 18 being one of them.
