- Here is a normal morning in the life of Mason Ho. Wake up, run out the door, grab a board, drive down the road and surf.
This specific morning he paddles out to one of his favorite surf spots loaded with sharp sea urchin filled rocks. We left the clips running long plus all audio so you can witness somewhat firsthand how he deals with it all.

You need to come to Bocas del Toro on one of your future strike missions....There are some breaks with exposed coral heads that people leave alone, but I think you would luv 'em....We all know how good you can surf, no matter what lurks beneath...But the best part of your videos in my view are your board debriefs at then finale; so gentle and loving...Keep'em coming.

20 years ago I took my teenage son on an endless summer kind of jaunt down the whole east coast USA just hitting every spot we could. Treated him to a new board in Cocoa Beach and went straight to Satellite Beach. Being unfamiliar with the spot I was just loving it and did not notice the change in tide. One nice, last look over the shoulder and paddling hard.....is that a reef in my face? Must have looked like a cartoon hitting the brakes on a full on paddle. Memories every dad should try for with their kids. I always tell younger dads, don’t let surfing die with you, take your kids as often as possible.
Same scenario here this past December. Been surfing all over FL for 25 years and was visiting Satellite Beach for second time, but a different spot. While paddling out the tide sucked out and next thing I know I'm on a dry coquina rock shelf. Feet and legs get scraped and noticed some blood mixed in the foam, so went back to shore to assess the damage and make sure I wasn't attracting dorsals in the lineup. Surfed some sketchy third dips in Makaha (Oahu) over shallow razor sharp reef, but Satellite Beach gave me a nice scar of humiliation. Next day was super rainy and windy and exposed all the rocks hidden under the sand on the shoreline, the tell tale sign of whats there when the tide/sand shift.
