This was a helpful and enjoyable video.
If I understand correctly,
curved lines and cross-hatching can be included in this style of drawing,
but they are the exception, not the rule.
Use them a little bit, to enhance the picture, but that's it.
For the look of this art technique
rendering most of the volumes and surfaces in straight lines is the main focus.

thanks i was about to ask about this, it wasnt totally clear to me from the subtitles. it sounded like he ws saying once you use curved lines it makes your shading steer too much towards realistic?

I always get mad frustrated when it comes to hatching but man you seem to keep it sharp and cool.
I’m so happy I found this video. That advice for “not using” curved lines comes in handy. Keeping the lines consistent and straight, depending on what you’re hatching makes the whole drawing so much better. You’re drawing was so good and your control over the pencil is great. I hope to get as good as you. Thank you!

In hatching the problem is that when we done a perticular part and start another one ,then strokes come over the other and it looks messy more than sharp 😢😢
