Use them a little bit, to enhance the picture, but that's it. For the look of this art technique rendering most of the volumes and surfaces in straight lines is the main focus. thanks i was about to ask about this, it wasnt totally clear to me from the subtitles. it sounded like he ws saying once you use curved lines it makes your shading steer too much towards realistic?
I’m so happy I found this video. That advice for “not using” curved lines comes in handy. Keeping the lines consistent and straight, depending on what you’re hatching makes the whole drawing so much better. You’re drawing was so good and your control over the pencil is great. I hope to get as good as you. Thank you!
Hatching is so fun,I made it apart of ky art technique as far back as Bleach the series coming out. Tite Kubo is known for this and inspired me to use it and I never looked back. Awesome video and explanation by the way. Came upon your video while wanting to just see how others do it besides me. Keep rocking 👍

I've known the hatching technique for a while but I've always felt really intimidated because it looked too pro and thus too difficult, but thanks to your shorts you made me realize its simplicity and lose that fear making me apply it to my artstyle. Now it looks really neat and sharp and it gets tons of compliments, it really improved thanks to you, I love doing it on the face and clothing. I'm still intimidated about trying it on the hair, but I promise I'll practice!
In hatching the problem is that when we done a perticular part and start another one ,then strokes come over the other and it looks messy more than sharp 😢😢
