    I am actually looking forward to a semi retirement before I reach 65. That’s why I am eagerly learning more about passive income and taking good care of my health by regularly doing exercises, taking healthy rich foods, cutting down on cabs and sugar, regularly educating myself on health matters, and doing daily meditation, twice a day.
    For most elderly people, they dun have any thing to look forward to when they retire, but not me, I have my spiritual developments to do. I cannot elaborate into more details because it will be very alienateing to most people as Singapore is spiritually navie. But I started my spiritual journey some 30 years ago. And it is paying dividends now.
    Anyway, I can still do some part time jobs just to kill some time, but otherwise, my remaining time is too precious to waste on material things.

    Very good points Josh. Thanks for this video. Retirement can be stressful also because of fear in the unknown. I believe we must live in the present. Don’t think too far ahead about the future.

    I am now 54, when I retire in 2030, I will use my free time to travel regularly. Currently i am travelling also, like I am going to Africa Safari end of nov, but retirement gives me more time to go to different countries to hike .... Although I will have enough savings and passive income for retirement, I will still work part-time .... and my 3 kids will give me allowance ..... I only worry of my health.... so I will travel as much as possible

    Please do make another vid regarding options like endowment/annuities to bridge 55-65 period as most PMETs tend to lose their jobs during this age gap where they’re too old for lower positions (young people won’t hire overqualified candidates) and too young for typical retiree low paying jobs.

    • @joshconsultancy
      @joshconsultancy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I understand. The emergency cash really needed at that age

    • @mmmm-rb4cq
      @mmmm-rb4cq 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      In my personal opinion, many PMETs have themselves to blame for this. They often overreach in life - think condos/landed/BMWs etc... and fail to plan adequately. I started planning for retirement when I started work at 25 and I was able to retire at age of 45 without any debts. Currently aged 51 and enjoying my retirement. Early retirement is possible... only if you are willing to do what others in Singapore won't...

    I planned for my retirement some 15 years ago. That’s why I am still keeping fit at 59. Someone thought I am 50. I noticed that Singaporeans dun take the trouble to plan for their ageing body. They just eat what taste good and dun care to exercise. The live to eat.
    I, on the other hand, eat to live. My food is my medicine. Some of them do taste like medicine such as raw aloe vera, raw beet root, cinnamon powder, lemon juice with apple cider vinegar and baking soda, ginger water and garlic, for example. But they are so cheap and very good for health.
    At my age, I can easily swim 20 laps under 36 mins. I can also do 108 x leg raises for my ads, for example. If you want your body to take care of you, you must learn how to take care of your body. dDon't leave it to the doctor. They just want to earn your money. Be your own doctor, take steps to maintain good cholesterol, insulin resistance, joint pains, eye sight, etc. If you are kind to your body, your body will be kind to you later in life. Don't take your health for granted.
    Some people invest in stocks, but how few invest in health? All they do is just buy health insurance, that’s all. I did more than that. My mum at 87 still can walk to the kopitiam by herself. My neighbour’s mum died at 77 after sitting on a wheelchair for 4 years.

    Government should make it a law that those above 55 years old be engaged in a semi-retired mode. (Eg. only work 4 days a week). Of course this will make them less attractive to employers but then it can be moderated by preventing too many foreigners from coming in to undermine their (aged) chances at employment.

      wow interesting idea, not 100% if it is possible to pass a law without consequences

    Actually retirement is only stressful for those that don't know what to do after retirement. There are actually a lot of meaningful things to do in life, is just whether those stressful retirees want to search for it.
