- MF 290 restoration complete.
It was painfully labour intensive and expensive, but now very rewarding.
I recon it was worth every cent but itctook way to long, hence I will not do it again.
The chassis was completely sandblasted, zink plated (cold) and coated with a special poxy resin in original battleship grey.
Panels needed LOTS of work as it rusted right through. I had to cut out sections and welded in new plates. Panels spray painted in original MF red with automotive paint.
I replaced just about every bolt and nut that I removed with stainless steel or galvanised ones.
Instrument cluster has got custom LEDs indicating charge and neutral. I also installed a relé driven heater plug push button that lids up as you press it.
The fuel level sensor was broken and no where in SA could I get another one. I had to make my own one with a "wire wound potential meter" and it works ok.
You might as youself : "but why?"
My answer: "John Deer aint THAT good."

verry nice, but so wierd the dachbord looks differend of my MF 290 :o
That' engine is Perkins from the sound itself.
