This is where my lock down brain has taken me tonight; a trip down musical memory lane. Last stop was The Cramps, now this. The 90s were a fantastic time for music. ❤️
THIS is the only musical act which to me matters, because they have an amazing unique ability to completely transcend music performance to where it becomes more than just music, it becomes a meditation, a means to travel outside - or even inside - ones body, to places never even imagined. I've been listening to and actively involved with creating music for well over 40 years and I have never heard of music output on such a level as what pours out of Dead Can Dance. Once they are able to tour the states, I will make it a point to catch at least one performance, as I can only imagine how life changing that must be as well.
This is from a visually stunning film called Baraka. The creator and director is the same who directed the video of the Toward the Within concert. Using DCD in the soundtrack, he has managed to match the visuals to the audio. It's almost overwhelming...
Her voice is magic, hypnotic and to me personally also healing. Even after all those years listening to them, they always amaze me, as if I just listened to them the very first time. 👍🌈🇮🇪🎶💖🌺
I caught them at the Hollywood Bowl years ago: I purchased a box in front for myself and three of my friends. My friends never heard of them and didn’t show up. I smoked a j walking up to the venue with my basket of wine and snacks and had a blast.
This music speaks to my higher self! I don't really know that self yet but he knows this music and it reaches him. Some day I will know my higher self. I feel it may be when I am no longer bound to this planet.
Our higher selves come out in the kindness we show towards others. In our understanding that our differences, no matter what they are, whether they be in physical appearance, philosophical, political or religious views. I hope this finds you well and enjoying inner peace, no matter what this world has going on. 💪✌️🙏
i have never found any music that can stir as much emotion within me as what dead can dance or lisa gerrard has created, i don't think they are of this earth personally, they exist somewhere outside our reality...i'm just glad they happen to have a physical form in our world to share their souls the way they did
I bought this the week it came out. In all these years I have never heard anything else like it and it has never failed to stir emotions in me. A magnificent work-almost an opera-but something different and unique.
Lisa Gerrard is a musical goddess. She has a style unto herself with her voice, in both quality and the fact that her lyrics are invocation most of the time, rather than any specific language. She can also play a whole host of instruments which mostly died off from music decades or more ago.
Il n'est de beauté que le son de l'âme...Je suis et reste envoûté par Dead Can Dance à chaque fois, et dés que je suis mal dans ma peau pour x raison je reviens vers ce son et je retrouve toute ma sérénité dans l'âme. Merci
2.3 million views. Ive been at 3 live shows. At 57 yet I well up at the beauty of their work. Thank you Lisa & Brendan . It was a Thursday afternoon. At Yesterday & Today records in Miami 1984. Just when the UPS guy delivered the package containing 4 copies of their 1st album. I purchased my copy that moment.
Its like listening to my soul cry. and sing... Crying for decrepit and singing for the hope of brighter things.... A song for the needed balance in the world.
Allen Strough, very eloquently described and so very, very accurate! I was so blessed to have had the opportunity to see them perform at Radio City Music Hall in 2005. I was never in my life so deeply moved by any musical performance than I was while listening to/feeling this song that night. It truly embraced the depths of my soul and shook my spirit awake! Sobs of joy and sadness all at once from all over the music hall (myself included). Much love and peace to you. 😌
Every time I listen to this song and it gets to where the drums stop and I know it's at the end, I don't want it to end. At nearly 7 minutes long, it sure doesn't feel that long when I get lost within the music.
Its newyears eve.... i can't stand the noise outside anymore.... my dog died last week..... I always stayed home with her, because she was always so affraid....now she is gone....i lost her. For the first time in my life i went to bed at 22hr....and i have put music in my ears THIS BEAUTIFUL MUSIC away from the world, this is what i need. Beautiful

The band Dead Can Dance is not from Italy, I suggest google or wiki them for Brandon Perry/Lisa Gerrard's origins. They broke up but very recently have gotten back together for a new album and world tour; I'll be seeing them in Nashville for my birthday. I am extremely excited to say the least.

Lisa Gerrard has been and always will be, to me, an absolute goddess. There is no one above her. She has no equal. ❤
Absolutely!
This was my favorite album when i was thirteen. Still is and im forty six now. Still a great classic!

Dead Can Dance, utterly timeless and endless.
