  • It was close but Harry Styles in the Live Lounge performing The Chain (Fleetwood Mac Cover) was the video most people wanted to see next!
Tiny Desk is on deck. Should I do a full album reaction after that?
Thank you for taking this journey with me. I appreciate all of your comments and guidance. It'll take a while to get through his music but I hope you'll stick around!

everyone has to go to a Harry Styles concert at least once in your life. He is one of those people who transmits a lot on stage and his concerts are the best is more than an artist who sings... he makes you part of it. He's doing The Forum in Cali. He has three concerts there scheduled, which he'll probably postpone soon. He had five MSGs. Dude, you have GOT to see him live. If you have the time, I suggest you google Harry Styles concert review. I kid you not. The most incredulous reviewers fell to their feet in compliments lmao. Just so you know, it's not just that he's a great performer and super talented with an amazing band and great music, but you're signing up for a full on stand up show. This man is a comedian and an entertainer. You don't really see his personality and wit in his performances but he's HILARIOUS and so sweet. He spends a lot of time interacting with the crowd at every concert, and not in a corny way, well, also in a corny way (at a concert in Chicago he went on a full speech about pizza, then went on a tangent when someone booed pizza, then asked the crowd if they liked cheese, then when the crowd cheered he said "of course you like cheese, that's why you came to see me perform"), but he's actually genuinely funny. And if you do floor there's a good chance he'll notice you because he hyper focuses on men and always interacts with them. I don't know how much he'll notice men now considering his audience has expanded a lot and there's a large chunk of male fans, but yeah...

Adding on to that the best way to get noticed by H at one of his shows is definitely, A be a dad, B be gay, or C, be pregnant. Even better if you combine it with a great sign (preferably with a terrible pun on it, lol) and some glitter maybe and your golden. 👌

Sign of the times on the Graham Norton Show, his best performance of the song ever, it was the start of the rabbit hole for so many solo fans. Buy your tickets for Harry if there are any left, his concerts are the best, he has such a stage presence, he values his fans and puts on a great show, even down to what he and the band wear, the atmosphere is incredible. He played The Chain most concerts last tour and so well and finished just about every concert with Kiwi, what an experience. You will not regret seeing him live. He did a great cover of Joni Mitchells Big Yellow Taxi on BBC Radio 2 Breakfast. To get insight into Harry watch his interview with Zane Lowe and the full Howard Stern interview, his most revealing interviews to date. He was musical guest and host of SNL he is more than a just an amazing singer/songwriter. Starred in an award winning movie, Dunkirk. Modelled for Gucci. Co hosted the Met Gala. Then of course there is Carpool Karaoke. It appears there is nothing he can't do. He is the real deal, here to stay.

dude i love your reactions so so much. your appreciation of him as a performer and your appreciation of him and his band as musicians is just so satisfying to watch. so glad you've become a fan! just some fun background info about his guitarist (mitch) seeing as you appreciated him shredding: he was introduced to harry through a mutual friend and was working in a pizza place at the time! he almost didnt make the band because he had a shift at work. crazy to think. he's also now engaged to sarah the drummer which is very cute.
and YES to seeing harry live! ive seen him twice now and he's unreal. i have tickets for a show next year and would happily see him 10 more times. i would love to see you react to a live performance of his from tour rather than an official recorded session. he's definitely a whole different person in front of his fans (aka more himself). medicine at st paul probably displays this best and is also just an amazing song. unfortunately he never recorded an official version and would only sing it on tour so we just have to savour the fan recordings. can't wait for your tiny desk reaction!

I have only become a fan since the release of fine line, but I hope I can get tickets to see him live as his gigs look amazing from what I have seen on TH-cam. He really does seem to have it all, amazing voice, great songwriter, fantastic stage presence and can engage a crowd and put on a show like the best of them. Added members stepping in for Clare since 2019 (his Fine Line (sophomore album era))
    Keyboardist: Charlotte

    So many great performances....
Tiny Desk will bring you up to speed on his second album, Fine Line.
But, essential to his discography is Sign of the Times, live on the Graham Norton Show, from his self-titled first album. It so shows off his fabulous voice but also how "tight" his band has always been.
    For the future:
    - Girl Crush at the BBC if you want to hear his higher range showcased.
    - Medicine at St. Paul, an unreleased song, if you want a huge blast of that live "energy".

Ok HS band 101: HS1 era, including Kiwi and this cover of the Chain: Sara Jones drums vocals, Mitch Rowland, guitar and Adam Pendergast bass. these three stayed for HS2 era. Also Clare Uchima keyboard and vocals, sang in this cover, left after HS1era.
HS2 era added Charlotte, keyboard (usually ) guitar and vocals and NyOh (Niaomi) vocals, guitar (usually) and keyboard. At tiny Desk concert NyOh stood behind Harry while Charlotte was near piano.
BTW Mitch cowrote both albums, and also played drums on some of recordings.

This was a last minute appearance by them on the Live Lounge. A band cancelled and Radio 1 knew Harry was in London at the moment and asked if he was interested in filling in and of course he said yes. This is obviously the result. He has a more recent appearance on the Live Lounge which is worth watching as well.

Harry live is a force unto itself. When touring is allowed again, all I’m waiting for is seeing Harry perform. It’s an experience. BBC Girl Crush, Falling at the Brits, both albums in full are just a few recommendations. Once you fall down the rabbit hole, everything he performs seems to become something you want others to see and enjoy too. I like hearing your perspective and thoughts on the music. Looking forward to Tiny Desk!

Hello! This is Harry's original keyboardist. Her name is Claire Uchima and she was with the band through the 2018 world Tour. She was replaced by keyboardist Charlotte Clark and Naomi Ludlow, who is not strictly a keyboardist. She plays several different instruments on stage mostly notably acoustic guitar.
Just in case no one else has mentioned, the rest of the band is Mitch Rowland on guitar and Adam Prendergrast on bass.

The bass is Adam Pendergast, he’s played in other popular bands. The front guitar is Mitch Rowland, this is his first professional band. On the new album Fine Line, there is a song She the band goes full Pink Floyd and Cherry there’s a small rock guitar section. I’m with you...I would LOVE to see a straight rock song from this band. I know Medicine and Kiwi are an almost alternate rock but I mean ROCK! There is a part of the fandom who would take a song like that from them into the history books! 🤘🏻

  • @suvijii841
    @suvijii841 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

You’re doing great! So far you’ve managed to pick up the best live performances, and that is the way to go. The thing with live performances is, that there are many versions recorded with phone, and the audio is kinda poor. So, for the good live performances I recommend:
    - Almost any performance At The BBC - series, but highly recommend “Girl Crush”. Yet another cover, but he just makes it his own.. as usual.
    - Medicine at St. Paul: fan recording, but very, very good performance by Harry
    .
If you are thinking about going to single songs, you should consider few things first.
I think Harry’s songs are best seen as a part of the bigger picture that are his albums. He chooses his singles well, and they usually work as individual songs (such as Kiwi), but many songs work the best when you listen the whole album. Also, the first self-titled album has more rock sound, so the stuff is very different comparing to the Fine Line album. So, if you really want to hear the evolving, try to listen the albums in chronological order.
The difference between his 1st and 2nd album are IMO the influences. I think the first album has kinda obvious undertone of the references and little nods to other songs/musicians. It is not a bad thing, especially when he doesn’t straightforwardly copy but rather borrows some elements, and yet somehow makes them his own. It’s like when a friend borrows something from your wardrobe and looks so good wearing it that you just forgive him for borrowing it without asking. Just keep it..!
Anyhow; the influences on the first album are clear and obvious, and that is the only thing that leads me rating it 4/5. However, the “Fine Line” album is straight 5/5. You can really hear the progress, and most importantly, his own voice and style. HS has said that the last couple years he has been struggling w/ some issues and finding himself, and that really shows in Fine Line. There might be some influences (isn’t there always?), but overall Fine Line, I think, is The Real Harry Styles, and we can hear it loud and clear. The self-titled album is good, FL is just.. great. First time I listened to it I kinda put it in the background and started to do something else, but I had to stop and sit down, just listening. It’s a coherent, solid album with no loose ends or missed targets. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that HS is only 26, and I feel there is yet so much more that we can expect from him in the future.
Sorry for the long-ass comment! If you made it this far, here are my picks for the single songs: From self-titled you already did Kiwi, so I would go to the obvious first hit “Sign of the times” next. My personal favs are “Sweet creature” and “Ever since New York”, but for a rock fan maybe “Only Angel” (not my fav, but hey; it has cowbell!).
From Fine Line definitely “Adore you” WITH extended music video, opening track “Golden” and the closing track “Fine Line”, and for the guitar fan, “She”.
Keep up the good work, I'm with you in this train :)

    • @SoundVapors

Hey, loved your reaction. If you want to keep the Harry and Fleetwood Mac streak, you should watch his speech for Stevie Nick’s induction to R&R hall of fame + his performance with Fleetwood Mac for stop dragging my heart around that same night.
Prior to that he also performed The Chain together with fleetwood Mac (it was maybe the year before? Not sure)
Also, he performed with Stevie a few time and they did landslide, leather and lace and Harry’s Two Ghosts.
Not only is he a huge Fleetwood Mac fan, he’s close friends with Stevie and she is an even bigger fan of his.

He's already played the Hollywood Bowl in 2017 and it sold out in seconds. MSG is an experience. Many music critics were blown away and the place actually shook during Kiwi. He has 5 upcoming shows this year at MSG, 3 for his Love On Tour and 2 for a special event called Harryween. They'll most likely be postponed b/c of covid but if you can attend MSG whenever he goes, I'd highly recommend.
