I have seen her many times in person, and she is nothing short of pure amazing! Her voice is crystal clear and so haunting. She sings songs that quietly (and sometimes otherwise)portray her activism which is totally typical of the Irish background. She has also made efforts to get and learn very old songs rarely sung, in order to keep alive the heritage of the music sung in Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and Great Britain. Every time she comes to this area, a point is made to see her again. She really IS that good!! She is unforgettable!!
I am the biggest fan of Irish Music ever. Solas is my favourite band and Karan Casey is my favourite singer. I have all of her albums and all of Solas' albums. Karan Casey sings with feeling and she puts her heart into all these gorgeous songs. Karan Casey is such an inspiration to my own song writing and she is one of the biggest legends in my life. Keep it up Karan, you are wonderful
Her voice is only rivaled by her beauty. I don't understand a word, I have no relatives or ancestors from Ireland, nor have I ever been there. But Karan and her song still managed to stir up some emotions, somehow.
This is a beautiful version, by a wonderful singer, of a song about my home county. This lovely gentle mountain range can be viewed from almost anywhere in Co. Waterford, and the views from the summits are stunning.🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
The Comeraghs are a magical place, from which my great great grandparents came to North Tipp. This song captures that magic, mystique and beauty perfectly.
what a gorgeous singer ! i could listen to her all night singing this haunting song. theres nothing to touch her on xfactor or anywhere else for that matter. the musicians are also excellent too. many thanks for downloading.
I went to c her last night and she was amazing. My fave singer is on great form. and she dedicated a song to me, and I did a duet with her called "One I love..." This was an amazing night. Karan u r my angel x
Beautiful. I've heard a few songs with variants of this melody, usually at an increased tempo. "The Girl that Slighted Me" and "I heard the Cross of Jesus" come to mind. This must be a very old melody.
I remember coming across this back in 2010 using StumbleUpon, when I had a weird celtic music phase Now, 9 years later and two hours of Google trying to guess the title, I finally found it again. I am home.
Get addicted to Karan! She is amazing! I have all of her albums and I am her biggest fan and if you want to ask me about her songs and what to go for then I will tell all. I know all of her songs and everything that she has done.
Tá sé seo ar cheann des na hamhráin ab fhearr a chuala mé le fada an lá anuas. Baineann sé leis na Comaraigh mar a bhfuil ceantar aoibhinn álainn le feiscint i measc cuid den dream atá fágtha. .
@Caitlynsirisheyes I sung with her in camden. I am her biggest fan and it was an honour for me to actually see her live. I cried in like every song lol. She is amazing isn't she? I have all her albums and know all her songs x
The studio version of this song is on the Paul Winters & Friends album " Celtic Soltice".And, yes, Karan Casey is singing it. You can get it on iTunes. The studio version is much better.
@coirpeach1 I don't understand lyrics, but the song is really sweet... and this performer has got a very beautiful voice. Pity such talented and decently looking singers often remain unknown, when others become famous through the shocking behaviour and scandals.
Do u only have Ships In The Forest? If you like her then you should get more of her stuff. I have all her albums but what more can a dedicated Karan fan do eh? Do you want me to post you some more of her songs. I can get videos of her in concert and stuff and post them in. All her songs are equally brilliant! Go Karan!
Perhaps this is much the same song, but in this, its probable original language, who'd know? In fact, I just looked up Star of County Down on wiki - yes, it has its very own page - and this melody as well as others which are almost identical form the basis for several songs in this tradition.

Karan transport me into a different time in a distant place dear to my heart, though I have never been there except in my dreams.
One of the most beautiful voices I've ever heard.
Cry worthy.

I'm so happy to hear this song. Love it so much...
Anyone who ever fought for something and lost, then tried again; will understand.
@Osikaa Spot on! She has a lovely timbre, and she puts across the soul of the song - like a knife through the heart!
Now You often sing in my home on the south of Poland.
Beautiful. I've heard a few songs with variants of this melody, usually at an increased tempo. "The Girl that Slighted Me" and "I heard the Cross of Jesus" come to mind. This must be a very old melody.

The Highland Sessions. Made by Pelicula Films who also made the more well known Transatlantic Sessions.
@coirpeach1 I don't understand lyrics, but the song is really sweet... and this performer has got a very beautiful voice. Pity such talented and decently looking singers often remain unknown, when others become famous through the shocking behaviour and scandals.
The song refers to the flower, not the mountains. She also recorded this as a member of Solas.
I love this song! It's really not just about Connemara. Beannacht.
Hi Mar - in fact it's not about Connemara at all. It's about the Comeragh Mountains in Co. Waterford.
just amazing!
Is there a translation of this anywhere? It's beautiful.
Go raibh maith agut. ......
@Mischi2k You can find it on the album 'The Words that Remain' by Solas when Karan was still with the group.
Hi

I have looked high and low...even went so far as to ask relatives to get them from Europe and can not find them anywhere.
Gorgeous
Thanks so much
You like Karan 2? She is amazing isn't she?
Not to be listened to if feeling depressed as it will make you weep! (Says he, drying his eyes...)
Anyway, Karan is trained in Jazz studies as well. She is really talented.
Great voice
Grew up looking at The Comeragh Mountains, never heard of this song before but it's a gem. Is Karen from The Deise? Thanks for posting.
Gotta love a girl in wellies.
Is that Mary Ann Kennedy on the harp?
Anybody got a clip of Karan singing 'Donal Og'?
*tear*
@InMotionVids Gaelic, the real language of Ireland, Scotland and Walesas .
Thanks
Brilliant

Up the rebels!
Is that Iain McDonald (formerly of Battlefield Band) playing a cocus Grinter Bb?
