Where are my ActiveCampaign users at? Will you be using this event tracking method?

Any clue why Active Campaign just does not let you get contact id when you have site tracked enabled? e.g. you already have user tracked by AC script, and now all you need to do is trigger events. But you can not - because you have to additionally capture contact id yourself. Am I missing something here?

Will this be able to track the activity of users prior to being added to one's email list? For example - I want to tag users based on the utm values of the landing page where they came from prior to signing up. Sometimes the utm values are being stripped from the url so the optin form's hidden fields doesn't capture the utms. I want to be able to accurately tell the source of the contact prior to their first signup.

I would like to do the reverse of what you have described in this video. I want to track if they clicked on a button, on a landing page I set up in Active Campaign in Google Analytics (send the data from GTM through to Google) - I do not want to see activity in active campaign but in Google analytics. Is it the same process I would follow if it was just a standard website page ? - I have concerns about the domain of the landing page - as it differs from the website domain and the sub domain of the main website. It has like .ac etc in the Active Campaign URLs - looking at my clients domains on the website settings on Kajabi I do not see that this .ac subdomain has been linked to the main website. I added the GA tracking code to the header of the Active Campaign page but I am a bit sus about whether GA picked it up as unfortunately the reporting is not showing me the specific URL , although the page title does match the Kajabi page title. Should I follow standard steps or is there something I should know about Active Campaign?

You talk about using cookies. With 3rd party cookies being phased out in google chrome, will your solution be affected by this?

How is event tracking GDPR compliant? (Apart from giving European visitors a heads up that they will be tracked in a non anonymous way. But then, no European will accept cookies!).

I am planning to setup a timer based trigger, so whenever a user stays on a page for more than 15 seconds they will enter an automation or so that we can setup point system

I might be wrong, but if you have sent a contact an email and they click on a link that takes them to your website - if you have site tracking enabled in ActiveCampaign, a cookie will be placed on the user's device. Now, whenever that user lands on your website, it will be tracked. You can test this by sending a campaign to a dummy user that you receive the emails to - then open it on a different device and click the link to go to your website. You should then see the activity agains tthe contact. Then close the browser tab/session down and just go direct to your homepage on that device. site tracking fro mactive camapign must be working on all pages you want to track. You should now see that this contact has visited that page you typed in directly. You can then set an automation off from this. However, to know whether they have been on for a specific duration I am not so sure. I question why if the goal is an engagement point system. If so, perhaps a point system based on the different pages they are visiting, and even a points system based on the number of times they have visited the same page may be more effective? (But I don't know you use case and I am assuming).

    Why not just use Zapier?

too expensive for tracking. But Julian talks about this in the first minute of the video :)
