Sight isn’t their primary sense, like you said. It’s scent first, then hearing as their secondary sense. So losing eyesight for them would be like if we lost our sense of smell. It would suck, but it wouldn’t really change how we interpret the world too drastically. Still this dog is beautiful and tenacious and I’m so glad she lives with such wonderful humans.
Thankfully this dog had people who gave her all the love and care she needed. To get back to being that lovable playful dog. I wish this family all the best.
In reality, nobody but a dog knows what they are thinking. I wouldn’t assume. Until a few years ago they thought they only humans are capable of introspection. They probably don’t reminisce, but it probably does confuse them to be able to do something one day and then to lose that ability.
I don't know about this. We had a cat we had a neutered and he was very sad about that. I know a lot of people will say I'm being anthropomorphic but that's not true... He would lick himself and then look at us as if he blamed us for his missing nuts. We had to do it though... He kept getting attacked by stray male cats.
I work in vet med where we do a lot of leg amputations and eye enucleations. You wouldn't believe the will to live and the way they adjust. The natural fight and instinct is inspiring.
@jn8922 he knew he had a procedure. You're probably his comfort, so he looked for you for comfort when he hurt or was confused. He did not know you "tOoK hIs MaNhOoD"
We were so sad when our rescue suddenly went blind. He was pitiful for weeks but now I'm shocked how well he has adapted! He has the whole house mapped out and we try not to move things. He's such a happy boy again and so incredibly smart! Animals are so resilient if given love and patience ..
After my mom died her little dog lost her one good eye. She was just learning our house when it happened. But she learned her way and was so inspiring how she still had a good time. She was old too, 16 at the time. She made it two more years, bouncing around and bossing her siblings. Dogs are so resilient!
Thank you for being a loyal pet parent & providing love & joy despite her "handicap" they truly teach US so much- to live in the moment & make the most of it!!!
it is the worst feeling i've ever experienced. my ex was so depressed the whole time we were together and in the end she couldn't even love herself enough to make it work for us. all i ever wanted was to help her.
I can't imagine how scary it must be, to be losing your eyes and the people you love and trust most can't even tell you why or properly assure you it'll be okay. You just have to trust them to keep taking care of you, even when you can't do anything but (literally) blindly follow them. She looks so happy, though, so that tells me she really does trust you with all her little heart 🩷
Unlike humans animals rely heavily on scent and sound to survive. Your dog can hear you and smell you long before they see you and that's why she is so happy still.
your dog actually understands more about its world through its nose than any other organ. their eyes are not good at perceiving far away, color, or anything holding still. dogs and cats have an entire seperate organ for detection of smells, called a jacobsons organ. they will be okay, just less visually reliant.
She may have lost her eye site, but never lost her spirit abs will to live. God bless her such a heart breaking story but such a beautiful outcome. 🙏🏽♥️💐💌
Oh poor puppers.. but having a loving and supportive family will hopefully be the light she needs. I hope her days are filled with joy despite her disability. ❤
I’m glad she is no longer in pain. I can’t even imagine how terrifying it would be to wake up one day in complete darkness. And not understanding why. So traumatic. May she be blessed with happiness and good health for all the rest of her days. ❤❤❤
Elle est tellement magnifique et résiliente,ça brise le 💔, mais l' amour que sa maman et son papa lui témoignent l'ont aidé à traverser cette dure épreuve....🙏🥰
My vet told me when we had our dogs eye removed thinking the other would go bad soon…a blind dog is a happy dog. They acclimated better than humans and faster as well. Especially because of their sense of smell.
I’m truly glad she’s feeling better. My daughters Shepard had an autoimmune disorder that would make her lose her toe nails. She was doing better for a while but then she got a tumor in her spleen. They had to put her down. She lost her cat two weeks later from feline AIDS. I hope she lives a long happy life. God bless you all.
This is a beautiful story but I just picture the dogs point of view when they wake up and everything just pitch black must have been a pretty spooky experience.
@@369ladynadathey already are very tuned into those senses, its humans who rely too much on our eyesight. most animals have vision beyond that of their eyes, their nose and ears being a dogs best assets. dogs dont even have that good vision and only have 2 color cones in their eyes. dogs have around 300 million olfactory receptors in their nose, compared to the 6 million in humans. the part of their brain responsible for analyzing smells is also 40 times greater than ours. they also posses a jacobsons organ, which is a secondary olfactory sensory organ that humans have lost. they identify each other and objects based on their smell.
Dogs rely mostly on smell and hearing, so going blind luckily isn't nearly as life altering for them as it is for people. Dogs are also smart, her eyesight had already been declining and she was in pain, so she very likely understood there was something wrong with them. She probably also got proper pain medication after the surgery, so I'd like to imagine the relief would overweigh the fear and confusion
She likely had terrible headaches so having her eyes removed once the diagnosis was so clear , was probably a great relief. Bless you all and wishing you a happy pain free joyful life ❤❤❤
It’s devastating to see her and other dogs having to get eyes removed. But it’s for the best. Now she is back to her old self. She looks very happy and still very cute.
I hope there is a longer version somewhere, as this story is complicated and complex. The vet seemed to get it wrong initially, and Jubilee suffered to some extent. When the owners finally got the correct diagnosis, it was pretty devastating. I would like to see the story in a much fuller version.
My aunts dog was wrongly diagnosed by a vet and It killed her. She got into pond water in their back yard and became sick. Without lab work vet ordered antibiotics. Dog got worse. They went to different vet and dog was diagnosed with blastomycosis. The original antibiotic was not the correct treatment and kicked the disease into high gear. The damage could not be reversed. The dog died.
Many autoimmune conditions are notoriously difficult to diagnose in addition to many being rare. The first diagnosis was not correct, but no vet would suspect an autoimmune condition from a mild eye irritation after a few days. When it didn't clear up is probably when they got suspicious it was more.
Yeah, wrong diagnoses can be devastating. My dog was originally diagnosed with a fast moving cancer by one vet, and when we took her a while later to a different vet, they thought she had a terrible viral infection. It was too late though, and she passed away in her sleep. She tried, but she just couldn’t bounce back even after getting the correct diagnosis and medicine. I’m glad this dog got the help she needed eventually, though. She’s very pretty :)
since you seem to know more, can you tell me why she looks like a completely different dog in some clips? the fur on her entire head turned white, but not just in areas where she was shaved.
