I really loved Gabi in "The Next Right Thing", but her live performance here gives me the same feeling as her movie version. It's like she isn't 100% there, like holding back and not letting herself dive into the song.
She is not singing in her original tone, her natural voice is more mature, she uses a technique to sing in a more youthful tone. Maybe that's why you have this feeling...
