Probably there are filler type solutions. The borax can be brushed on. In fact for timber treatment for housing, they quickly dunk the timber through a bath, but here I want the borax to really get inside the damage in stead of just on the surface. One could make up a fine sawdust and glue paste. I have done it, it sort of works, but because of the glue coloring issues appear in the varnishing. This is the more traditional method, and works the best of what I have tried. Yes, tedious,, but if the immunizing is done correctly it does not advance further, and it is surprising how fast you can actually get through it.

I think you could spend a lifetime doing that and not even catch up with the damage. Can't you brush treatment on, and use a spatula applied filler
