There is no Princess "Kate" and I'm sure by now you have seen her name, Princess Catherine of Wales. She changed her name to Catherine, and given the Title Catherine Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William, who became Prince William Duke of Cambridge in 2011.
If you're a Commentator or a Writer, you should know The Royal Family forbids the use of Nicknames. If you choose to do so, it is very disrespectful.

The only thing I would add is that her birth name is "Catherine" and that is what friends & family call her. The media & papparazi nicknamed her "Katie" for headlines during the 10 years she dated Prince William, but she never spelled her name with a "K" & as the next Queen, prefers using her real birth name. Such a beautiful classy lady! ♥🔱⚘

Absolutely no question of disrespecting. The large media houses TV and TH-cam channels frequently and usually refer her as such and the British Govt. Never objected it.❤❤
@user-ll6hw8wh7r Prince William of Wales gave direct instructions to the Media before and after he and Catherine were married, to not invade Catherine The Duchesss of Cambridge space. Even Prime Minister David Cameron stepped in to follow the privacy for the two Royals. The media does not have authority over the monarchy. She was born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, and was given the Title Catherine Duchess of Cambridge when she married Prince William Duke of Cambridge from Queen Elizabeth.
She still holds that Title along with several more King Charles gave her. Most notably, she issued Catherine Princess of Wales. Any form of her name as Kate is considered invalid.

The Princess of Wales married 12 years ago & dropped her maiden name. "Princess Catherine" has the same title and position as her late mother in law, "Princess Diana". She is the next Queen of the UK and Commonwealth.
