      Hector Alers Hi Hector, thank you for your feedback. I really appreciated. I used the Cunningham book as a foundation and relied on my best judgment and a lot of trial and error!

    It is ballistic nylon coated in a two part polyurethane. I ordered from the Skin Boat School

    Excellent, I hadn't seen this method yet. As the old saying goes,
    "There's more than one way to frame up a skin-over boat!"
    ...or was it something about a cat? paddle on.

      I now have Chris' book in the mail and Morris' book in hand. Hope to paddle one of these soon.

    Hey.. I just ordered his book. few questions please:
    What was the toughest part of the build?
    total over all cost for all materials not inc tools.?
    and whats the width of your build and your height and weight?
    thanks

    • @kylesteward4965
      @kylesteward4965  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris toughest part for me was sewing the skin on, cost was approx. $500.00, my kayak is 18feet long and 21inches wide. I am 6'1"

    what model Qajaq did you build?

    • @kylesteward4965
      @kylesteward4965  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Chris no specific model. The build started off as a very calculated and as I went along it became much more "feeling" based. I salvaged lots of cheap lumber and built parts from that to get the look and feel I wanted while following some rough guidelines/images. Once I liked what I had, I made the final piece with the appropriate wood and installed.

      Kyle Steward nice.. I'm starting my own first ever build next week.. Or whenever Cunningham's book arrives lol but im going to scale it to a really low volume 19 foot, 20.5 inch wide South Greenland. I'm nervous but excited. I'm not that great with wood working but got some friends who are..
