    I've dealt with wiring IDF's (Network closets) and had no idea about the "Universal" patch panels. Really nice to know about the universal patch panel.

    I'd put 3 screws in the kit. Sometimes one of the screws falls down somewhere where people cannot recover it at the moment (under the furniture, under a heavy device).
    I have one networking mission a year and each time I come back to your channel to refresh my knowledge and learn new stuff. Hopefully one day my business will grow enough so I can afford importing from USA so I can support your channel.
    Thank you!

    good explanation Jim. thank you for posting. I find those handy for really small offices that don’t need a full-blown 24pt nor a data cabinet. 😀

    And now I know why I have issues with the patch panel I bought off Amazon for my church. I didn't know the difference, and bought one with "universal" punchdown.

    Lots of good information in this video. The video quality is not as high as you normally produce. It didn't stop me from picking up good tips though -- thanks!

    Goof video Jim, thanks. I was surprised by how easily you removed the wires from the back of the patch-panel during your demonstration. I thought the punch down would make them more secure. I worry about the stress on the wires during the mounting portion of the process. Is that an issue?

    Can you please talk more about crossover cable? I thought for Patch Panels you want to use crossover cables?

    • @CableSupply
      @CableSupply  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You only use a crossover cable on like devices. For example computer to computer. You don't need a crossover patch cable on a patch panel to a switch. When you're going from switch to switch on some older equipment you need a crossover cable to connect two switches together. However today most newer switches have the intelligence to know when a crossover patch cord is plugged in or a straight through patch cord is plugged in.

    I use a large, straight edge finger nail cutter for the ends.

    • @CableSupply
      @CableSupply  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's a new one for me. you can use a "punch-down" tool or if you are only doing one patch panel try using sisers.

    ok, got same patch panel but i got cat 6a cable. im confused with order. You say in video always start with blue, then blue white then you say brown green then orange - picture shows blue- blue'white then green and green/white then brown etc

    Can all 12 cat6 cables be fed from the same side, or is it better to have 6 cables coming in from either side of the patch panel?

    Question regarding patch panel usage. Can a patch panel be used to extend the distance of ethernet?
    Meaning cable ran to the rear of the house can terminate into a patch panel that connects to a patch panel on the front of the house. Builder ran cables to closet (rear of house) and I want to run from closet to office (front of house).

    • @CableSupply
      @CableSupply  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Calvin, You must use a switch to extend a cable run beyond 100 meters.

      I wouldn't run from one patch panel to another. It would be best to run any new wires to that patch panel. It's best to have the least amount of connection points. Every connection point is also a fail point, so the least amount of breaks from point A to point B is your best option

    How do you know what area on the back relates to the port on the front. i.e if i want to patch port 1, where do i put the wires in the back?

    • @CableSupply
      @CableSupply  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It should be marked clearly on the back where you punch down the cable. I plan to make a video on this product this week. I hope that will help.

    • @LiveCasinoComparer
      @LiveCasinoComparer 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@CableSupply Ok thanks. It's not clear on the back. I have 12 ports on the front but only 6 plastic blocks on the back, so i assume one block covers two ports, but it's not clear where you start and end for each port on the back. A video explaining this will help immensely as would one explaining which of the different config options A or B you should pick and whether it matters as long as it's the same right across your home network.

      We plan to release a video on April 16th explaining how to install and cable the 12 Port vertical wall mount patch panel. I believe this video will answer all your questions and we'll actually demonstrate what you need to do to get the patch panel to work properly. Hope this helps thank you for your purchase and thank you for viewing r videos.
