Fun fact about ides of March. It was seen as honorable to kill a enemy by plunging your weapon down behind the left shoulder blade, as it was a insta kill because you are destroying the spine and heart.
I can't help but feel that Centurion is purposely being flashy and inefficient. His inefficiency would be him taking it slow to show off rather than not killing and I think that's the point. He ear piercingly loud and very flashy to the point that he's trying to draw the enemies towards him rather than his allies. In "It takes guts", he says a line that was something like "You won't hurt my friends/allies ever again" and it just felt really personal. He is a proud warrior and he refuses to see his troops and allies die so he draws the attention to himself to give a chance to his allies either to escape or focus on enemies that they can handle.
A large part of roman culture was not to leave anyone behind so they would likely not retreat while leaving him behind despite him wanting to make a sacrafice
I always thought Cent fought in a manner I would expect of a gladiator, like how he's always shouting out about how magnificent he is, how weak his opponent is, and generally being a big showman, even more than the actual Gladiator hero.
Cent just feels like a team player with a sadistic nature to bringing his enemies pain, through either not killing them or being VERY BRUTAL when he wants to kill them which explains many of his more inefficient kills.
16:10 I think this is a perfect example for why better gore should be implemented, I don't believe this should have taken off the head, but imagine this, it nearly does. Here's what I mean, the back-hand going into the first slash cuts out a decent chunk of the neck, blood flies with it pouring down his chest, while the second cut goes the rest of the way about 60-70%, the punch breaks what little bone is keeping the head in place, and the head is dislocated still attached by some sinew as the body falls to the ground. The only reason why I'm still around for the For Honor content is because of the executions in the game, especially Warmonger's most recent one. I would totally get back into the game if they overhauled the gore mechanics, as some say in Warhammer, "BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!!! SKULLS FOR THE SKULL THRONE!!!" Besides my complaints with how the game generally is, your videos are great, and I look forward to quite a few other series you got, also, "Centuri-bear" is badass, could be better with a Scutum, but I guess that'll make him too similar to BP...
He is one of my favorite characters when it comes to looking like an Ancient Roman. Makes me feel like I’m playing as Maximus Decimus Meridius, aka Russel Crowe’s character from Gladiator
For Brutal Beating, I agree with the 2 in lethality for many of the reasons that you said. A cut across the gut (the way Cent actually does this is about as good as you’re going to get from a reverse grip) would very likely not be lethal especially for a thrusting weapon like a gladius. The only chance here where the Warden dies is actually the stab to his foot where Cent could have cut his Medial artery and he dies to blood loss (yes, there are major arteries even in your feet). As for the efficiency: Cent is trying to stab his neck. Veni Vidi Vici comes in with a similar strike. By the way, Veni Vidi Vici actually allows you to move before he falls down, Cent doesn’t just wait there if used in game. For knock your block off, you got the grade right for realism but for the wrong reason. You absolutely can cut through a neck with two slashes of a gladius. However, your target has to be locked in place and not moving. Warden acts like his body instantly got rigor Mortis the moment Cent touched him, that first punch should have knocked him over if not the first slash. Espana Abrachium should have a 1 in realism. If you pierced through the spinal column, it is indeed possible to rip the blade out through the side the way Cent does here. (There’s nothing but soft tissue and muscle from that low on the body) It would REALLY Jack up your sword, but technically possible. Cutting the arm off in the process though… Ala lacta est’s 2 pommel strikes followed up with a kick is a reference to the cutscene combo. GB, 2 light pummels, throw is the most classic opener for it. I know it’s probably a little annoying to see nitpicking in the comments, but I can’t help but throw my two cents in when I myself dabble in swordplay and use some of these from time to time. Nonetheless, another fantastic addition to a great series my man!
I'm pretty sure the Pollice Verso execution is a reference to the end of Gladiatorial Matches, where Roman emperors would use a thumbs up / down motion to gesture whether or not a gladiator would be killed in the arena.
I think we also gotta remember that the speed of execution is related to how much health you got. So longer equals more health shorter is less obviously so devs mightve purposely added some flashy stuff to make them longer
Its always an amazimg thing how resistant and vulnerable the human body is but what wonders me most, how little people think of the resistance our bodies can put up. It really takes a good attack to our vitals to put us out immediately or quite a many lacerations that are irecoverable. But well lets hope education with Raven will do its job.
in that moment in veni vidi vici where cent is standing there while warden falls you can actually move around. obviously wouldn’t change the score but it’s cool

Raven, for the Glorious execution, I would give realism a 2 is because of the stab/thrust into the chest, but that would be the only reason it would be a 2
In that veni vidi vici execution, the centurion standing still is a symptom of the preview. In actual gameplay, after he touches the ground with both feet, you're free to run around and fight other enemies as the opponent falls dead.
I like the kneel before me execution because it shows Centurion’s skill with the gladius. I’m glad it’s actually one of his default executions. I think Raven forgot to notice that Centurion was using the sword reverse grip in “Kneel before me” which is one of his pet peeves with when people use a sword in a reverse grip. Another execution I like from Centurion is Veni Vide Vici because it is a reference to the first fight scene in Troy where Achilles killed the Thessalonian Champion Boagrius with little to no effort.
I did notice the reverse grip, but it didn’t bother me as much in Kneel Before Me because none of those strikes were lethal or meant to be. They were meant to make superficial cuts to bring the target down. I only get mad when a reverse grip is used to do significant damage or death, as reverse grips lessen the amount of force that can be applied.
Considering what Centurions are in lore, the lowest Cool factor he'll have is 3. He's a inspiration to troops, he is proud, loud, and *very* flashy. The thing about Veni Vidi Vici, is after he lands, after a second you are free to move and do whatever while the warden is still stumbling, he does NOT stand around absentmindedly. The only reason he does it here is because its an execution preview, and not actual gameplay, so there's no controlling him, nowhere for him to go. In an actual battle, your side of the execution would be done and you can fight before he falls to the ground.
Honestly I predicted a fair score on Centurion. He doesn't really have much bad executions, with the either being amazingly flashy or incredibly efficient. Definitely one of my favorite heroes, wish his score was higher but I agreed with most if not all scorings. Thanks for the Video Raven
The veni vidi vici execution in game lets you move around immediately after stabbing he just stands around in the menu just to show the enemy animation of falling
I'm so glad kneel before me got a perfect score. Easily my favorite centurion execution, without fail has me going "Knee! Knee! THROAT!!!" And then onto the next target
The Man, the Myth, the INCREDIBILIS! I have to disagree with the takes on Brutal Beating and Fortiter et Recte, specifically about what their finisher moves are. At the end of those executions, to me it seems pretty obvious that Centurion is slashing the throat, not the chest and face, like you said in the review. And I think you are underselling the slashing/chopping capabilities of the gladius somewhat. Yes it is primarily a thrusting weapon, but it has some heft to it and can chop relatively decently. Other than those, very fair and honest grading, the result is satisfactory.
For Brutal Beating: The slash upward starts from the lower pectoral, up the chest, into the neck, and then threw the chin. There is no verifiable way to know how deep it is, and thus I cannot consider it as fully lethal. The direction of his strike demonstrates this. I'm honestly not sure how you think it was a neck slash, as it's clear Centurion is doing a very long verticle swing. Nothing resembling a neck slash, and we see Warden's head rock back from the impact, meaning the blow was verticle. Same goes for Fortiter et Rectes. If you think it was a neck lash, very well. But it's a very poor looking one. Bare in mind I own a gladius. I have tested its chopping capabilities. It can certainly chop well if the object is on a flat surface or is properly tensed. I think many people underestimate the density and strength of human bone.
Raven Knight is the For Honor TH-camr not many know of, but those who do love him! I don't think I've seen anyone ever say anything bad about him other than "who's that?"
gladii are actually great cutting weapons, the legions just used them for thrusting because it was better for safety of the soldiers and was more efficient in the formations.
In vidi vini vici (I believe is its name) when centurion stands there you can actually move when you have this execution in game. The enemy stays in the animation while you are able to freely move and fight after the end of centurions running. I'm pretty sure this is the only execution in the game to let you move before the execution animation for the enemy is finished which easily makes it the most efficient in the game. You gave it a 4/4 still and rightfully so but I figured there was a misconception because the game isn't very apparent of this mechanic unless you own this execution.
Lawbringer has one like that as well, “Oh, come on”. It’s the one where he goes to do a big swing, but they fall over before he can do it and he gets mad. You can skip just about half of the actual animation
I’ll say for the Ala Lacta Este (I think I spelled that correct) I’d give Realism a 1 solely for what you mentioned earlier about the tension problems with the other arm-severing executions. Aka Lacta Este doesn’t have the same problem because Warden isn’t limply holding out his arm, he’s actually swinging it pretty hard towards Centurion, meaning that it would’ve probably been easier to cut into the arm and more likely to completely sever it. I say a 1 because it still doesn’t excuse the glancing blow, but that was something I noticed. Love your vids. Also, I personally give Spina ad Brachium a 4 for cool factor cause it was the first execution I ever saw that made me out loud say “Jesus Christ,” and I found that really funny cause it’s so over the top ridiculous.
I feel like the slice up in brutal beating goes across the chest and through the side of the neck not the face. Also in "knock your block off" not only are there accounts of Romans dismembering their enemy's but believe the punch to the weakend barely heald on head is what actually separated it. Tbh.
See the problem i have with the roman uppercut is it takes so much force to actually lift an opponent off the ground from an uppercut that its impossible for humans to actually do. Centurion being able to do that means that that uppercut probably smashed wardens jaw which could lead to a bleed out
Well if you wanna help me pay for a better mic set up, I do have a patreon and a teespring store. That way I can afford a better sound system than the one I have.
My cents rep 62 an I always stop playing a character when I’m at 70 and I’m honestly kinda sad to see him go, put up on the pedestal with Warden, Conq, and LB.
Someone used an execution on me where centurion lifts up his opponent and slams them on the ground before stepping on them and posing with his hands on his hips. I’ve never seen it before and can’t find it anywhere. Is it a mod or some kind of exclusive?
9:18 This is the one I have a disagreement with Because at 9:26 you make a good point it is unrealistic, but I think that’s the point, because I don’t think most people wouldn’t be thinking straight if they were bleeding out from their gut and repeatedly punch in the face with their own fist But then again this list is SUBJECTIVE So I RESPECT YOUR OPINION AND LIKE THIS VIDEO

For aspana a brakia I'm pretty sure that's just slightly below the ribcage and against the side of the spine were he pulles not in it, sow that chances things a little. Before you say no a medieval belt is worn on the natural waste which is just on top of the hips and he plunches the blade in just above that it might contect the lowest ribs, but I doesn't have to break them to get past them. Funny enough for the duel based execution mockery, there are like 2 duel maps that regularly have an actual audience (Excluding maps cosmetically changed for events) No offense but while you are grading the executions, it feels like you mainly play dominion, and dont touch actual duel modes, where you'd be likely to have daubeny shame you from his throne, so there's that bit.
No offense, but did you watch my video explaining the "efficiency" score? I made it clear that I treat ALL executions as if done on a battlefield, where there is fighting going on around the two combatants. I am aware that duel maps exist. I'm aware duels exist. Gotta love seeing him soywojacking on stupid videogame kills 💀
"Kneel Before Me" the slashes are in reverse grip. Are you sure that wouldn't drop the realism?
It would be cool if in addition to the total grading at the end, you also count how many 100% a character has. Just a thought.
I would like to add uppercuts in particular are much more deadly than other forms of blunt force to the head, so personally I’d have gone with a 2
Great video as always!
Heard your mic crackle here and there.
Right?
He should get a new audio set up
Bc the he sounds like he's in his garage 😅
Well if you wanna help me pay for a better mic set up, I do have a patreon and a teespring store. That way I can afford a better sound system than the one I have.
"A Spina Ad Brachium"
Realism: 1
You can stab a guy like that. You just can't do ANYTHING else.
hey! i really enjoy this. thank you
My cents rep 62 an I always stop playing a character when I’m at 70 and I’m honestly kinda sad to see him go, put up on the pedestal with Warden, Conq, and LB.
Thank you for doing my boy well
Veni vidi Vinci, you can move after staying still for a second….shorter than what the execution shows.
The gladius was a lot better at chopping than people tend to think skallagrim has a great vid on it
Someone used an execution on me where centurion lifts up his opponent and slams them on the ground before stepping on them and posing with his hands on his hips. I’ve never seen it before and can’t find it anywhere. Is it a mod or some kind of exclusive?
I thought the overall/hope score would be higher. A bit of a downer, but your points do make sense.
9:18
This is the one I have a disagreement with
Because at 9:26 you make a good point it is unrealistic, but I think that’s the point, because I don’t think most people wouldn’t be thinking straight if they were bleeding out from their gut and repeatedly punch in the face with their own fist
But then again this list is SUBJECTIVE
So I RESPECT YOUR OPINION AND LIKE THIS VIDEO
Great video.
You have to understand he’s just filled with the exaggerated swagger of a black teen
The one where warden and cent struggle that is not reverse grip
20:27 don't worry, centurion is just a paranoid schizophrenic
"Theres no reason you couldnt do this i rhink its totally fine"
Time to puncture peoples lungs (=
With the Roman uppercut he could of at leasttttt threw his sword into the dudes foot
you do know centurions in the past we’re in gladiator fights right?
They could be if they chose to. It wasn't their profession. What's your point?
@@RavenKnightYT well one of the executions u said was too “gladiator like” or u said it looked like something gladiator would do so i just wanted to point that out
For the end of Vini vidi vici when he’s standing there u can move in game right after u Stab him and move on it’s super fast and gives back good health
This was a fair score.
You should add novelty as a category. Or tilt lol
Actually 78% is pretty good for my boy Cent, I mean, Lawbringer and Valk got only two percent more.
Every hero always has their downfall executions which sucks and even Cent wasn’t different with his Uppercut and A Spina Ad Brachium
Yea tbf uppercut isn’t a “execution” much more of a fight won sorta thing he wants them to come back and have a better fight
@@halostormx7827 good point
For aspana a brakia I'm pretty sure that's just slightly below the ribcage and against the side of the spine were he pulles not in it, sow that chances things a little. Before you say no a medieval belt is worn on the natural waste which is just on top of the hips and he plunches the blade in just above that it might contect the lowest ribs, but I doesn't have to break them to get past them. He doesn't have to go true bone to pull it out and if the blade is really sharp I think you might be able to pull it out like this. Again might I would give this a 2 at best aswell cause I'm not compleetly sure either. My beef is with the arm coming of that's not happing, especily not if you rip it true a guy, sow that makes it a 1. I would argue with your cool factor though it's sow f*cking savages I love it, I don't let that effect my judgment though. Apart from that one everything is solide and I agree with you.
I also hate that people always say "What if it's a duel?" It's a war scenario. Lol, no offense.
Unfortunately I get that question asked a lot in these videos. Hahaha. I get so tired of those.
What kinda chest piece is that
Hey this was pretty good!
13:29, In an actual match you regain control of cent once stops.
But For Honor is a world at war. I take that into consideration. So there is that.
Expect to be ram by LB for not giving cent a 100
