I was at this show in Toronto in 1984. Sat two tables in front of the bass player. I've never been the same since that night!!!! RIP S.R.V....
The El Macombo is actually in Canada I believe . Stevie is the greatest guitarist of all time. This is Texas Blues at its best. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of times in the late 70s . I havevseen him play 20 minutes straight once. He was a very humble man and one of the nicest guys you could meet. Stevie and his guitar were like one entity. He died in helicopter crash in 1990 after leaving a concert. RIP Stevie. Great Reaction ❤
Yes, Toronto.
Yes, he is, I started emulating Jimi Hendrix when I was a kid. But when I learned of stevie he became My Guitar Hero. I am naturally talented And never practice because i'm too busy listening to music 😂😂😂
He was possessed this night. This show is legendary. No one. No one can touch his soul and fire here.
I saw Stevie live in 1988 and he was as good if not better. That was when he kicked the drugs and drinking. He was amazing. He closed with the song 'Life Without You" and people sat there stunned for a few min before all getting on their feet cheering as the house lights came up. Saw him in a tiny place that held maybe 1500 people. He did not like doing huge venues. This was before all the video screens used today.
El Mocambo is in Toronto. This is the GOAT, any genre (sorry Jimi), and this is the greatest use of a guitar I have heard in my 58 years.
Without Hendrix there would have no Stevie…in this iteration….he would have found his way though
It is the greatest solo ever captured on video. Period. No one can match what happened that night.
@@sst3d Not the first time a student surpassed the master. Won't be the last.
@@JayLandon64 100% agree
Excellent reaction, man….now, the other one on TH-cam that I see as a companion piece to this performance is Stevie ray Vaughan, “life without you”, live, at the capital theater, Passaic New Jersey, 9/21/1985….it’s up to you, but, I promise u will not be disappointed…..great reaction, liked and subbed:)
We will never see another player like Stevie Ray.
great reaction! I will never get tired of watching peoples faces when they witness true guitar greatness for the 1st time...gets me everytime as well!
He's the one and only. never to be another!! RIP SRV ❤
SRV IS the real deal... not just in his technical mastery, but in his connection to the music and the effortless expression of his soul. A great loss to the world when a helicopter accident took his life in 1990. One of the most humble and kind people God ever loaned us for a while. Thankfully, Stevie Ray's legacy lives on, in both his music and in the difference he's made in so many lives.
Enjoy your new discovery in SRV. So much awaits you. Explore his journeys in blues, Texas blues, blues rock, rock and roll, and jazz. His authenticity, heart, dedication, and presence throughout is mesmerizing and epic!
Be sure to check out his "Leave My Girl Alone" (Austin 1989), "Riviera Paradise," "Pride and Joy," "Change It," "Ain't Gone 'n' Give Up On Love," and so many more. Also his covers of "Voodoo Child" slight return (Austin 1989), "Little Wing," "Tin Pan Alley" with Johnny Copeland, and "Mary Had A Little Lamb." And some of the music videos he and Double Trouble band members did... like "Superstition," "Cold Shot," and "Couldn't Stand The Weather."
Stevie started learning guitar at age 7 by listening to records and radio, idolizing his older brother Jimmy who was a guitarist and using Jimmy's guitar on the sly until he got his own guitar, and sneaking into clubs to listen when he could get away with it. He was actually performing in those same clubs as a young teen. He never learned to read music, but lived and breathed guitar. He looked up to artists like Jimi Hendrix, Lonnie Mack, Albert King, Buddy Guy, and so many more, intrigued by them, and respecting and honoring their talents and love for music.
If you do "Life Without You," you might want to compare the performances of it at both The Capitol Theater and Nashville. Or, for that matter, compare his different performances of any song, and you'll see each performed unique to the moment. But in each, he gives his all.
He got his wawa pedl from Jimmy Hendrix dadhe gave it to hi
Nice writing skills.
💙💙💙💙💙… Stevie Ray Vaughan brought me here … Lovely reaction!! Subscribed!!
El Mocambo, Toronto Canada
An absolutely "Legendary" performance by SRV R.I.P. SRV
People accept mediocrity today in everything. That's real talent.
Wrong, that isn't talent, that's a gift.
I think stevie leaves every reactor speechless, spellbound and generally, awe stricken. He was the fastest strummer I've ever seen. Love U and miss U Stevie. ❤ (Dirty Pool, Montreau, WOW)
Hey dirty pool......yup. you gotit.😀
RIP Stevie~❤
Taken far too young from us.... We will treasure all that he's given us!😭
Saw him live in 88 and never seen anyone better. I am a huge fan of Hendrix, Clapton, Les Paul, Eddie Van Halen+ But no one was like Stevie. RIP
"A very good player" is the absolute understatement of the century.
SRV ~ 🎸🐐 The goatiest goat in all of goatness
Do yourself a HUGE favor:
**Life Without You at Capitol Theater**
**Voodoo Child at Austin City Limits 1989**
This!
I was lucky enough to see him open up for Robert Plant in 1988.He completely seduces you with the guitar not to mention that Voice❤ Great reaction❤Just subbed.Much love from Canada❤🇨🇦
I saw him for that tour as well. Dude blew my mind.
Stevie didn't play guitar, he was actually possessed by it and the guitar played him
That’s it! He tapped into something, a Source of music, like a spring or fountain of energy that no one else could find, allowed it to take him over, and just held on for the ride, or that’s how it seemed when you watched him play live. You never knew what was coming, but neither did he! He would surprise himself sometimes and look at Tommy Shannon like, “What the heck was that!?” I’d look at him and think, “You don’t know? If you weren’t playing that, who was?” I saw him play many times in Austin and Dallas, and I can’t forget.
Yes, absolutely incredible as Stevie always is! The Best!
I was fortunate enough to see SRV up close leaning on the stage at a show where only a couple hundred people showed up. Phenomenal! Great reaction!
Best guitar slinger ever!
Brother, he owned EVERY guitar 😳!
The El Macombo is a small blues bar on Danforth Ave. Toronto Ontario Canada. SRV most iconic performance of Texas flood
The GOAT OF GOATS! 😎🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 it’s in Canada!
The Goat
❤ Absolutely the best there ever was to touch a guitar!!!
this is from July 1983 in Toronto. it was a great show
Nothing could be finer than the El Mo on Spadiner :-)
Thanks, PJA! This is widely known as one of his best live performances... gotta dig the blues...SRV was and is the "GOAT".. taken too soon... (p.s. Stevie Ray VAWN is the pronunciation).. appreciate your reaction.. hope you do more...
You didn't flinch or move for over a minute....Stevie will do that to you.....😊...its the wtf moment 😂.
El Macombo is in Texas. With the best guitar player ever! Texas rule in Blues!!❤
never been there but I have been to the el macombo in Toronto
its not the "texas blues" mirror lickin texas life troll ... its the blues ... you texas "men" are narcisist ...
The Goat RIP❤❤❤❤
Taking a bow while playing behind his back, EPIC !!
I have been in the El Mocambo, which is in Toronto, Canada. The "El Mo" is a bar/venue which has hosted SRV, the Rolling Stones and several other famous acts.
Top top song,So excited live at the el mocambo watched him play for three hours without stopping just unbelievable Beth Hart and Joe Bonamassa Id rather go blind live.😊😊😊
El Mocambo is a Club in Toronto..
Never gets old! 😂
A master of his craft.
I was there that fatal foggy night in Wisconsin when Stevie's copter went into a ski slope. Hella thing
As John Mayer once said, Stevie was channeling all of the greats. His greatest influences were Buddy Guy and Obviously Jimi. But he also combined the styles of so many other blues legends.
mirror licker srv got annoyed because all you sheople kept tryin to campare him with your agenda puppet hendrx ... eric clapton said srv was the best guitarist NOT hendrix ... nuff phukin said mindless sheople ...
El Mocambo is in Canada. Stevie Ray Vaughan reactions must be live as his performance is a show in itself.
The El Macambo is a blues club in Ontario Canada. This song is a cover of a song written by Larry Davis in 1958. It's become a blues standard, but I think SRV's version is the best known. For good reason!
He is from Oak Cliff Texas he' also my brother. ❤❤❤❤
It's called "hybrid picking", using pick and fingers alternately or simultaneously. There's a way to palm (hide) the pick when using the fingers only and then retrieve the pick from palm in one fluid motion to bring it back to gripping it between thumb and forefinger.
Born to play.
One song by SRV that doesn’t get enough credit is ‘Leave my girl alone’ Live at Austin City Limits 🎸
Peak level musician
Stevie Ray was from Texas but I believe the El Mocambo was in Canada
El Mocambo is/was a club in Toronto, Ontario.
Great reaction!!! I subbed hoping for more SRV!!! Try Life Without You live from The Capitol Theater. It’s just amazing!!!!
"El Mocambo" is in Toronto.
El Mocombo is a bar in Toronto Canada
Yeap it is the REAL DEAL. HE'S IS THE GREAEST GUITAR ON THE FACE OF THE PLANET.
GOAT WITH JIMMY PAGE
It’s in Toronto, Canada 🇨🇦🖖🏻
SRV Is from Texas but The El Mocambo is a live music and entertainment venue in Toronto, Ontario. 🇨🇦
El Mocambo in Ontario Canada
Watch sev and Jeff Healy" look at little sister" mind blowing
that was awesome ... they were both holy spirit possessed angel spirits ... jeff healey even got out of his chair and was playing towards the end ... is that the one your talkin about ...
El Mocambo is in Canada
Very few guitarists can walk on stage and close their minds to their surroundings and let the music take over even fewer can play instantly and flawlessly what the music is telling them what to play. Danny Gatton and the Great Django are the only other 2 ive ever heard
LIL WING- EL MOCAMBO CLUB!
It's heart imo
Toronto
The ironic thing is that he never learned how to read music. Played totally by ear. Great reaction to the GOAT. his career only spanned 7 yrs and we lost him way too soon in the fatal helicopter crash.
💯
Its in canada.
Deep red south of CANADA
It's in Toronto
He plays with his fingers and a pick, he holds the pick with his baby finger usually while he plucks with his fingers. You'll notice he slurs his vocals occasionally, that's because he has a spare pick in his mouth.
Check out Riviera Paradise. Nobody reacts that the one true masterpiece in live version.
As has been written, "The only thing NEW in the world is the history you do not know." Broaden your horizons, break the media-mediocre "mold," open your ears to music from Mozart to ?? Start with 30's-50's jazz - 50's-70's rock. PS: Was amazing to listen to SRV many times and in person.
Canada
YEP.
I've heard srv picked up a guitar at age 7. Obviously, he rarely ever put it down after that.
This is the last song on guitar hero 1
his last name is pronounced "vawn"- one syllable
🙂🔥👍
Vaughan rhymes with dawn. The g and h are silent.
🎸🎸🎸
The El Mocambo club is in Toronto Canada. Stevie was in a cocaine induced coma 1 hour before this show started and had to have medical personnel pump him full of vitamins and IV fluids to get him to the stage sweating and on fire.
Bullshit
His guitar needs a cigarette after that.
SRV didn’t play the guitar… the guitar played him.
Incredible!! YES!! LOVE the reaction!! :) Maybe check out NEIL PEART Buddy Rich HONOR?????!!!!!!!!! :) ♥AND, or... Victor Wooten bass magic????????? :) “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Romans 15:13
Welcome to the world of Stevie Ray! Wasn’t he just amazing? You’ve just witnessed the very tip of the iceberg here. I can’t wait to watch you experience more! I’d like to recommend a few:

Showmanship. He learned long before that being a great guitarist was fine but find some showmanship and add that to his repertoire.
Jesus you sheople are dead inside ...
The El Macabio is tooo fault.
I just wanna know why we don't have you in the smallbox. In Stevie rayvon and the big box I mean, what the h***'s going on here, dude really, and it's not even a quarter of the screen. It's like 1/6 of the sgreen. Why do we want to see you? Push the mirror ban out there. And we can watch you in the little box. That's all I got to say seriously?
I want to see Stevie not you! What the F is your problem?
Classical pianist sells piano and buys a guitar.
nah, never lol
