  • We first see the ballerina on a porch at Ivy House having tea with friends. She feeds a black dog at her side.
After tea, Pavlova walls down some stairs with a friend into the garden. Does anyone know who this friend might be?
Then we see Pavlova feeding swans at the edge of a lake in the garden. She then ascends some stairs, ling back to the house.
Finally we see the ballerina seated on the lawn with her common las husband, Victor Dandré. She takes a bird from a cage on a table and pets the little creature beefier releasing it.
    Enjoy!

The essence of lyricism in life and on the stage.

When I went to the house some years ago, I was sad to see the pool had almost dried out, just a last little bit of muddy water in the centre with a couple of distressed dragonflies hovering over it. What a transformation - for the worse.

Tried to visit Ivy House in 1994, but some cow who worked there wouldn't let me in. It had been turned into a School and despite the fact that students were going in and out leasurely. I pleaded my case, offered to donate money, show ID what have you, but the idiotic cow wouldn't have it. I especially wanted to visit the garden, pleaded my case, but oh no...

alain Spiteri - Excuse my hyperbole! Yes, she and Niginsky were more than 'elegant and chic". I wasn't being reductive. But she did transcend prima ballerina assoluta status to become a significant cultural, and I would argue, a fashion icon in the early 20th century.

alain Spiteri It is self evident, Alain. Look at the way she moves and carries herself - off stage as well as on stage. One could argue that it is all performance. My reason for commenting is that I was struck by her graceful, refined movements. Not difficult to understand.

Sorry for the late reply to a three year old message but what a shame the plaque has gone! I can understand visitors not being allowed in as I believe it's a school now so allowing strangers in would certainly be a safeguarding issue.
I imagine the removal of the plaque would be a means of diminishing the number of interested visitors. Unfortunately, that is part and parcel of using such a building that is part of ballet history. Seems very wrong to remove the plaque. Perhaps they could just put up a sign explaining why visitors can't be admitted. I daresay they haven't got time to deal with phone enquiries either; schools are busy places! Sad though.
