NOOOO why did you change the babies into dolls!? Now I cant kick babies around, burn babies to ashes, ETC :/ And i also lost my 107% completion that I ONLY JUST GOTTEN YESTERDAY! but 9/10 for the effort in the update.
Seriously though. You can get a complete save file by typing "giveme107" in the save import field. And if you were using the NG Player you can get your exact save file back by changing some settings in your NG account to run AKR2 using the NG Player again.
My only complaint with this update is that you made some parts of the levels a bit easier, especially the later levels where difficulty is meant to be higher. Maybe it's because I'm a bit too skilled at the game, but it just feels wrong to me, no offense. That aside, every other change blew my mind (especially the backgrounds). You always make every update feel like the game has somehow been improved 10 times.
I wanted to even out the difficulty curve, because I initially made it too hard at the end to try and make up for the levels I had to cut. I tried to only make it easier in parts where the difficulty felt unfair before. Cheap deaths and things that required memorising the levels. There's also the weird situation that this was a lot of people's first Mario game. And might be more people's first in the future. So I wanted to make it a slightly easier, more beginner friendly experience. I initially designed it with people who had already beaten every official Mario game in mind, but as it turns out a lot of the players didn't fall into that group. If you're still looking for a challenge, there's always Boss Rush. And speedrun/challenge mode is coming.
It's so surprising how far this game has gotten and how it's still alive, can't wait for this update to go live! Now I have a question: Is the max completion still going to be 107%?
this might not be added but i have a request: there should be an option to make it that shy guy has the mask without any powerups and when he picks up a mushroom, he turns into a bandit. it just makes sense
My singular criticism is (any if I'm wrong feel free to correct me) is that if you don't free the Andesite dragon in any of the four Switch Palaces you can't get the bonus anymore.
Yes you can. Once you've cleared all the Switch Palaces, you can reenter them by pressing the L + R keys. And after you beat the final boss, you can just go back in whenever you want like normal.

It's an option. I changed the default to the new ones in 2.0 to show them off, then I changed it back in 2.9 to be more in line with my original vision.
Any plans for 3.0 version, or is it a bit early to ask right now? I'd like to see a Star Road world or some form of Special World come in the future, and maybe add a new boss for that world too.
I have detailed plans for 3.0 (that's why this is only 2.9) which I'm going to lay out in a big ol' blog post soon. Not going to do any new levels though. I'm more focused on polishing the game.
