Today, September 12, our boys performed at the VMA for the first time!! And we got our first ‘moon person’ !!! They won the category for best K-pop group with the song S-Class. I encourage you to watch their live performance at the VMA, they rocked the stage!! They are the kings of live performances, they don’t need an audience for the festival, the audience will come to them themselves

The craziest part is that all 8 of them can sing, rap, and dance. Plus, they write and produce their own music. And yes, they're all gorgeous and they're funny. You won't regret getting to know them!

Welcome to the Stray Kids rabbit hole! SKZ has a discography of over 180 + tracks that they have created themselves, so they definitely have music for everyone 😊
I look forward to your future reactions and the moment you become a Stay

Thank you for reacting to Stray Kids. 😊❤ The opening verse with the trash in the street references (aka they are in a garbage truck😅) & the comment about the empty can, this is a reference to their haters. They are shiny on the outside but empty inside or empty headed. It's basically a clap back. Stray Kids produce their own music & it has a very unique sound. It's been referred to as "Noise Music" by critics and they've taken a lot of flack over the 5 years they've been a group. They've gotten a lot of hate & yet they have pushed through all that and been unapologetic in their unique style of music. They have stayed true to themselves and all 8 of the guys while incredibly talented are also humble & genuine. They were hand picked as a group by their leader Bang Chan as trainees in the JYP Agency in Soeul South Korea. In S.Korea big agencies recruit tons of young talent & they are housed trained & fed to eat sleep breath music singing rapping & dance. It's a very rigorous process & many get cut. Chan was a trainee for an incredibly long time. (7yrs) which was really hard on him. He's actually from Australia & left his home at 13 to move to Korea to pursue his dream in music. Because of his extensive trainee experience for the first time in JYPE history they entrusted the group selection & balance to the Leader Bang Chan. He formed Stray Kids (there is a survival show for their group forming if ur interested) & Chans instincts were spot on. They have put a lot of hard work & dedication into their craft. They take their work very seriously and they are as close as brothers. They have proved themselves as the 4th Gen Kpop leader & just won their first VMA for best kpop last night on the US VMA's. Their performance was fire. 🔥Their fandom name is called STAYS in case you hear that term. Similar to the way Black Pink fans are called Blinks. Let us know if you want song suggestions they have covered & fused almost every genre out there Hiphop, Pop, R&B, Trans, Medal, Rock, EDM, Dubstep, Latin Rythems, & most recently Anime rock & Bosa Nova. STAYS will also help you with suggestions. Their discography is MASSIVE with almost 200 tracks, 90% self produced so it can be overwhelming. Welcome to the rabbit hole. 😂❤❤❤❤

You should check out God's Menu and Topline. Stray Kids is a self-producing, 8 member group from Korea. They are Kpop. What you described is usually the way kpop groups get formed, the company usually picks the groups. In Stray Kids case, Bang Chan, the leader, was able to handpick the other members. They've debuted in 2018. And they'll be performing at the VMAs tonight. SKZ has had 3 Billboard 200 #1s with their last three albums. BTS is on hiatus b/c several members have started their military service (which is mandatory in Korea), so some of the others are doing solo work atm..

Apparently this is the song they will be performing tonight on the VMAs, so perfect timing to check them out live.
These boys are very young, some were still teenagers when they debuted in 2017. All their music is made and produced by them. 2 of the main rappers are part of the production team, the leader handpicked each member himself.

This was a good first reaction to K-pop. You kept a pretty open mind, and that's what's important for reactors.
One thing you need to understand about K-pop. It's not one thing. It's a vast array of genres put together in various ways. Every group will have different ways of blending those. Almost every song will have vocals & rap in different parts. All of them will have dancing. There are 5 generations of groups so far. And each generation of groups have different overall sounds, due to what is more popular at the time of them singing/making the music. Styles and techniques will differ, and groups will evolve with the times. Some groups will find a style & sound that works well for them, and then never change it more that small tweaks. Others will be completely different from when they first started, and continue experimenting. Some, like Stray Kids, have a large variety of sounds in both their title songs, and their B-Side tracks.
Now. I will also challenge you to listen to a few groups that I love. I'm going to put a group, a tiny bit about them, and a song that I love.
Stray Kids. (My favorite boy group. Self produced. They write their own lyrics & music, so their songs have meaning behind them. 8 members now, but were 9 when they debut.( One person left after almost two years for his own personal reasons.) They have very interesting usages of sound in their music.) I'm going to start you with a song that they made because people had been complaining that they only made "noise" music, and were "loud". The song is "Thunderous".
Ateez. (My second fave boy group. 8 members. Also mostly self produced. VERY good at dance and choreography. Have a spectacular vocalist who can belt out high notes & be steady as a rock.) I'll start you off with my fave song, even if it's not completely typical of them. It is & isn't. The song is "Halazia".
KARD. (One of the only mixed groups in K-pop. 4 members, 2 guys & 2 girls. One of the guys is from California. Have a bit of Latin flair to a lot of their songs. Definitely on the more mature end of K-pop.) I'm actually gonna throw you in the deep end with their song about the toxicity in k-pop fandom towards the Idols who the fandom "loves". The song is "Gunshot".
Dreamcatcher. (7 member girl group. They incorporate rock and horror into their music. My fave girl group. There are a few songs of theirs where they only have 6 members, but that was because their Chinese member had taken part in a survival show in China & then Covid broke out & she was trapped there for a long time.) I'm gonna start you with a song they made in collaboration with Kings Raid. It's a little slower than their normal stuff, but it's awesome. The song is "Deja Vu".
Mamamoo. (4 member girl group. They are BAD A$$ Bi*ches & set their own standards. Vocals for days. Actually, Dami (the rapper from Dreamcatcher) idolizes Moonbyul and both have deeper voices for female rappers.) I'm gonna give you their song that is actually kinda classic. The song is "Decalomanie".
Have fun with your foray into K-pop.

I agree with you, I always say that about alot of artists I listen too, VannDa, Awich, 1mil, OG Bobby etc. When I listen to what they talk about in their songs about where they came from to where they are now, they have every right to brag about it. Same with Stray Kidz to make 5mil sales is a big accomplishment. So yeah they definitely have every right to brag about it.

so kpop is more of an industry than a genre! There’s rock, hiphop, r&b, rap, pop, indie, and so much more in kpop!
There’s even instrumental bands that dont dance that fall under the kpop umberalla!
There’s a BAND (not group) in the same kpop company as stray kids “JYP entertainment” called xdinary heroes! They are a kpop rock band that are as unqiue as every group and band in JYP!
I recommend: test me, happy death day, strawberry cake, freakin’ bad

Your homegirl (most likely in South Korea.. lol.) did you a solid. SKZ have amazing music, STAY (fandom name) biggest flex is that they create this music themselves (lyrics, composition, production) and they are so chaotic and fun as people. Stray Kids are one of the best groups at performing live in any genre with their raps, dancing, singing and transitions. Their dance practice videos are worth watching afterward.. There MVs are always on point. Just let Stay know what kind of type of music you like and we can find it..

South Korean entertainment companies are also known for being fierce with copyright strikes. That's why a lot of reactors are starting a patreon as well. As far as KPop goes, you'll find a bit of something for everyone. Stray Kids is known for their versatility -- loud and brash one minute, soft and sweet the next, and super smexy the next. The only other group I've found that (for me) compares is Ateez, with their grand, rock opera vibe. The two actually collaborated with each other and another group (BTOB) during a show called Kingdom: Legendary War, and the results were amazing. You'll find that a lot of people in KPop groups are friends with people in others, so while there's competition there's also supportiveness between the groups. I hope you enjoy your dip into KPop!

just a quick tip, no hate I swear -. North and South Korea are two different countries that have been at war with each other since 1953. North Korea keeps its citizens prisoner, so unless she escaped your girlfriend is most likely from South Korea. South Korea has the fastest internet in the world and is a highly developed country, North Korea however barely has internet and only 26% of the population has access to electricity. All kpop groups are from South Korea.

You actually bave a lot of depth to you don't ya? I don't knoe why, but I'm always impressed when I come across someone like yourself, the guys that say the right things, and if you don't know something or even if an assumption or guess you make is incorrect, you seem to obviously understand that possibility. notnto mention you truly seem to be aware of what you say and have a reason for saying it. Lol My apologies, I can understand how these comments may seem quite as complimentary as i truly mean them, but i assure you, these are very important attributescehen it comes this kind of content. Not thay what i think sbout you should matter in the least, im just pointing out whatcyou think actually comes across quite intellectually and, well, with real depth. And since it is important that what you say matters, you are already one of my top favorite videos of the week on thay alone. Im just saying, you seem to be built for this and I'm intrigued to say the least. lol
Anyways, I imagine the other fans will give you plenty of information on SKZ to get you started. So for now I will just say this. Do yourself, and of course us, a big favor... and keep going with Stray Kids. I have a strong feeling that you will REALLY like them I also have a strong feeling the fandom will really like you. (One more thing, K-pop isnt a genre, its an industry. it just a mash up word that stands for Korean and Popular. As far as genres are concerned, Stray Kids are like yourself, very eclectic. They dabble in everything and cover around 50 sub-genres. With their main genre being Hip-Hop and thair main style being Rap. This is very rare in K-pop, all other groups are vocal dominate. Then again, if you stick with SKZ, you will find there's countless things about them that set them apart. All of which are the reason they are currently #1.
Also, k-pop has these nasty toxic fake fans of any and all groups who like to sometimes comment equally nasty things on reaction vids. Im just mentioning it because you are new to it and i dont wnat you think that its because of you, or that it's personal. So if you get any comments talking smack, just know that if it happens that it will probably be because you are getting popular and they don't approve. lol Anywho!...I am really hoping to see another vid from you. I really think you will find that you do indeed fit Stray Kids and that you will fit our fandom too. I hope that in time you will come to agree.

I appreciate the kind words and I will continue reacting to straykidz I was impressed with what I saw in this video, so there will definitely be more to come. As for hateful comments, I've got a pretty thick skin for it, but I pay them no mind really.
But thanks again for the kind words means alot and there will definitely be more SKZ reactions to come
