Coach Riley looks like he's gonna waste Caleb Williams' tenure at USC with a sub-standard defensive coordinator who's been exposed as the program's weak link. I just wonder if this was a potential trap game for USC seeing as they go to Norte Dame next week. They pulled out the win but their ranking keeps suffering from all these poor performances.
Or, from another viewpoint, USC is now charged while Notre Dame is dejected, knowing their playoff chances are pretty much over. But that game could be their national championship game, so USC better get their defense corrected, or it could be a problem for them. I see that game being close; it will probably come down to the final play. But I will also say that the mettle that is tested makes for a tougher team.
The best Arizona team I’ve seen in a long time maybe ever. There is no reason why this team doesn’t have a great year going forward. USC dodged a bullet this time, but needs to shake things up big time if they want to be there at the end.
Noah Fifita was amazing. Redshirt freshman and only his second game after last week against Washington. The interception was bad but the rest was really good for such a young player. He's an exciting player to wach. I think he can make some noise in College Football the next few years.
Decades ago when Miami was on a roll, Sports Illustrated did an article on their success based on interviews with persons at the school. I'll summarize it. 1. Coaching. Hire a proven winner. It's not time for learning on the job. 2. Offense. Recruit the best quarterback you can find. 3. Recruiting. Recruit speed. The guy who's a bit smaller but a half step faster is preferred. 4. Stress Defense. You should be able to win most of your games scoring 17 points. Apparently, USC isn't hip to point 4.
Arizona should have gone for two when they scored second in overtime. They had the momentum, and that would have ended it right there, instead of playing the long game, which _usually_ benefits the home team. The philosophy is usually that you go for the win on the road and play for the tie if you're home.
I feel so bad for AZ. They nearly beat Washington, and now this! I really hope they can beat Wazzu and Oregon St, I know they can. Fifita looked good, but ofnse needs to keep the rythm going, and dfnse need to stay alert.

Well, I haven't watched US all year, just these highlights. Caleb, didn't see any plays demonstrating NFL skill, just wide open receivers and running, which will get you injured in the NFL. Their team overall sucks. That Wildcat Coleman is a beast.

Agree USC’s defense is not up to par, but did you guys watch the game? USC got in to trouble because the offense couldn’t get going. Credit to Arizona. But I have to scrutinize the play calling. When they’re dropping back 7 defenders in coverage you have got to run the ball. I don’t know why it took that genius Lincoln Riley until the fifth offensive possession to realize that. USC should’ve been pounding Marshawn Lloyd against that look. The defense (and Arizona’s freshman quarterback) let us back in to the game with that terrible out route interception. My other question is what happened to USC’s offensive line? That was a hyped unit coming in to the season and in both this game and the Arizona state game they were incredibly underwhelming against inferior competition. Need to fix that or the goons in these comments are right. I don’t think USC is a playoff team.

People ripping USC but not giving AZ any credit. Lost in OT @Miss state when their QB threw 4 picks. Lost by 7 to Washington and lost in 2 OT to USC here. Arizona is a couple plays from being 5-1 or 6-0. Best 3-3 team in the Nation easily.

I just wonder if this was a potential trap game for USC seeing as they go to Norte Dame next week. They pulled out the win but their ranking keeps suffering from all these poor performances.
Or, from another viewpoint, USC is now charged while Notre Dame is dejected, knowing their playoff chances are pretty much over. But that game could be their national championship game, so USC better get their defense corrected, or it could be a problem for them.
I see that game being close; it will probably come down to the final play. But I will also say that the mettle that is tested makes for a tougher team.

The best Arizona team I’ve seen in a long time maybe ever. There is no reason why this team doesn’t have a great year going forward. USC dodged a bullet this time, but needs to shake things up big time if they want to be there at the end.

Noah Fifita was amazing. Redshirt freshman and only his second game after last week against Washington. The interception was bad but the rest was really good for such a young player. He's an exciting player to wach. I think he can make some noise in College Football the next few years.

Decades ago when Miami was on a roll, Sports Illustrated did an article on their success based on interviews with persons at the school. I'll summarize it. 1. Coaching. Hire a proven winner. It's not time for learning on the job. 2. Offense. Recruit the best quarterback you can find. 3. Recruiting. Recruit speed. The guy who's a bit smaller but a half step faster is preferred. 4. Stress Defense. You should be able to win most of your games scoring 17 points. Apparently, USC isn't hip to point 4.

Arizona should have gone for two when they scored second in overtime. They had the momentum, and that would have ended it right there, instead of playing the long game, which _usually_ benefits the home team.
The philosophy is usually that you go for the win on the road and play for the tie if you're home.

Well, I haven't watched US all year, just these highlights. Caleb, didn't see any plays demonstrating NFL skill, just wide open receivers and running, which will get you injured in the NFL. Their team overall sucks. That Wildcat Coleman is a beast.

Agree USC’s defense is not up to par, but did you guys watch the game? USC got in to trouble because the offense couldn’t get going. Credit to Arizona. But I have to scrutinize the play calling. When they’re dropping back 7 defenders in coverage you have got to run the ball. I don’t know why it took that genius Lincoln Riley until the fifth offensive possession to realize that. USC should’ve been pounding Marshawn Lloyd against that look. The defense (and Arizona’s freshman quarterback) let us back in to the game with that terrible out route interception. My other question is what happened to USC’s offensive line? That was a hyped unit coming in to the season and in both this game and the Arizona state game they were incredibly underwhelming against inferior competition. Need to fix that or the goons in these comments are right. I don’t think USC is a playoff team.
