"What goes up, must come down"
Well he's not wrong . . .
Still holds up as one of the best advertising campaigns of all time.
Too bad their financial department wasn't nearly as good as their marketing department.
this is good marketing for you? I want to hit this guy (voice) in the face
@@First.Last.99 Thank you so much for responding to this comment. I can't even remember what I was doing 9 years ago other than getting drunk. This made me laugh.
@@TairyHesticles hope u think better about marketing now. 10y older? huh, time flies
@@First.Last.99 Yeah, I rewatched this...it's garbage. Time sure does fly. I can't wait for someone else to comment on this 9 more years from now.
@@TairyHesticles let the time goes slow :) enjoy life and stay positive
Michael Ian Black actually puts effort into these performances, that's what makes them funny.
I finally found it, I been looking for these commercials! My son and I use to love watching them. We would always says "there's enough food to eat a lion"! hahahaha.... We loved the sock pup puppet! Great, memories! Xoxox
That's "...to feed a lion" haha... I loved these too and I got to watch and describe them at my my job.
What goes up must come down, the dog was a prophet 🤣🤣
GME brought me here. I like your shorts
To the moon we go
I LIKE YOUR SHORTS
"Look, I'm a professional happy puppet thing."
These are still so brilliant even today. It's a shame the business model didn't work out.
Robert Smigel stayed suing these folks because he thought they were ripping off Triumph, the Insult Comic Dog.
And now Chewy makes bank years late. They were ahead of their time.
@@StreetHierarchy triumph got arrested. Strange world.
@@NoName-to5xl Yea for doing the exact same thing that 1/6 protestors got arrested for and are spending 24 hours a day solitary with no legal representation allowed. But of course he was working for Colbert and shilling for Democrats so they dropped all the trespassing charges. Go figure.
They are not selling the product anywhere .. advertising agency worked to get a name in the market they didn’t sell the brand
BLESS YOU RYAN COHEN
GME about to moon
Recognize Barney Martin, aka Morty Seinfeld, Jerry's Dad, as the doorman? For the longest time, I thought the "bribe" ad ("I'll give you thr--FOUR dollars" "Keep talkin', I'm listenin'." ) was one of the most hysterical ads on TV! The whole run was brilliant.
I like your shorts GME BBY
I miss the turn of the century, 2000.
I have that sock puppet got it my last day of chemo from my doctors.
HE'S GOT A THING, A STUFFED THING. I LOVE STUFF THINGS.
Thanks for that, Mr. Al Roker.
My favorite commercials ever... His collar was a watch🤣🤣
I LIKE YOUR SHORTS hahahah
Many people don't know that the voice of the dog puppet was Michael Ian Black or Ian Michael Black, actor comedian known for lots of cool stuff including the awesomeness that was The State.
Three dollars...
What did you say?
..fo..four dollars!

"... purely in an advisory role..." I remember these ads from when I visited the US for Thanksgiving in 2000. Had a great time and wish I'd bought the puppet!
i was 0 when this company went defunct, but watching the first ad, i immediately remembered all the dialogue for the ad especially the "Try to get it try to get it try to get the burger" i guess my earliest memory i can recall is hearing this ad. i dont remember watching it, but i knew all the dialogue lmao.
I like your shorts 🦍🙌💎
Don't quit your day job!! Hahaha, oh the irony!
Ryan Cohen is a low key GENIUS. 🚀
i just got this sock puppet as a gift for christmas this year and i had no idea where he was from until now.
what goes up, must come down; how ironic lol
There was a period of economic prosperity in the late 90's due to low interest rates. People had so much spare cash that investing money in the stock market became the thing that everyone did, and investments were typically in companies that seemed to be growing fast, with high profits projected in the future. Those companies were mostly .com companies that were growing rapidly through the typical scheme of selling their products cheap to gain brand awareness, before increasing prices.
And now we are in 2020 and history repeats itself.
Here because Ryan Cohen
Man if only they held out a few more years, they'd be huge now. Too bad they burned through all their money on trying to grow their business fast with expensive ads instead of slow and steady.
Electronic Post Agree. They had poor management judgement too. We ended up educating ours when we could. He was a real bonehead. Had no clue how to run things. Never understood why he was hired.
I LOVE THIS SOCK PUPPET!!! My nephews gave one to me for Christmas one year. He should clearly have his own show!!
Englishman who's just seen this ad being discussed on the BBC 🤣 HILARIOUS, LOVE IT ❤️
ryan cohen just tweeted a screenshot of probably this specific youtube video... prepare for views nutsgum...
These commercials and mascot was so popular back then. Man I remember kids at school quoting him, so sad by the time I got internet most of these dot com sites defunct.
omg i loved those commercials!!!
*tear tear* good times
The absolute genius that made these needed to be absolutely famous and the one that gets me dead laughing is this “I came to play with the tabbby cat and ill give you three dollars no foouur dollars”
I thought these were hysterical then and I still do now! (The Horror!) ha ha ha
I've never seen these commercials before but my dog thoroughly enjoyed them
TO THE MOON
We like the shorts. And the stock.
Yes would have been a great stock to short
PAPA COHEN HOLD ME WE GOIN TO THE MOON
One of my shotest employments ever, but enjoyed it very much. Management was a joke, but the job itself was fun and high tech for that time. Starting pay for that time wasn't too bad either. $15hr. Too bad they didn't take their time thinking this business out more. We often ran out of popular products. Pets stayed busy until the end. We recived alot of positive feedback from customers. In the Union City office. Not sure about the SF office. Thanks for posting. I miss silly commercials. These way too repetitive singing/dancing in the streets Broadway style birth control commercials we have now, have me hitting mute at the speed of light LoL
Dude thanks for posting this!!!!!! These commercials were the best.
How many people are here after RCs tweet?
HOLD!!
I like the stock
If this company was better financially this freakin’ dog puppet would be as popular as the GEICO gecko or AT&T’s Lily by now.
"Just hit the buzzer, Andy!"
Never knew how much i missed these so much. The music the styles the ppl that are now gone Where's the time machine at!
Really like the shorts! Loved how those cats hit the jackpot. Good for them
i miss that puppet dog commercial :)
I think I love you! I am so excited someone has these up. I loved these commercials so much that I bought the talking puppet when I found it at Toys 'R' Us or somewhere like that. I still have it. And, no, I wouldn't part with for anything less than an obscene amount of money, so forget it.
My favorite was always the Christmas ad, but happy puppet thing and I'm here to play with the tabby cat rank right up there!
Oh wow, I had no idea he was in the Thanksgiving Parade! How appropriate for today! These make me laugh every every every time..."Come on...I see the delivery for the Parakeet"..."I'll give you threee dolllaaars"
I loved these commercials when they were airing
Best Wishes and the best of luck on all your latest videos and new projects from all the puppets of Thatch Close :)
The dogs in this video are gone ):
So's the company.
"What goes up.... must come down"
20 years ago. All the dogs in these ads are long dead. 😔
🚀 🚀 🚀
Thanks for keeping this up.
0:43 Brilliant how Pets.com used a visual metaphor to warn us about the $GME saga; most did not hear but one Roaring Kitty heeded the message.
0:45 He's got a stuffed thing! I love stuffed things!
What goes up, must come down.
Foreshadowing at its finest…and scariest.
that's Michael Ian Black from MTV's The State (and from a lot of other stuff I'm sure) providing the voice of the Pets.com puppet
I like your shorts 🥰
Brilliant! 🤣 Michael Ian Black from The State should have had his own show ☺️❤️ *commercials were not this good.. ONLY this legendary dog got his own Macy’s day float!
Michael Ian Black is hilarious for sure, he completely ruled vh1’s I Love the 80’s & 90’s series🏆
What goes up must come down. Yep. They sure were right.
Chewy should try to acquire the rights to the puppet.
Awesome commercials... they are perfect
Thanks, I was always curious about this
Try to get it! Try to get it! Try to get the burger!
I have the 2000 puppet from holidays.
Loved these commercials, lol.
AWWWW! ! miss those commercials!
The sad thing is that
*a l l t h o s e p e t s a r e g o n e*
Marketing was ahead of their time
ITS MICHEAL IAN BLACK!
These commercials brought me back.
I am from the UK and I think these commercials are brilliant!
Haha I miss these comms. So good. So cute.
"What goes up, must come down.." freakily prophetic.
damn, i just watched those commercials for the first time, and i LOVE them! they are hilarious :) i can only imagine the whole buzz around this socket dog and pets dot com, cause it didn't leak to Poland back then ;) too bad.
And back then, when the internet was relatively new and exciting, internet-based companies were hard to value, resulting in dot-com company stock prices skyrocketing. In late 1999, the federal reserve increased interest rates again and again, then people started losing their confidence in the projected profits of dot-com companies, and started selling stocks, causing the stock prices to plummet.
rich8642 I wish they would raise interest rates now.
I only know that puppet through the 1-800 Bar None commercial.
I never lived in the us. So never saw these but they are great!
naughty puppet (licking scene)
I hope they're home! *BANG BANG BANG!* XD
I missed the 1990 parade because I had to work. I hope that more footage of 1990 can be posted. Thanks for posting this.
The horror!
Oh man I miss those ads.
I can't believe I remembered this
He was funny asf 😂😂
1999 is back baby!
LOL !!! I miss these.
A real failure in advertising. The dog did well for selling the dog, however, it did nothing for overall revenue. All though this was one of the first internet sensations the company later went down because this was not positioned well and did nothing to build brand recognition and boost sales; instead it gave the poor sock puppet its fifteen minutes of fame.
Oh, man, I miss that one commercial: "DON'T GIVE UP! DON'T GIVE UP!" :D
How could they do this to socks?
Oh no...
T H E H O R R O R
TIL that Michael Ian Black was the voice and hand behind the Pets.com dog.
“I like your shorts” 😂😂😂
doesnt seem like its been 18 years since this commercial was on tv... rememeber that first one like it was on just the other day. crazy
I remember liking these ads at the time. Not sure why.
