A dark-haired woman (Laura Elena Harring) is left amnesiac after a car crash. She wanders the streets of Los Angeles in a daze before taking refuge in an apartment. There she is discovered by Betty (Naomi Watts), a wholesome Midwestern blonde who has come to the City of Angels seeking fame as an actress. Together, the two attempt to solve the mystery of Rita's true identity. The story is set in a dream-like Los Angeles, spoilt neither by traffic jams nor smog.
Now I'm sad I never saw Mulholland Drive in the theater. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for a screening!
Gotta admit this was the first celebrity death that really touched me. Spent this last weekend, similar to you it sounds, diving into works of his. Listened to a couple soundtracks, interviews, watched one of his movies, watched some of his TH-cam channel.
Mulholland Dr was my intro into his work. Really loved that film & needed to see more after. At this point, barring a few short films, and The Straight Story, I've seen all of his movies and shows.

The Elephant man is my favourite Lynch film and I have fond memories of collecting the Panini stickers for the Film Dune when at middle school.
I was enthralled by Twin Peaks..... And confused.

Lynch had a strong presence in my formative years.
I'm going to go watch the straight story.
