Sorry to hear this. Mine went the same, back in '78. I was 20, and he left me so lost. I was lost. Six yrs later, I gave my heart to Jesus and learned daddy was 'ready' to go 'Home'. About 25 yrs later, mama went 'Home' the same way. Slowly, painfully with cancer, but this time it was so different. She knew Him, and so did I. We talked and prayed and sang together! I was with her, as I had been with daddy, but this time Jesus was with me. Mama had so much peace and assurance. I was enveloped with a peace and a strength that night I never knew could exist in that way. Through much crying.... I could not stop smiling, and then laughing! All I can say is, He met us with all we needed to get through it. What a surprise. Right now I'm praying for you and yours that His strength and peace will meet you where you are. Lord bless ya, He will see you through this. It's not over yet. ✌😎

I'm 34, just lost my mom last week at the age of 60. Very long story, but she came in and out of my life for small moments of my life, almost like an angel. She was a broken old soul.. I went through her things with my siblings.. it was all pictures and writings from us kids, with stacks of poems she'd write to herself about being broken. This was one of her favorite and last songs she listened to.. I love you mom.. I didn't know how broken you really were..

I met a lady today by the name of Cindy, a beautiful butterfly and she was homeless and her and I got to talking and sharing the love of Christ. There was something so divine about her. I could have talked with her for hours. You could tell she had been through a lot in her life, but her love for Jesus was such a blessing to me. And I hope that one day she gets to read this message, thank you Ms. Cindy for blessing me in the parking lot in Raleigh, NC! Ms. Cindy loved this song that she shared this song with me and wanted to make sure I played, and I did as soon as I got in the car. I played it about 4 times. Ms. Cindy I will always keep you in my prayers. I wanted you to know that every time I play this song, I will always think of your beautiful smile and beautiful spirit! A few days after my 24 year old son died in a car accident, I had a meltdown and was screaming "Why" - I walked over to the radio, pressed the power button and Chris Stapleton was singing "Don't go looking for the answers, don't be asking Jesus why" I guess that was my sign. My son was always playing new country music videos for me. Miss you my baby!

To all the people reading this comment that have lost a loved one, just know my heart goes out to you. We here in the South are unified in the solemn and unspoken brotherhood honoring their legacy and their truth. I think often on these things around the campfire with moonshine in hand listening to songs just like this. We don't ever get explanations for why loved ones, friends and family, are taken from us before their time. Just remember this, never take life for granted. Live every single day like it's your last, at work, at home, out in the field or in the house at the dinner table. You are cherished by someone, and your life is a priceless and irreplaceable commodity. Be kind, be true, and lend a hand to those who need it. Life is too short to not savor every second. I'm 14 and last week my best friend who was also my age just died of cancer, he was fighting in a lot of pain for a long time, and the chemo just wasn't working, so he went into hospice and passed a few days later. This song was played at his funeral right when I was saying my last goodbyes. Chris Stapleton has always been my dad's favorite, but now I think I'm starting to like him too.

Sorry for your loss. I've always found that once a musician kicks me in the feels they forever have my support. Chris has kicked me in the feels more times than I can count. Too much soul to not feel it deep down

My brother in law just sent me this.. my daughter passed away the 5 year death anniversary of my sister... 11/13.. She had a major asthma attack.. She was resuscitated and admitted to ICU for a week until declared deceased from brain death on 11/21... she was only 16 years old.. this song hits my heart.. I've never heard it before until now...

I found this song less than a week ago. The song's message alone was enough to bring me to tears, but I didn't have a personal experience to attach it to. Then, just yesterday, a friend of mine passed away in a car accident. He was the kindest, most gentle person I have ever met. He was only 23 years old. Now this song is helping me come to terms with him no longer being here, and I can't help but imagine that finding this song so close to his passing was for a reason, but it all belongs to the by and by after all. RIP Ashton Farley, I just hope you know how much you were loved and still are. Your early passing has made it easier to come to terms with my own eventual death as now I can look forward to seeing you again my friend.

I'm putting this for my son who passed away Oct 9, 2021. I have been listening to Chris since he was with Steeldrivers but my son, never listened to country except for Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Jr. One day my phone rung with the ringtone Broken Halos, Niko heard it. He told me he really liked the song and wanted to hear the whole song. That was June, 2021, then in Oct he was gone. Now when I listen to the song, I think there are SO MANY things Niko and I shared that's what made us so complete that really the relationship we had was "so close we couldn't slide a piece of paper between us". Thanks Chris for making a memory for us and thanks for ALL the beautiful songs you have created for everyone to enjoy. Chris wanted to say that yesterday I read the lyrics to Broken Halos. Remember I told you earlier that my son in June of last year heard that song and he really liked it a lot then he passed away in October. Well as I read the lyrics I was thinking about what I heard one time I have heard of it being said that people who are going to pass away they pick up on certain things or hear certain things in this case lyrics that most don't hear. So what I'm trying to say is he heard something in that song that was calling him that's in my opinion. Because at one time it's true when you say Broken Halos that used to shine and Angels come down from the heavens to help us on our way.

And why I'm still alive today is because of a man named Bob Wieland a Vietnam Veteran. He saw both his legs fly away in front of him and his rifle between them They zipped him up in a body bag. He only had one breath left and he cried out. They unzipped the bag. Years later he walked across America on his hands. He said why would a person want to kill themselves when you are going to die ,ANYWAY. That's why am still here today.

My friend and I were thick as thieves. We were best friends since we were in grade school. We did everything together and he was truly my brother from another mother. After high school, we went our seperate ways and contact each other here and there. I truly never knew he was battling addiction until it was too late. When his mom told me about his passing (now 4 years), the first song that came on was this one. And everytime I think about him this song comes on. We were suppose to live by each other and our kids would date and hopefully marry. Haha. This song was his way of saying he is good and at peace but alwats reminding me that he is never far. I pray for all those battling addiction. 🙏🏽

So fast she went from having back pain and getting some tests and 2 weeks later on hospice care came home monday july 5th to live out her last days. And Tuesday july 6th 11:45pm 2021

He told me this saying when I was 10 and I was very mischievous and disrespectful to my dad and mom. I loved my Grandpa so much. I now know what he meant by “ to walk in this world.”

The song resonated with my late husband. He did not know he did not have long to live. He said it made the hair on his arms stand up and always brought a tear to his eye. I do hope I get to see Mr and Mrs Stapleton live in concert before or if I go suddenly as my Chris did. Close enough to come to Nashville I'm in southern Indiana. So since 2018 when my Chris could not hear this album enough I learned all songs by heart with him. Then one day he was suddenly gone. God bless you guys!

I sang this too my mom in her last breaths standing outside an ICU window because covid wouldn't let me in the hospital I watch as she fought, Jesus saved her but not in the way I wanted. She went to be with Jesus on November 29th 2020. A teacher of 28 plus years never got a chance to retire a beloved teacher by all the children she taught and the ones she was still teaching. She always said she didn't have 3 children she had hundreds. She would give the shirt off her back if you were without her last penny If she had half of her food if you were hungry a single mom that fought day and night for a better life. I can't tell you what this song means too me. She was literally a angel on earth her to teach us and then in a blink of an eye gone I try my hardest to not question it since I gave it all too Jesus but its a day to day battle. 26 years with an angel like her is too short.
