    I use Mac pigment "Naked" on my eyes everyday. It lasts me about a year so it is worth the price as long as you don't spill them. They open up completely and therefore are easy to knock over and lose product!!

    I think the best loose eye shadows and pigments comes from Indie make up brands. They will always have colours that you've never seen before and will always be top quality products.

    I absolutely agree with you about the price issue -- Makeup is such a high markup anyway, so, I'm sure the 3g of size difference made barely any difference in the cost to produce.

    Great review and explanation of the MAC and MUFE pigments, but what about the La Femme Pigments? Yes, the color range is limited but you get 4g of product for only $4. As well as the Cinema Secrets pigments which are only $6.
    BTW, both the La Femme & Cinema Secrets pigments are sold at Makeup Mania - just thought you may want to know. Thanks again.
    Blessings.

    my 2 cents worth: i bought my first (and only) pigment a while back. it's the MAC 'brash & bold' (bright fuschia). i use it only for giving highlights to my hair (giving it a pop of colour occasionally). i agree with wayne that the pigment can be little gritty and clumpy. but hey, i was using it for my hair, so obviously for value for money i choose MAC. it really depends on where you're applying the pigment on.
    good review as always :)

    Totally agree on the price. Christine at Temptalia did a really good comparison when they reduced their size. Even though you still get a ton of product, I do think it was wrong of them to not reduce the price...I'm also afraid they are going to move away from the regular-size pans and move more towards the larger pans at almost $20 a pop...

    Sometimes I prefer to pay 11 pounds, even though I get less product proportionally, for the MUFE pigment. personally Í would be saving money as I will never use up as much quantity of one single colour pigment in my life. So, I would not need more product and, looking at it from this point of view, I save money even though I may buy a proportionally more expensive product. Oh, sorry, it is not easy for me to explain this, hope you understand me.

    I went to the mac store near me just before the size changed and I bought five full size (the old size) on the spot. I don't like the new size either but I'm glad I have a full collection of the larger size to fall back on. There's a mufe star powder that I want that's a light taupe but it's always sold out. Good video, loved it. Thanks. XOXO Heidi

    @1GINGERMARTINEZ a pigment is basically powdered pure color/shimmer thats extremely concentrated and smooth ... aka nothing else added into it, like in an eyeshadow... you can use it for anything but commonly, a pigment is used exactly like an eyeshadow, but you need less to achieve your desired look. however, it is also used for pro makeup (i.e. face makeup for a creature in a movie) or can be mixed with nail polish or lip gloss. you can use it wet too for an intense color!

  • @yatensh
    @yatensh 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MalenkyGoblin most TKB pigments do not contain binder .. you have to do a search .. cosmetic company's (Inglot, Illamasqa, MAC, MUFE, etc) formulate "loose eyeshadow" with binders and other ingredients so that they stick to the skin and blend better and so forth. A lot of the TKB Mica's are to be blended into formulas and not used by itself. Just ask the people at TKB. They know a lot more about their own products than Wayne would.

    @kragey Compared to most dept. store cosmetics companies, MAC pigments are very generously priced/ratio even with the smaller packaging. Just do some research. Yes it sucks they give you more for less. But you are already getting a deal compared to other "brands."

    I noticed MAC reduced the size of their other products too, the Prep + Prime powder went from 9 g to 8 g, matte gel from 0.84 oz to 0.75. I know 'cos I saw the size on the MAC website but the ones I got in a department store were still the old sizes.

    I used to be a total pigment junkie, but now that I'm not working as a makeup artist and it is just for my use there is no way I will ever finish them. Even with the MUF pigments it takes absolutely forever to go through them, so even with less product its still doubtful that a normal user would go through them.

    I love, love, love pigments. MAC, Becca, Scott Barnes, NP, MUFE and Sugarpill all great.... Also an interesting thing I notice years ago...all MAC pigments before they changed the size were not 7.5g. I have a ton and they range from 2.5 to 7.5 but are in the old style jars. For ex. Polish Ivory(disco'd pro color) 2.5g, Brash & Bold(LE) 4.3g, and Aire-De-Blu(LE) 7.5g. I was also told people said they would not use the full jar so that is why it was changed. mmm

    Said it before, I'll say it again. MAC was ruined the day that Estee Lauder bought it. Their make up is still good, but Estee Lauder is all about the money. I could not believe that MAC think consumers will buy their product at any cost and they arrogantly maintained the price while significantly decreasing the product size!
    MAC products are mostly ok but if MAC was to disappear tomorrow, would they truly be missed? Of course not, there are a host of other cosmetic companies that make comparable and often superior products.
    MAC = Mostly Average Cosmetics
