    Love your outlook on the channel. Less fluff, more meat. More content about what is actually in the book and less about everything but the book itself. Do what makes you happy, not what will get the most views.

    So glad to see you will be reading "I, Claudius". Hope you'll like it and continue to the 2nd book, "Claudius the god", and don't forget (after you read both), to check the BBC adaptation from the 70th! If you enjoy reading about the Roman empire there is a very well regarded series, about Caesar, by the Australian author Colleen McCullough (starting with "First man in Rome") that you might want to check.

    • @RedFuryBooks
      @RedFuryBooks  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I actually didn’t know there was a sequel. If I like the first I’m sure I’ll read the second. I had First Man in Rome on the TBR for a long time so many this will cause me to move it up!

    I'm glad i found your channel this year. I've discovered that I prefer to watch booktubers closer to my own age, rather than the 20 year old kids. I have a 20 year old son. Lol. I also like how you read genres other than sci-fi and fantasy. Those are my favorites, but i like other things too. Also, I'm kinda glad you're getting rid of book hauls. It's weird how much people like those. But anyway, you have a great channel, and I look forward to another year of your content

    What fantastic reading plans! Your channel plans sound very sensible. I'll look forward to your reaction to The Forgetting Moon: that series really is the series I've been waiting to read since A Song of Ice & Fire. And DragonLance! That really takes me back! Kudos for continuing with Dresden Files: it's one of my favorite series, and I've found the payoff is tremendous.

    That is a fun list of reads you have lined up there. I'm really looking forward to hear your opinions about the books.
    I have read the first Five Warrior Angels book and really enjoyed it.
    I also had a small fistbumb moment, when you mentioned Kender, Gully-Dwarves and Gnomes. The Dragonlance books were my first introduction to fantasy. As I'm a native German, they were also a huge reason for my sixteen-year-old self to improve my English, as only a small portion of the books had been translated back then. This was also way before Amazaon, so I needed to travel to rpg and gaming conventions always in the hope that some British booksellers would show up and I could search their stands for missing books in my Dragonlance paperback collection. I still have over 70 of them today.
    As far as your channel goals go, it's always the best advice to go with what you love doing. I can really relate to what you've said about these longterm payoff videos. I'm just returning from a 6 year hiatus on booktube and my channel was active for 4 years or so during the mid-tens. And over the six inactive years, every couple of months I got random comments on some of my videos and these were always the more guide or discussion types of videos. So I can only recommend that.
    I'm really looking forward to your content in 2024. Have an amazing reading year!

    • @RedFuryBooks
      @RedFuryBooks  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad to meet another DragonLance fan! That's really cool how it was an early foray into helping you improve your English. I read these at about the same age originally. And thanks for the channel tips - I'm excited to see where a slightly new direction takes things. Cheers!

    Have a great trip to Japan! Can highly recommend the 70s BBC Adaptation of «I, Claudius!
    Currently I am reading «Bold Ascension» (sequel to «The Severing Son») by Vaughn Roycroft (Fantasy inspired by the Migration Period Goths)
    My January TBR:
    «Imperium» by Robert Harris (Historical Fiction about the Roman Politician Cicero)
    «Stonehenge» by Bernard Cornwell (Historical Fiction about the Creation of Stonehenge during the Late Neolithic Period)
    «The Buried Giant» by Kazuo Ishigaro (Fantasy inspired by Arthurian Legend)
    «After Rome» by Morgan Llywelyn (Historical Fiction set in Post-Roman Britain)
    «The Dragon Lord» by David Drake (Arthurian Sword & Sorcery)
    My February TBR:
    «Når landet mørknar» (Approximately «When The Land Darkens») by Tore Kvæven (Historical Fiction set during the 13th Century Norse Settlement of Greenland, winner of the Norwegian Brage Prize for Best Norwegian Novel in 2018)
    «The Last Light of the Sun» by Guy Gavriel Kay (Fantasy inspired by the Viking Great Heathen Army and King Alfred the Good)
    «Egil Skallagrimsson» by Halvor Tjønn (Historical Fiction about the (in-)famous 10th Century Icelandic Viking Skald who became a Bloodsworn Enemy of the Norwegian Viking King Eirik Bloodaxe)
    «Alv Erlingsson» by Tore Skeie (Historical Fiction about a Real Life Norwegian 13th Century Jarl who became a Privateer and Rebel)
    I have not planned March too much, but on my Spring TBR I have:
    «Judas Blossom» by Stephen Aryan (Fantasy inspired by the Mongol Conquest of Persia)
    The «City of Victory» Trilogy by Adrian Goldsworthy (Historical Military Fiction set during Emperor Trajan’s Campaigns)
    «Ash: A Secret History» by Mary Gentle (Alt-Historical Military Fiction inspired by the Mercenary Wars of the Renaissance)
    «The Wise Man’s Fear» by Patrick Rothfuss (Fantasy, sequel to «Name of the Wind»)
    The «Lyonesse» Trilogy by Jack Vance ((Pre-)Arthurian Fantasy)
