I have a question about skills, while having a secondary trait, will you be able to use all 3 skills from both classes or do you have to sselect 3 of the 6 skills?

I hope they’ll be some unique melee weapons with some unique move sets. I enjoyed the scythes strong spinning attack in the old game. It did get boring after a while though.
Personally what I’m going to do is Hunter-challenger. I’ll use Hunter and the shroud ability, then I’ll use the challengers ground stomp ability to kill enemies will cloaked
Definitely going to go Gunslinger to start, then Hunter when I have subarchetype slot unlocked. The synergy seems too amazing to pass up, and it'd play exactly like how I played in Remnant 1
I mained Hunter in the first game. Giving me another class with "all the ammo ever" is a great way to ensure I can snipe at long range and blow baddies away up close.
I was gonna go for gunslinger+hunter, but after seeing this, it's obvious that the prime perk of the hunter has more value than the gunslinger's for DPS. Gonna go for Hunter+gunslinger for sure
@simonm7590 gunslinger skills making everything auto and constant ammo seemed nice and medic to keep me alive but after watching and seeing the hunter he looks cooler and starts with a machette so that's the starting class medic is second. I just hope I'm not always by myself you're the only one to respond to any of my posts. If your on ps5 send your gamertag and I'll add you.
I plan on medic and didn't know you could dual class. I think a medic/challenger would be a major tanking beast. Healing, plus bulwark, damage bonuses, increased movement speed, and encumbrance reduction. Basically a healing class that can tank without any the drawbacks of being the typical tank. You can basically drop wellspring healing on the ground as you stand there and tank/melee/etc a bunch of enemies or a boss, etc.
I can immediately tell that ironically the hunter's increased gun range is going to be greatest felt with shotguns. Might even make a good mix with challenger because of that and the ambush skill would pair nicely with any melee challenger.
While Im going Challenger/Medic for a more support Paladin type of build, I also thought this as well, can totally see a heavily armored freaking ninja in future builds.
I was going to go with gunslinger first then level up challenger for a die hard mercenary, because f*#k enemies in my personal space, but I think I’ll now go Hunter first then challenger then gunslinger to keep my die hard merc capable @ mid range. That AS-12 bulldog looks NARSTY. Edit: you have to max out an Archetype to get their trait available in on any class, albeit, you have to spend points if it’s not a slotted Archetype.

Hunter was my favorite in the original game.. I played mostly solo then went all out with the multiplayer so I'm thinking Ima use the Handler class for the dog and then combine with marksmen for that damage and support ..
Choices choices. I think it will depend on my two friends. One loves being in the thick of things and kinda disliked Remnant 1 not really letting him go melee and shotgun, so I'm PRETTY sure Challenger is instantly going to be his pick. He went with Scrapper in the first game and liked it but was annoyed until we eventually got Leto's gear, then he had a ball flopping things to death. Me and the other (his wife) both like support, she more than I do. So I suspect she's going to go for either the Medic or the Handler. She always plays healers in MMOs and stuff, too. I'll probably go with whichever of the two she doesn't. In the first game, she played the Cultist and used that healing circle ability a ton. I'm kind of a jack of all trades that will do what needs to get done, and I prefer more ranged combat GENERALLY, though mid or far both work and I'm not afraid of getting in close if I have the right weapons for the task. So if she goes Medic, I will hands down go Handler since it seems like a really good for both me solo playing (they tend to play together when I can get on, I play some alone and have a bit more free time) as well as me playing with them, probably with a lot of Support Dog. Of course, if she likes the cute doggo (and who wouldn't?), I'll gladly go Medic and probably pick up Gunslinger/Hunter as my secondary for picking off things when I don't need to run in and heal everyone. I started with the Hunter in the first game, and while I did dabble with summons, I tended to also use the healing circle thing and either the Healer gear or Bandit gear, and still love the heck out of the Hunter Rifle. I mentioned this in a more recent video of yours on Remnant 2, but I have to say it again, I’m super happy that Remnant 2 has a firing range to use for testing dps when making builds!
I know many are hyped for Handler...But i'm so ready for Gunslinger, man! DPS classes are always my go to and i love me some Western vibes ;) But frankly all sound amazing and i'm genuinely interested in every one of them. Which is a big testament imo!
They arleady nerfed some stuff pre-release by half? Gunslinger: Instead of 100% ammo reserve its now 50% , Loaded is now 8 seconds instead of 15, nerfed sidewinder duration, nerfed bullet storm bows/crossbows crit chance 25% > 15% Medic: changed revive cooldown of redemption Challenger: nerfed DIE HARD invincible duration, nerfed Rampage duration + damage per stack and increased cooldown by alot it seems. Handler: Changed bonded from dragon heart to relic charge. Not sure whether this is a good or bad change Hunter: Found no changes at all Not sure to what they changed about perks since the trailers didnt show all perks of all classes. That certainly leaves a bad taste I hope they wont stealth nerf stuff in this game like they did in remnant 1.
Dont worry it still feels perfectly fine. The team does an absurd amount of testing with legitimately cracked players. They've got data for their data lol.
@@Ochsenfrosch The handler is so versatile dont think you can go wrong with either. Gunslinger is so DPS heavy with guns so the doge can cover support with healing or tanking. Or you can just say screw it and both go ham and have him be an attack dog lol.
I started with Challenger because I wanted to tank, immediately regretted my decision because it's not tanky enough to compensate for the slow movement and problematic melee opponents. Restarted with Handler, and been enjoying it much more (only 2 hours in rn).
Same is happening with me. Taking to much melee damage. Dodging taking too much stamina even after removing helmet. Guns are not doing enough damage and i am getting ganged up. I was in Beatific Palace and i got stuck with hidden boss executioner. I had to cheese him coz i just couldn't deal any damage to him playing fair at veteran difficulty and now i am stuck at The Feast event. I cannot go past 3rd wave. I thought skill issue but now i dont know. I think i will start again with Handler or hunter
Late to the party, but it seems like the more support-oriented archetypes (healer and handler) would make for the best secondary classes, especially if you plan to play solo. Dual archetype does allow for some interesting flexibility; I can imagine people pulling off some insane DPS-oriented builds for team play. The Challenger/Healer combo sounds the most interesting to me, but it'll be interesting to try out other builds as well, see what works and what doesn't.
It seems a little rude or more of a backhanded compliment to call the Handler the "training wheels" archetype where a player can learn the ropes before they're ready to play "real Remnant". I won't say that having an extra body at all times doesn't drastically help with encounter control and the action economy, but it doesn't change that the Handler should be held up and praised as the true all-rounder it is, being arguably the single best solo archetype and the ultimate flex pick in co-op sessions. By design (commonly known as the "hybrid tax"), it cannot be allowed to outshine a specialist in its field - the Handler can never out-damage a Hunter/Gunslinger, out-tank a Challenger, or out-heal a Medic - but the fact it can do all three at once is itself a major boon; the Handler may not have the best answer for any situation, but it always has an answer for EVERY situation, and that's more valuable than people might realize. Versatility, having no outstanding weaknesses, is its own strength. “A jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one." Besides, who would hate having a dog buddy? I might be a little biased, since the Very Good Boy was one of my single favorite weapon mods from Remnant 1 and must've almost assuredly been part of the inspiration for the Handler.

I'm thinking of starting as Hunter and then getting Handler later. Hunter will define how I engage with enemies and the Handler can still work for self and team buffs. Edit: Rethinking, might start Handler to get the buffs on that leveled then grab Gunslinger to swap into the primary slot so I can use a boosted Quickdraw from Handler to combo with the damage buff from my good boi for some real burst hours.
Definitely start as handler since you can actually buy the hunter class item right away in the starting area. Who knows how hard it is to unlock handler though. That is my plan. Start Handler and then buy hunter right away.
Just from these starting classes I think Hunter/handler would be very strong and then Challenger/medic seems like a busted combo. Honestly medic or handler are probably the best secondary classes but I have not seen the other classes yet.
I play solo as well, and I run into issues in the first game with the ads that show up to help out the mini-bosses. Having the Handler option in the sequel is very appeal to me; same for being able to have a secondary archetype to add into the mix. Handler/Gunslinger or Handler/Challenger (maybe Hunter) are what I'm leaning toward at the moment.
@@SolaScientia I hope Remnant 2 works better for solo players this time around. As someone that's played with coop most of the negative comments I've seen were about the solo difficulty. Handler seems like a great choice 👍
@@SolaScientia Yeah the "make the boss harder by throwing tons of adds at you" was a real killer for me in the first game. It made solo play pretty rough. It has been said that is not true of this game so I am even more excited.
@@matthewc5828 That's my hope as well. I tried starting Remnant: From the Ashes 3 times before it clicked for me. Helped that my most recent attempt actually netted me some good stuff in the first optional dungeon (the first attempt it was just a gun and I was a bit annoyed by that). I'm in the subway after meeting Mudtooth and the ads are so damn annoying. Hell, I had major issues with Gorefist because of those damn puffballs he kept spawning in that would stunlock me to death. I died once over by the stairs and he ended up starting there when I next entered the arena. He got stuck, lmao. I could shoot him, run from the puffballs when he summoned them, and then run back to shoot him some more until he died. It was a right pain in the ass solo until he bugged out on the scenery.
its so surreal to have classes. I wanted to play a pet/support type build with occasional high damage weapon for elite type enemies. in remnant 1 and made it kinda work. now to see ACTUAL classes especially for handler is just awesome. cant decide if i wanna do the same thing or change it up now hrmmm
Handler+Challenger Started as Challenger for the gear, grabbed the SMG, fire mod, and fire ring in Ward 13, bought the Handler unlock from the vendor, switched to Handler then added Challenger as secondary. The doggo heals me and distracts enemies while I spray them with flaming bullets and buckshot.

I am 81 years old and an average to below average player in destiny 2. Is this type of game suitable for me or would I end up dying all the time? If it is suitable what character would you recommend that would keep me alive longer?
kudos to you, I hope to be like you one day! You can absolutely play this, and if youre worried about how you'll survive, just go on the survivor difficulty and run handler. You will have a companion and the class is very strong on its own! Good luck !

100% Challenger starter with medic after, at least till we see what else we can find. Paladin theme all the way baby, rush in, bust heads, protect friends, patch em up.

Flail turns regular Medic into a Cleric. Support class with LMG "I don't support the violence, I am the Violence!" Medic and Challenger classes together, as Primary and Secondary Classes, will turn you into a Paladin the One Men Party: what can be more survivable than a Tank, a Tank that can heal itself in a middle of a fight, while also killing enemies.
Thank you for this! I play these games solo and the ads in Remnant: From the Ashes are a right pain for me so early in the game (I'm at the start of the subway after meeting Mudtooth). I'd been thinking of Hunter or maybe Challenger, but I might just go with Handler. The team perks won't matter to me since I play offline. I prefer the Hunter archetype in Remmant: From the Ashes, but it seems a little less viable solo in Remnant 2. I might start as a Handler and then add Challenger or Gunslinger as my secondary.
I thought the same but to keep in mind all team perks in R2 also effect not just the team but you individually. So you can reap the benefits without being online and playing with others which I would be mostly doing. Hunter/Handler is looking like my way to go.
I've been playing a bit of it. I already have 2 different saves, but that's because I screwed up the first time and picked Hunter when I didn't mean to. I went with Handler on my 2nd save, but my first world is N'Erud and the poor doggo is useless against those flying enemies. Even though I'm playing solo and having a companion to help me out is very useful, I'm starting to think I should either go back to my first save with the Hunter archetype or start a new game and go with Gunslinger instead.
Gunslinger and hunter have a pretty big overlap on their utility I see no reason for double ammo if you can get ammo drops that give 50% ammo more of the time

They should have made Challengers Stomp skill change into a player centered AoE skill when the button is held down then released. Game is looking good though. I am wondering what other Archetypes we will find aside from Gunslinger. The "turret builder" Archetype is missing. A Necromancer type that summons Root monsters would be cool too.
I see what they did there. The Gunslinger is for people who were so addicted to Remnant 1 that they installed the 'From Hell' mod, which remade an armor set into the gunslinger set

As a dog owner, I'll definitely be playing the handler, i just wish they had different dog breeds, no offense to the German Shepherd, but it would be amazing if they had my dog, the Caucasian Shepherd, for example. Unlockable, discoverable, or during character creation.
challanger/medic or challanger/handler seems like a fun tanky turns brain off frontliner, then again handler/medic would have regen for days which could carry you too
Just got the game free through the PS store deal. Late to the party, but I did everything I had to do to get this unlocked first after starting off with my dog. Now my secondary is the Hunter archetype. Not sure I'll beat the game or anything. It's just something to play while everything is hit and miss in Helldivers II and The First Descendant.

This game is amazing i have no clue why it hasnt been talked about more... And it has REAL COOP 10/10 for me way better then any souls game ive played and i played them all yes even elden ring. But if elden ring had real coop it would have been worth playing.. This game is underrated like crazy.
I believe you have every single thing but the prime perk, so you should have the dog, you just wont have him be able to use a relic on you likely. I say that cause the secondaries can use all the abilities, and those abilities are dog behaviours, so you should have the dog.

Challenger's Rampage sounds like a must have for most classes across the board.
THe +6m optimal damage pairs extremely well with a shotgun, so close range hunter is actually really good.
I know many are hyped for Handler...But i'm so ready for Gunslinger, man! DPS classes are always my go to and i love me some Western vibes ;)
But frankly all sound amazing and i'm genuinely interested in every one of them. Which is a big testament imo!

They arleady nerfed some stuff pre-release by half?
Gunslinger: Instead of 100% ammo reserve its now 50% , Loaded is now 8 seconds instead of 15, nerfed sidewinder duration, nerfed bullet storm bows/crossbows crit chance 25% > 15%
Medic: changed revive cooldown of redemption
Challenger: nerfed DIE HARD invincible duration, nerfed Rampage duration + damage per stack and increased cooldown by alot it seems.
Handler: Changed bonded from dragon heart to relic charge. Not sure whether this is a good or bad change
Hunter: Found no changes at all
Not sure to what they changed about perks since the trailers didnt show all perks of all classes.
That certainly leaves a bad taste
I hope they wont stealth nerf stuff in this game like they did in remnant 1.
Dont worry it still feels perfectly fine. The team does an absurd amount of testing with legitimately cracked players. They've got data for their data lol.

@@Ochsenfrosch The handler is so versatile dont think you can go wrong with either. Gunslinger is so DPS heavy with guns so the doge can cover support with healing or tanking. Or you can just say screw it and both go ham and have him be an attack dog lol.

I started with Challenger because I wanted to tank, immediately regretted my decision because it's not tanky enough to compensate for the slow movement and problematic melee opponents. Restarted with Handler, and been enjoying it much more (only 2 hours in rn).
Same is happening with me. Taking to much melee damage. Dodging taking too much stamina even after removing helmet. Guns are not doing enough damage and i am getting ganged up. I was in Beatific Palace and i got stuck with hidden boss executioner. I had to cheese him coz i just couldn't deal any damage to him playing fair at veteran difficulty and now i am stuck at The Feast event. I cannot go past 3rd wave. I thought skill issue but now i dont know. I think i will start again with Handler or hunter

Late to the party, but it seems like the more support-oriented archetypes (healer and handler) would make for the best secondary classes, especially if you plan to play solo. Dual archetype does allow for some interesting flexibility; I can imagine people pulling off some insane DPS-oriented builds for team play. The Challenger/Healer combo sounds the most interesting to me, but it'll be interesting to try out other builds as well, see what works and what doesn't.
Counting down the hours. One of the rare games me and my friend are cooping. DS like COOP games are so damn fun and it has guns.

Thinking about going Challenger with Medic. Just Paladin Style. Getting in front of everyone, protect them, heal them.
It seems a little rude or more of a backhanded compliment to call the Handler the "training wheels" archetype where a player can learn the ropes before they're ready to play "real Remnant". I won't say that having an extra body at all times doesn't drastically help with encounter control and the action economy, but it doesn't change that the Handler should be held up and praised as the true all-rounder it is, being arguably the single best solo archetype and the ultimate flex pick in co-op sessions. By design (commonly known as the "hybrid tax"), it cannot be allowed to outshine a specialist in its field - the Handler can never out-damage a Hunter/Gunslinger, out-tank a Challenger, or out-heal a Medic - but the fact it can do all three at once is itself a major boon; the Handler may not have the best answer for any situation, but it always has an answer for EVERY situation, and that's more valuable than people might realize. Versatility, having no outstanding weaknesses, is its own strength.

Besides, who would hate having a dog buddy? I might be a little biased, since the Very Good Boy was one of my single favorite weapon mods from Remnant 1 and must've almost assuredly been part of the inspiration for the Handler.

Imagine being so offended over an innocuous statement that you write a novella. Nobody is gonna judge you for your training wheels, play whatever you want.
I'm thinking of starting as Hunter and then getting Handler later. Hunter will define how I engage with enemies and the Handler can still work for self and team buffs.
Edit: Rethinking, might start Handler to get the buffs on that leveled then grab Gunslinger to swap into the primary slot so I can use a boosted Quickdraw from Handler to combo with the damage buff from my good boi for some real burst hours.
Definitely start as handler since you can actually buy the hunter class item right away in the starting area. Who knows how hard it is to unlock handler though. That is my plan. Start Handler and then buy hunter right away.
Just from these starting classes I think Hunter/handler would be very strong and then Challenger/medic seems like a busted combo. Honestly medic or handler are probably the best secondary classes but I have not seen the other classes yet.

I play solo as well, and I run into issues in the first game with the ads that show up to help out the mini-bosses. Having the Handler option in the sequel is very appeal to me; same for being able to have a secondary archetype to add into the mix. Handler/Gunslinger or Handler/Challenger (maybe Hunter) are what I'm leaning toward at the moment.
@@SolaScientia I hope Remnant 2 works better for solo players this time around. As someone that's played with coop most of the negative comments I've seen were about the solo difficulty. Handler seems like a great choice 👍

@@SolaScientia Yeah the "make the boss harder by throwing tons of adds at you" was a real killer for me in the first game. It made solo play pretty rough. It has been said that is not true of this game so I am even more excited.
@@matthewc5828 That's my hope as well. I tried starting Remnant: From the Ashes 3 times before it clicked for me. Helped that my most recent attempt actually netted me some good stuff in the first optional dungeon (the first attempt it was just a gun and I was a bit annoyed by that). I'm in the subway after meeting Mudtooth and the ads are so damn annoying. Hell, I had major issues with Gorefist because of those damn puffballs he kept spawning in that would stunlock me to death. I died once over by the stairs and he ended up starting there when I next entered the arena. He got stuck, lmao. I could shoot him, run from the puffballs when he summoned them, and then run back to shoot him some more until he died. It was a right pain in the ass solo until he bugged out on the scenery.
its so surreal to have classes. I wanted to play a pet/support type build with occasional high damage weapon for elite type enemies.
in remnant 1 and made it kinda work.
now to see ACTUAL classes especially for handler is just awesome. cant decide if i wanna do the same thing or change it up now hrmmm

Started as Challenger for the gear, grabbed the SMG, fire mod, and fire ring in Ward 13, bought the Handler unlock from the vendor, switched to Handler then added Challenger as secondary.
The doggo heals me and distracts enemies while I spray them with flaming bullets and buckshot.
100% going Handler/Hunter. Probably have Handler as prime for the free revive

kudos to you, I hope to be like you one day! You can absolutely play this, and if youre worried about how you'll survive, just go on the survivor difficulty and run handler. You will have a companion and the class is very strong on its own! Good luck !

Medic and Challenger classes together, as Primary and Secondary Classes, will turn you into a Paladin the One Men Party: what can be more survivable than a Tank, a Tank that can heal itself in a middle of a fight, while also killing enemies.

Thank you for this! I play these games solo and the ads in Remnant: From the Ashes are a right pain for me so early in the game (I'm at the start of the subway after meeting Mudtooth). I'd been thinking of Hunter or maybe Challenger, but I might just go with Handler. The team perks won't matter to me since I play offline. I prefer the Hunter archetype in Remmant: From the Ashes, but it seems a little less viable solo in Remnant 2. I might start as a Handler and then add Challenger or Gunslinger as my secondary.
I thought the same but to keep in mind all team perks in R2 also effect not just the team but you individually. So you can reap the benefits without being online and playing with others which I would be mostly doing. Hunter/Handler is looking like my way to go.
I've been playing a bit of it. I already have 2 different saves, but that's because I screwed up the first time and picked Hunter when I didn't mean to. I went with Handler on my 2nd save, but my first world is N'Erud and the poor doggo is useless against those flying enemies. Even though I'm playing solo and having a companion to help me out is very useful, I'm starting to think I should either go back to my first save with the Hunter archetype or start a new game and go with Gunslinger instead.

Gunslinger and hunter have a pretty big overlap on their utility I see no reason for double ammo if you can get ammo drops that give 50% ammo more of the time

I'll probably start with handler, then sub either gunslinger or challenger depending on how I wind up approaching things. Definitely going to pick up the LMG ASAP though. More dakka is always a good thing.

They should have made Challengers Stomp skill change into a player centered AoE skill when the button is held down then released. Game is looking good though. I am wondering what other Archetypes we will find aside from Gunslinger. The "turret builder" Archetype is missing. A Necromancer type that summons Root monsters would be cool too.

I see what they did there. The Gunslinger is for people who were so addicted to Remnant 1 that they installed the 'From Hell' mod, which remade an armor set into the gunslinger set

As a dog owner, I'll definitely be playing the handler, i just wish they had different dog breeds, no offense to the German Shepherd, but it would be amazing if they had my dog, the Caucasian Shepherd, for example. Unlockable, discoverable, or during character creation.
Never played a remnant game so im going to try handler. I play games solo so it might be best
challanger/medic or challanger/handler seems like a fun tanky turns brain off frontliner, then again handler/medic would have regen for days which could carry you too
Just got the game free through the PS store deal. Late to the party, but I did everything I had to do to get this unlocked first after starting off with my dog. Now my secondary is the Hunter archetype. Not sure I'll beat the game or anything. It's just something to play while everything is hit and miss in Helldivers II and The First Descendant.
Game has a metric ton of replayability if you like chasing secret gear and weapons. Plus, 3rd DLC dropping in September.
My buddy will be playing Challenger. Still thinking of a class that would complement that.

This game is amazing i have no clue why it hasnt been talked about more... And it has REAL COOP 10/10 for me way better then any souls game ive played and i played them all yes even elden ring. But if elden ring had real coop it would have been worth playing.. This game is underrated like crazy.

I believe you have every single thing but the prime perk, so you should have the dog, you just wont have him be able to use a relic on you likely. I say that cause the secondaries can use all the abilities, and those abilities are dog behaviours, so you should have the dog.
Challenger with handler secondary. Full sword and attack dog combo. 😂
