Am Chewa from Fort Jameson (present day Chipata) and all my children born and breed in Lusaka, so they hardly speak chewa besides the town Chinyanja. When my second born daughter asked me what "Weni Weni" means I told her it means wa zoona (True). Then I asked why she asked me that, she said it's a song by Driemo of Malawi and I wanted to understand it in detail and I couldn't make out what Weni Weni meant. I quickly searched for Driemo and the song Weni Weni on You Tube and listened to it. Wow! It swept me off my feet and blew me away into my past bringing memories both sweet and sour. There and then I subscribed to his channel. Driemo my guy, you are a rear precious DIAMOND with its true VALUE, your music express deep inner feelings of LOVE, AFFECTION, INTIMACY and TOGETHERNESS. Ever since I listened to Weni Weni I follow every Driemo's song with passion and attention. I have also vowed to start sending my children to the village in Chief Chanje Mpala village often so they can become Chewa fluent. Keep it up Driemo, keep dropping them hits.
