This pair of R M Williams Chelsea Boots, called the Macquarie, is a unisex tapered almond toe boot that’s slim and sexy. Very different from their Gardener and Craftsman boots.

I am a Management Consultant in real life but in my Bootlosophy channel, I make videos about boots and all things boot related. This channel posts reviews of boots, unboxing of new boots, and follow-up reviews, and in doing so, may explore the philosophy of the brands and makers as well as the collectors!
In this channel, I will give information found in my research about the brand, the construction, and the materials, but I will express my personal opinions about how I feel about the boots reviewed.

Even if a video is sponsored, I will review the product openly and honestly giving you my personal opinion, warts and all, of the product. I will refuse any sponsorship deals where I am fettered in what I have to say.
I may be given products to review, which is different from receiving cash payment for reviewing an item. In these cases, I insist that the provider of the goods has no rights to what I say and may not review the video before I publish it. Again, my opinion will be honest and my own.

Any opinions on the RM Williams Armadale? They feature the Vibram Eton sole, lower heel like the Macquarie and were made on a new last; the almond toe is slightly wider than the Macquarie (not to the extent of the Turnout) so I find them quite versatile as an everyday boot like the Craftsman.
I think RM had high hopes (assume it isn't cheap to develop a new last) as they were also sold at David Jones & Myer, but they were discounted and discontinued very quickly release. Doesn't bother me though, picked them up for approx. $425 Aussie each.

10:55 .. The first time you re-raised the nap, you did it with the steel/copper hair side of the brush.. 11:34 but the second time you re-raised the nap, you turned the brush over to the stubbed side and re-raised the nap with the stubbed side...so which one is it? Is the stubbed side of the brush for re-raising the nap, or is it intended for superficial stain removal, as you demonstrated at 10:55 ? (Or does it not matter?) excellent video btw

@@silentsir2446 doesn’t matter - the stiffer bristles are best to first raise flattened nap and I use the rubber to align the raised nap.

One of my oldest pairs were my black suede Craftsmans, love the look. Sometimes wish it came with a natural edge sole for a bit more of a casual contrast - perhaps one day I'll do that when their MTO program returns.
Curious how you know the suede on the Macquarie is C.F. Stead? R.M's customer service told me when I enquired via email that their leather department said they usually source their suede from Italian tanneries, at least for the Craftsman, though the exact one can vary depending on date of manufacture. They use C.F. suede in the heritage suede Craftsmans, but it's clearly listed on their site when they do. I'm always curious where they source their leathers from, and they are not always forthcoming.

My RM sizing is out of whack. I'm measured 9D on Brannock, and I've been wearing 8G Comfort Craftsman, Signatures and Chinchilla for a good 3 or 4 years. My feet hurt. I have corns on the bottom of my right foot and toes, hammer toes and bunions on my big toe. I can't wear pointy shoes anymore after all of this.

It's a shame RM cut comers on materials because theirs is the nicest chelsea silhouette available. I owned a few newer comforts and hate the brand now for how cheap and flimsy they feel.

@@Bootlosophy someone on r/boots posted cut images of older and new RMWs. Older boots had leather heel counters, newer have synthetic, and Weston's latest RMW video showed the uppers are thinner leather now. These things matter to me in terms of quality and overall feel. After I got a Viberg chelsea I sold the RMs and haven't looked back but it's a shame because RMs look great. I'd gladly pay more for RMs with natural materials.

Rose anvil cut open the Comfort craftsman, not the classic Craftman. How much were your Viberg's? It's all relative. RMW are $150 AUD overpriced but don't deserve the recent hate. Tall poppy syndrome anybody?
