      While they are dope to listen to, it seems far too conceded and wrong IMO. The only anthem the parties should play in a neutral state are the national ones or other historical anthems and songs. Shows their ultimate commitment is to the nation and not themselves, tldr: looks better if you don’t.

      This song's got a history in the Labour party, going back to its original foundation. Other parties were founded before (Like the Tory party) had no anthem as the members saw no purpose. No other political party in Britain has anthems, as they saw no purpose for one whereas this song is older than the party itself and sort of mixed with it over time.

      @@hanneslundin346 Oh boy, where to start...
      Kier Starmer worked with various Labour MPs, including Angela Raynor, to stab the Leader of the Party, Jeremy Corbyn, in the back. Jeremy Corbyn was a socialist and had the right idea of it all - believe me, he would've made a great Prime Minister.
      Jeremy Corbyn was very vocal about the way Palestinians were being treated by the *STATE* of Israel. I emphasise 'state' as it is the Zionistic Government and the rulers of said state who Mr Corbyn was opposed to - not the religion (Judaism and Jewish people). Being opposed to, or against, the State of Israel is called anti-zionism, whereas being against or disliking of Jewish people is called anti-semitism.
      Anyway, the right-wing media here in England took the opportunity before them. News outlets such as the Daily Mail, the Telegraph and the Sun (pardon my language) manipulated the truth - they told people Jeremy Corbyn was against the RELIGION of Israel, Judaism, and that he hated Jewish people. It was sad, really - Jewish people were turned into a political football, when the real issue was the way Palestinians were bring treated by Israeli Officials.
      Kier Starmer used the weapon laid out before him by Murdoch's media and claimed that Jeremy Corbyn was anti-semitic. Bearing in mind, Jeremy has fought against racism his whole life.
      Kier Starmer, now Leader of the Labour Party, exercised his new powers joyfully by suspending Rebecca Long-Bailey (another decent MP) over an anti-zionistic tweet regarding Palestine, claiming that it was anti-semitic. Soon after, Jeremy Corbyn went the same way.
      Jeremy Corbyn did more for Labour than Kier Starmer could ever do. That's not to mention how Starmer has provided little to no meaningful opposition whatsoever, allowing the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, to continue his destructive, incompetent and frankly dangerous way of leading the country.

If Starmer says anything too left of centre in the run up to the election, he'll get smeared to the point of being unelectable, just like Corbyn was. And, the moment, he has to appeal to a very large section of the population. He can't preach to the choir if he wants to win. He has to play the game at the moment. When he wins, he can veer left. @@saltzmanweniger They are fed up with 'experts'; Labour isn't the party it was 40 years ago.
      It's now infested with middle-class elitists who blatantly ignore the problems faced by the British-working class; instead of family and community, they now embrace 'diversity' and 'multiculturalism'.
      After the Rotherham scandal, which the local Labour council and local-police service ignored for years, MP Naz Shah retweeted a tweet detailing '..shut up for the sake of diversity..', why should the working class vote for a party which prioritises concepts such as 'diversity' over its traditional voting base.
      You still don't understand the loss in December-2019; you never will.
      The Conservatives are the party of business and exploitation; there's no denying that, but compared to the track record of Labour in the last 3-decades, they are saints.

      @EternalShadow1667 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AndrewArminRyan not sure that was the point of the comment, I think they meant that we shouldn’t reject science like the Republicans are currently trying to do. Also, I don’t think that was the reason for 2019. You seem to be making the argument that the electorate demanded a more socialist Labour Party. In fact, I think the opposite in true. In “western” democracies, there appears to be a shift towards some sort of right wing consensus, where it is right vs right on the political spectrum. 2019 exemplified the death throes of Old Labour, the death of essentially communism within the party, led by the Labour Old Guard. The British people, for good or for worse, clearly did not like Corbyn’s manifesto and have not for the past 40 or so years, since the end of all of that internal strife in the party (I forget the exact terms, I think Gaitskellism?). Tony Blair set a new consensus. Indeed, this is why I think that the Labour Party as we know it is indeed dead. Socialism just isn’t cool anymore. If the Party is smart, it will counter this by killing off ideology altogether and focusing on government competency instead. Indeed, I think Starmer might be trying to do this at the moment, with Johnson’s failures on Brexit and the Pandemic.

      @awkie 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

       @Teletek short version: keir starmer, the current leader of the labour party, ran as a socialist candidate with socialist promises, but has broken all those promises. he is betraying the values and ideals of the labour party.
      very very long version: labour was founded out of various socialist groups coming together. over time the party's commitment to its founding values has... wavered, but the left always had at least some sway in the party. that was until 1997, when the party had a landslide victory under new leader tony blair, who reformed the party into what was marketed as "new labour". new labour was much closer to what you'd recognise as democrats in america. taking money from corporate interests, diving into whatever wars they could find an excuse for, not doing too much domestically with their power, and what they did do was questionable. the people in power during this time are called "blairites".
      in 2015, blairites were removed from the leadership by jeremy corbyn, who ran a socialist campaign based on social and economic justice. he was very successful, gaining staggering amounts of new membership and support for the party, but was stifled by the blairites in positions of power in the party who made life difficult, including an attempt to remove him, interference in election campaigning that may have cost labour a victory in 2017, slander campaigns in the media, all kinds of things.
      for a bunch of reasons, including the brexit policy that keir starmer himself wrote, labour lost the 2019 election. badly. corbyn stepped down for a new leadership election. finally, starmer properly enters the story. he's a lawyer, the former director of public prosecutions (like an attorney general). people liked him because he represented stability. they wanted someone safe, reasonable, respectable. during the campaign, he represented himself as a socialist, and promised not to drop the policies from the last manifesto (corbyn's), which he claimed to think were good policies. naturally, after becoming leader he brought a return to blairite labour. gone was the substance, the policy, the opposition to the conservative government. he broke every campaign promise almost comically fast. he's managed to lose so much support that he's now nearly bankrupted the party, and is begging for corporate donations. it's pathetic, sad, and depressing to be honest.

    The holyday's tree is christmas tree
    It shrouded oft our christmas night
    And ere their night pass away
    Their bulbs light dyed its every fold.
    Then raise the christmas tree high
    Beneath its shade we'll singing carroll
    Though cold wind and snowing snow
    We'll keep the christmas tree standing here.

      not if the media says otherwise
      Starmer is a shambles, kneels to those corporate demons who wish to defund the police yet changes colours when a police gets killed doing his job. The hypocrisy is unreal yet the BBC acclaims he’s “more popular” than Boris Johnson.

      @@markcangila1613 the Labour Party has always stood for ending police cuts, Floyd is not a member of the working class, he was a drug addict and a convicted criminal, Soros is the corporate demon who gave them billions to go riot and rampage on the street, every billion dollar corporation was used as a front to push this agenda forward and put the US nearer to martial law. So no, those martyrs were not killed by law enforcers, they were slain by the Upper Class’ private militia. Stop associating class with colour and leave the USA to fight amongst themselves.
