Shark tooth hunting is the reason my husband and I moved to where we live in Florida, USA in 2011. Your finds were beautiful. I do love just watching you mudlark. You always seem to enjoy each others company. It’s peaceful, kind, creative and perfectly charming!!

I grew up by the beach and also went to primary school that was right in front of the beach. We would have many lessons on the sand, and go looking for fossils and unusual shells. We weren't allowed to keep any as we were always told they belong to the Earth and sea creatures need them more than we do. I love watching you find your beach treasures because it reminds me of those days. I'm in South Australia so there were lots of wonderful creatures we'd come across and also rescue. My Dad and I would get up really early and go for a run and swim before breakfast and on 2 occassions we found baby sharks. We put them back into the water, very carefully, because they have a mouth full of teeth. We would also be lucky enough to have dolphins sometimes swim with us. Best memories of my childhood😊

Always love the contrast between Oscar child enthusiam (which is sometime short, like videos where he got bored quickly and went to film, to drone or on his toy bike^^) and both of your seriousness (and euphory) at finding things (beeds and legs :p)

Fleur, your first find was indeed a bullet, the part that is fired from the shell casing or cartridge. That's how they look when they haven't impacted anything to cause distortion. You don't want to know how I know, but it's "professional knowledge" 🤓

I personally adore fossils. So this lark was interesting for me. We all wonder at finding things from our history, but the thought of thousands of years being tossed about in the sea and still surviving and looking most of the time, so perfect...well its amazing and kind of magical. To think these are parts of or a whole creature at one time. Just going about their day, then bam, They die then buried. Calcified and turned to stone. The mind boggles. Its almost impossible to imagine that amount of time. I'm off now to find the crafting post you mentioned.. Its not come up on my feed, which is annoying. So its good you mentioned it. Thanks. Xx
