      We sure do! We have plans for some very easy flies to tie and there's certainly some simple patterns available in our Tying Tuesday Playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLR4SExPuVZNHiWzoRFXYPgAhdWwEnlobZ.html

    Hey Max! nice tie my man! love the swimmy action. what size hook for the back & how much wabbit did you use, also what size hook for the front & how much wabbit did you use?

    • @AvidMax
      @AvidMax  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The back hook is a Daiichi 2557 size 4 ( www.avidmax.com/daiichi-2557-octopus-hook/ ) and the front hook/shank is a Firehole 811 in size 2 ( www.avidmax.com/firehole-sticks-fly-tying-hooks-811/ ) You could simply just use a hookless shank for this, but it's harder to secure those in a vise depending on your setup.. For the wabbit here is my tip; you can wrap around the shank before tying in to see how much you need and trim to exact length - if you are tying a bunch, you should cut all of the strips needed at once to minimize waste and maximize efficiency for production tying! My final pro tip is to make a little cheat sheet to keep on your bench with actual-size measurements for how long to trim the strips for the back portion and the front portion once you get that length dialed in - just another way to save time and not waste material.

      No problem, it definitely helps me tie more effectively and efficiently. Plus, when things are organized I usually feel more inspired to sit down and tie! so it's a win-win.
      Happy fishing,

      I love the way they look and I enjoy tying them, but then again the walt's worm catches just as well as flies I spent a lot more effort tying... Thanks for the comment, Mike!

    Just wondering if using a long shank would be as effective as cutting off the hook. I know not cost effective as shanks are pricy I do however have a bunch of 25 and 35 mm shanks from sets ive bought and didnt use, but it seems like a perfect fit for the unused shanks I have and now I have a decent pattern to use them on. Love seeing that peak vise in the video as well ive had mine around 12 yrs now and it's just as good as day 1 . And I'm always in the mood to win some much needed equipment like the loon blackout core tying kit. Tight lines Fly Tying Tuesday.

    Really like the mouse fly. Since you cut the front hook point off do you thing your hook up percentage would increase if the back hook was pointed downward? Thanks
