Difference of fitness levels took them out of the game.. it really shows the comparison between div1 and div3. MTL were constantly moving and energetic in control of the entire game.. while Vaughan was struggling to keep up.. Not something to criticize but important to realize. There was a study done recently comparing the first divisions to lower divisions footballers.. the biggest different is VO2 levels.. which means before players of different levels (especially from 1st vs 3rd) step on the field on play, not even looking at technical abilities or short spurt athleticism - they are already fighting a losing battle to stay in the game fitness wise. once fitness starts to diminish, it reduces the correct mind muscle connection and impossible to keep proper form and technique, you can no longer execute the way you'd like to. And if you know L1O, these guys are fit, but MLS and division 1 level clubs have much more resources and methods to increase overall fitness levels above the rest.

Lol. Montreal are absolute dogshit right now in MLS play, and you’re saying Vaughan played “decent”? Hahaha

@@sowaveysuyat to be fair to Vaughn, their season had just started and they had only played one game after a six month layoff, not to mention losing like half their best players+coach whereas as Montreal was in the middle of their season. not saying you're wrong, just saying we still have to give credit where credit is due and maybe if they played later on in the season we'd see a different result.

That last goal definitely wasn't an offside

    • @DeltaBravoTango

That last goal defintely was an offside
To clarify, it isn't even the shot that came off the Woodwork that puts him offside, I agree, that angle is difficult to confirm, however, it's the play prior, where the teammate miscontrols the ball and the second that ball leaves his foot prior to his taking of the shot, the goalscorer is in a clear offside position and makes contact with the goalkeeper, impeding his ability to reach the ball faster, the ball subsequently comes off the woodwork and is headed in the goal. Hence, there is at least 1 CLEAR offside, and even the goal itself is a likely offside had that first bit not been relavent.

That stadium (21,000 + some seats) was full from half-season onwards last year. This season we have a really bad team, and this game was against a semi-professional provincial league team in the first round of the Canadian Championship.

Vaughan has talent on their team. They just couldn't keep up toward the end of the first half.

Any chance you could put up the Montreal lineup too next time? You got one for the other team...
Definitely need a scorecard to keep track of all these new players and while the kids know all the bench players at Chelsea, City, Milan, etc, recognizing local players is way harder.

Montreal is awful. Thank god Thierry Henry is gone and didn’t have to watch that nonsense. I think half the players on Vaughn drove home to Woodbridge in their Hyundai Elantra’s so they could get up for work the next day. In all seriousness, Vaughn battled. Good job boys, 2-0 is respectable
