How to USB BIOS Flash MSI B550 Unify and others using Flashback port
You will need the following items to successfully Flash a new BIOS onto your MSI MEG B550 Unify or other supported MSI boards with USB BIOS flashback feature.

RECOMMENDED USB DRIVE

A bare motherboard - in this instance MSI MEG B550 Unify
A spare USB 2.0 or 3.0 flash drive that supports FAT32 (ideally under 64GB)
A working computer with Internet access and a USB type A port
A working PSU with a 24 pin ATX and 4 or 8 pin CPU power (EPS) connection
First remove any needed files and format the USB drive to FAT32
Go to the MSI site for the board and download the appropriate BIOS file
Put the BIOS file only onto the USB stick and rename the file to MSI.ROM (all caps)
Connect the motherboard 24 and 4 or 8 pin EPS connectors
Insert the USB drive into the BIOS flashback port as marked on the IO shield
Press the BIOS Flashback button for a couple on seconds.
The board should power and the Flashback light illuminate
Now wait patiently for around 5 minutes for the process to complete.
When it is done the board will power cycle and the BIOS flashback light will go out and the DBUG LED should be stuck on CPU, this is normal as the CPU is missing.
Build the board up with components and test before fully building in a case.

Thanks for another great "how to" video, Mike! I know that sinking feeling when a BIOS flash goes bad - it isn't very nice. This is light-years better than having to replace the motherboard - shipping,, waiting possibly weeks for the replacement and general frustration can be avoided!
i think that the usb flash should now be a standard feature due to the rapid development of new processors and technology. It can't cost that much extra to add it surely?

Still would like to know if the new AGESA that came out just days ago would have solved the issue you had. Maybe Oletta can do a before and after test when she gets hers if she has a PCIE 4.0 compliant video card to stuff into her board. Together we can figure these things out. And when I say together, I mean the money Oletta has that no one else has hehe!

Hey Mike. The b550 Unify I ordered should arrive Tuesday. The EKWB EK-Quantum Velocity waterblock could take until the 19th to arrive. As soon as I get my system together I"ll let you know if my mobo has the same issues you experienced. Wish I knew about the Sunday live stream. I have the notification bell checked, but I don't get any notifications until I open the TH-cam page. The Flash button is a nice feature, but I always flash it in the BIOS.
hopefully your board will be fine, i guess due to the price i paid and the fact is was a returned board i should have been prepared for the worst

I've created a bootable flash drive. Followed all the instructions, and no flashing light when I press the button. Everything is compatible, and currently my CPU is connected to the motherboard since I need to update BIOS in order to support the CPU. Motherboard is an MSI B550 A-PRO and CPU is AMD Ryzeon 5 5600x

I'm so done with trident z neo not working with my unify motherboard amd 5600x 2080ti. The DRAM is good I tested in another board intel and it recognized it. I tried one stick I also tested other ram in the board and it worked fine. I did a jbat reset flash to bios and still nothing. The board is compatible according to msi and trident in conjunction with the 5600x. I am at a loss
yes that is weird trident are normally pretty much plug and play. not sure what to recommend there
Im facing same issue. Its not sending any signal to the monitor. I tried updating bios. And changed sticks. But still nothing. Any help??

It is a system requirement if you don’t change it the system can’t read it
