I dont think people realize how deep and how good the lore is for the my time games. Like I think way to many people write it off as just another farming sim when really it's one of the more unique ones. Also I am so excited for evershine that I started replaying sandrock lol.
Thanks for doing this - I am always fascinated by the lore in these games. I have played both Portia (2500hrs) and Sandrock (1500hrs) and backed Sandrock in kickstarter. I can't really say which one is better as they are both such different games. I love Sandrock for the story - I find it more involved and I love releationships you build up. Portia is more of a cozy game to me whereas Sandrock is an adventure. Sorry for the wall of text LOL
Never be sorry for wall of text! :) I agree it's hard to choose a favorite, they are both amazing! I think I feel more invested in the story and characters of Sandrock as well!

Hii I'm a player who plans on getting into Evershine, I never really played the 2 previous games so I missed out on the lore and things, so I got a better understanding of the world now thanks to this video
The other reason why i love my time franchise beside the lore are the reference a lot of pop culture things, especially in sandrock where they are referencing cowboy movies 😁
Quick quibble. I don't remember coming across where the Church of Light may have started "topside"... but they are based in Meidi, not Barnarock. There are several references to it in the late stages of the Sandrock storyline.
I've been a great fan of the My Time series. I purchased Portia in the beginning and supported Sandrock in Kickstarter. I'm just now rerunning Sandrock to play all the new updates. I'm looking forward to Evershine (hopefully, they stay clear of the Curse of the Sequel). I appreciate your collection of the lore, it fills in a lot of the spaces in what I already know. Thank you for your post, it was well done and informative. I love this type of gaming, not a big fan of the first person shooter games. Blessings.

This is suuuuuper helpful pre-Evershine 🙌🏻 Y’know, Peach’s name always stuck out to me - why name such an important person after a FRUIT of all things in a pseudo-farm sim? But after this I wondered: what if people in the apocalypse took surnames from a significant item/food in their life? Maybe what they missed eating most on the surface or what their last meal was. When you have no other way of tracking lineages, I wouldn’t be surprised.

It's amazing how good of a job localization did for this game, considering the vast majority of devs are Asian. In MTAP I found a couple of mistakes but far, far fewer for such a large game than some others I've played.

I agree, to me Sandrock has a lot more replayability due to all the quality of life upgrades over Portia.
