  • This is an update to my previous video of growing copper metal crystals. I show the yield of my second batch in the same solution and ingot. This is after exactly 60 more days of growth since the first video.
First video: • How to Make Large Copp...
What I do with the solution: • Noble metals from copp...

I am glad you mentioned that you sell these to people looking for pure elemental copper. While that answers my question why do you grow these, it raises another question: What do people who buy these do with them?

It would be amazing if you could produce native silver crystals in sizes like that!

You should try electroforming jewelry with some of the stones you showed in other videos. I cut and polish and then epoxy a stone to a copper ring shank and then grow copper around the stone. Looks great. Also, you can dip those crystals in some kind of acid like HCl and it would get rid of that oxidation.

I'd keep the whole thing instead of breaking it up. Really cool stuff man.

I found it AMAZING if you take natural native copper specimens and use them as your giant seed crystals. seriously amazing results

To clean copper, jewelers use either simple pool cleaner acid (or weak mix of muriatic acid) in a weak solution for 15 mins to get rid of oxidation, or lately I just use warm vinegar and salt. You can do it in cold solution too, but it takes longer. Don't leave too long or it will start to etch.

The copper crystals in the ingot resemble orange opals. Shaped and coated, they should make really interesting jewelry.
PS, check out Harbor Freight's ultrasonic cleaner. Inexpensive, but really well-made, surprisingly. I've had mine for over 10 years. It gets rough use cleaning brass casings for my reloading. It is the go to cleaner for the competitive shooting community.

If ya want to really get those to shine, clean them off in a solution of ammonia. That complexes with the copper oxides to dissolve them. I do the same thing to my silver crystals to clean them. It will really make them pop.

You can also grow copper metal crystals using a platinum electrode much faster with higher current and voltage all within half an hour.

Why dont you just snip the wire at the back side first to access the bases of the crystal chains

Great great video's what do you do with the ending product. Do they use them in jewelry or what have you. I love the way you explain everything I wish everybody else to do the same when making a video. Have you ever heard of shattuckite, Stone that part copper. And other elements. I wonder what that would make. Thank you for posting this it was great

try fast crystallization, no matter if they are spiky, mesh the better, for ultra low density, make the crystals big, try welder as the power supply, dc

I wan't to make some of these myself and photograph them! I'm a macro photographer so I imagine these would make some amazing up close shots.
I just found your channel so I apologize if this has already been shown in a later video, but do these oxidize fast?
