Dekho Rectangle ki length aur breadth alag hoti hai aur humne logo ko length pe hi bithaya hai. Isliye woh kauni length pe baithe hai woh matter nahi karta. Isliye divided by 2 kiya Square ki case me humne square is chaaro sides pe bithaya hai isliye divided by 4 kiya kyuki 1st person jab baithege uski liye kis side baithu woh option nahi hai, ( kyuki table ko 4 taraf se dekha ja sakta hai )
Rectangular table pe information wrong LG rha hai...waha pe 4 sides hai...for (12/4)x 11! Hona chahiye....and other usko flip krne pe 2 ways aayega...fir (2x 12/4)11! Hoga

Because we can rotate the table, so which side he is sitting can have exactly a similar case if the table is rotated so those 2 positions are same If this is a case on rectangular table👇 A _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Then the below is obtained by rotating the table, so these 2 positions are identical for A _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ A Similarly for the below _A _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ __ _ _A _ So have only 6 options ( the 6 seats) ( he don't have option of which side) but when he sits so with reference to A all remaining 11 seats are distinct with relative to A so remaining 11 person can be arranged on 11! ways I hope you get it :)
