In my own fan-warriors story, the clans avoid mass inbreeding by doing an apprentice trade. Kits old enough to become apprentices are given a choice on what clan they would want to join. The clans are a lot more diplomatic and socially structured, so tensions don’t often happen when kits are traded. It’s seen as an opportunity to meet new cats and explore new places. Every moon, the clans gather at Grottoclan to reunite with their birth clan’s family and friends, and throughout the seasons, many festivals are held to honor their ancestors and bond with their fellow cats. These clans are very diverse and societally advanced as a result of this unity, to the point that these cats have entered their own form of Bronze Age, carving into mountains to make underground cities, utilizing farming methods for cultivating medicinal plants and attracting prey, and even forming alliances with other animals! They have also flourished in the wild because of their near isolation from humans. Two-legs are seen as more of a mythical creature to the cats than a genuine threat, and monsters/cars are unheard of, let alone roads. Yellowstone started with 37 wolves. Most of them are related. Except they aren't given humanish ways... but those wolves definitely share ancestors closely and it doesn't help that a couple years ago the wolves were being baited outside because they were 'dlisted.

I think one easy-quick fix would be letting the she-cats have kits without mentioning or stating who the father is. Just let the father be a mystery or make it seem like these she-cats just had a fling or something with an un-named loner who passed through the territory one day. just let these she-cats have one night stands and be single moms lol.
That still wouldn’t completely solve it though, because cats can still be related to each other through maternal family. Like how Whitewing and Birchfall are actually second cousins because their grandmothers, Brindleface and Frostfur, were sisters
@@starstorm1267 yeah that is true, i mostly made this comment as a joke tbh. Honestly I don't think they'll ever fix or mention the Incest Problem because I doubt the Erins/New Team or whoever is writing Warriors these days wants to admit to their pre-teen audience that they've been making cousins have babies with each other for the past years. *Honestly its kinda sad tbh bc cats barely acknowledge their family outside of their parents or siblings and occasionally grandparents, has there ever been a cat who acknowledged somebody as their Uncle or Cousin and not just as 'Kin' or something?*
Ivypool dating Fernsong after having her entire arc about being jealous about not being included in the kin of Firestar's kin prophecy despite being kin is Such a writing choice. Plus the age gap!
@@firenkyo8073 I disagree, a two year age gap between two adult cats is not really weird. While real cat biology does not matter in warrior cats (as well as their aging); animals age differently. The age gap between a 2 years old and a 4 years old cat is differnt than from a 13 years old and a 15 years old cat.
It's kinda funny how the new team passes on pretty much all opportunities to at least broaden the genetic diversity in ThunderClan a little. Mousewhisker? Stays single. Stormcloud? Let's ignore Vicky hinting at Cherryfall X Stormcloud in Bramblestar's Storm. Twigbranch and Finleap? Let's keep the SkyClan cats to themselves AND also have one of them not want any kits (soon) (which would be refreshing but why'd they have to pick her for that?) Fernstripe, you're out last hope
@@kittenpuke8918then, for example, instead of making this whole Fernsong and Ivypool a thing, they could make Twigbranch not wanting to stay in the nursery and Finleap offering to stay in nursery. We get a litter, there's no incest and we have a tom who is taking care of kits. Three birds with one stone. I hate how they keep killing interesting characters or characters with new genes and all those nobodies are still here and do nothing except for being related to each other.
I was thinking about an arc where twolegs notice the cats because they were causing problems somehow and so they come in an attempt to remove them or at least cut the population. Similar to in Hawkwing's Journey when Skyclan was in that one forest for a bit. This would cut the population fast And then keep the cats from outside of the clans to help fix the diversity. Do more things like Raggedstar's mom (I forget her name but she mated with an outsider), etc.
Remember book 1? In into the wild They had 8 warriors, 5 apprentices, and 4-5 elders and only a couple kits.and the current last book we have now thunderclan has 35 cats in total. That’s a lot of cats
The fact that there’s an entire prophecy about Lionblaze and Jayfeather being related to Dovewing- and therefore Ivypool- makes Fernsong x Ivypool SO much worse to me. With the other cats you can kinda try to ignore everyone being related if you squint, but because they made such a point with the power of three cats being related it’s basically impossible to ignore the fact that Ivypool became mates with Lionblaze’s son. I’ve always hated the pairing because of it I need half the clan to be killed off by some disease and replaced with loners at this point.
yeah it's definitely weird especially when they point it out. idk how you would fix the inbreeding at this point though without killing off a bunch of characters and introducing new ones from outside thunderclan and/or doing a massive time skip. they could also go back to the TPB system where biological family isn't that important and a lot of cats seemed to just materialize out of thin air
Ok they're related but consider how far apart. Lionblaze's grandpa Firestar was the uncle of Dovewing and Ivypool's grandpa Cloudtail. Ivypool and Fernsong are not even cousins, and cousin relationships were pretty common throughout history when people didn't live in huge countries but rather small tribes. It's not shocking, really
@@windylue6206 I know it’s far apart. It wouldn’t even be that noticeable if it weren’t for the Power of Three Prophecy like I said in my original comment; that’s where the weirdness comes into play. It highlights them being related as a genuine major plot point that they talk about a lot. If it weren’t for that prophecy, I doubt I or anyone else would actually care, but it’s there and it makes everything weird.
What I find a bit upsetting is that the Erin’s keep spawning in these cats just to kill them off - more rather, kill the ones that have the most plot. It gives you a bit of sadness for a bit up until you realize most of the Clan at that rate just become fillers who are all related to each other. I’ve said this in the Discord and I’ll say it again; I doubt these cats will get any plot. If the Erin’s *do* end up releasing more Novellas that so happen to have a background character as the main, that’s just a background character who got lucky enough to get a super edition - such as Redtail was. But even then, at least Redtail had some kind of relevancy. Unless something very major happens with these guys in the next arc I don’t think they are ever gonna be safe from the background disarray. Seeing the new information for Arc 9 there is a chance these guys might get a redemption if our new protagonjst DOES happen to be from ThunderClan. If not, we may as well consider these guys to be less ordinary than every coffee bean blended into coffee pods.
I think one of the biggest contributors to this problem is that cats seem to be consistently having litters of 3-4 kits, when before that was a little more rare We could do with a few 1-2 kit litters, or simply have less litters
When you said they dilute Thunderclan: This is exactly it, and, to me, the worst problem. I keep hoping we would have an arc that doesn't have a Thunderclan POV, not because I hate TC or because it would be new, but because there's so many nobodys it damper the clan and everything happening in i to me.
i feel like fernsong and ivypool is made worse by the fact that they are literally related by a prophecy. not a prophecy made for them specifically but fernsong's dad was part of the "kin of your kin" prophecy (blatantly stating that the prophecy three are kin) and ivypool's sister was part of it.
we need to bring back characters dying between books like rainwhisker getting hit by a tree. what ever happened to getting hit by a tree? what happened to greencough? what happened to being kidnapped by an owl off screen?
I was thinking about ThunderClan earlier, specifically Bumblestripe. I JUST finished reading Wind and I had just been assuming this whole time that he died a while ago but he's still alive! If he's spoken at ALL I just can't remember and he's a character I like
You nailed exactly what I was feeling in that a lot of these new cats feel like they were created to fill some mandate. They're so largely forgettable that I honestly forgot Snowbush and Ambermoon died.
Me, limiting my starting cats to like 15-20 and allowing cross-Colony breeding, breeding with cats outside of the Colonies, and letting a cat leave their Colony to go on their own journey or to potentially join another
It’s fun to see which one of these “nobody” Thunderclan cats are peoples’ favourite. Personally mine is Leafshade because her name and design are cool, and the way Spotfur talks about her is funny.
I like Leafshade a lot too, but my personal favorite is Plumstone! I like to pretend she is silly and goofy >:] I also like to pretend Hollytuft is a compelling character
i love lilyheart because her name is so cute (plus shes named after her mother and her sister, whose death she blames herself for). also her sprite on the wiki is pretty. seedpaw's death really hit me when i read bramblestar's storm as a kid, so i remember the two of them well.
I appreciate the ocean ambiance in the background. The Harestar video is one of my favorites just because it’s so relaxing to listen to you talk over that ambiance hahaha
I feel that most of these casts of nobodies is just fodder to fill up allegiances (wow). I find it so strange how the new team hasn't fleshed out a good majority of cats in ThunderClan, even though were in their POV for a good majority of books. It's silly to have so many characters just to do nothing with them, imo.
I want to love these background cats as much as i loved the background apprentices in power of three, but they’re not just interesting enough. Except FlipClaw. I love FlipClaw.
Honestly it’s just that they’re not killing Thunderclan cats I mean who was the last Thunderclan cat to die? I think Bristlefrost, graystripe, stemleaf, but that’s only three cats and it’s been five books since then.
True , no one died in the newest arc (I mean, technically there were no reason for having several cat dying. But maybe we'll get a big battle in Star which would results in some losses)
i think it logically always had to be, especially in the pre bluestar era when thunderclan was staunchly against letting any outsiders join. it worked when you just didn't think about it but now that we read about several generations being born and becoming adults it gets quite weird
@@ez3748 I can honestly imagine that being the premise for an arc. It would be an excuse to trim down and characterise the ThunderClan cast specifically and if it shook up the Clans' structure, that would be even cooler
How are they not catching animal controls attention by now? Australia has one overpopulation of feral cats, they get shot at. Especially if the new books take place in our current decade
OK new idea, we just have a mass extinction event among all the plans and we kill off basically all the cat so the clans have to start over and get outside cats to join them because there is so few cats left in the clans. I’m thinking of fire or something that spreads among all of the clans. I just think that the warrior cats books have added too many new characters at this point that are two interconnected and it’s getting a critical mass of 20.
honestly I feel like all these characters could have had really good character development but were wasted… like Hollytuft could’ve have been a somebody, like thinking about Hollyleaf, who she was named after, (according to the warriors wiki) and having some kind of development related to that… basically the Erins wasted a whole bunch of cats instead of having them do literally anything at all
Molewhisker should become mates with Minnowtail and bring her to ThunderClan so that their babies can be unrelated to anyway and we have even the illusion of genetic diversity. EDIT- Mousewhisker. I meant Mousewhisker. Why didn't anyone say anything?
I’m pretty sure Birchfall, Poppyfrost, Lilyheart, Cinderheart, Brambleclaw, Thornclaw, Brightheart, and Brackenfur are the only pure ThunderClan cats, considering all of the new generations and their descendants have kittypet blood through Firestar or Millie, or loner blood through Daisy. The descendants of Whitestorm have WindClan blood through his great grandfather Eaglestorm. So once said cats die out, almost every new character will be a descendant of Firestar…..
I love this! I want to comment on the genetic stuff though. I totally agree with you, but with all of the other continuity errors from the team, I think we are asking way too much to see some genetic diversity. Ask for that, we would have to go way way back, pretty much to the first arc. I seriously doubt everyone on the team reads the books in the current ark that they’re working on other than like Kate would actually actually read her own book as she’s writing it. But does Kate read any of Chareth’s books? I honestly doubt it because of so very many continuity errors. So asking for genetic diversity would be like asking for a Goldmine I think at this point. But it would definitely be nice and a lot less disturbing. Maybe that’s why they came up with the idea of letting cats from other clans join a different clan. Maybe they realize the problem and it’s the only solution they could come up with because they’ve engaged in this for so very long. And as to Honeyfern and Honeyfur… yeah, try reading all of these books in the audio format and hearing the name Honeyfur for the first time. My thought was I could’ve sworn that she died a long time ago. After listening to the name a couple of times though, I finally got it. 😊
And here I thought my best friend's family tree was confusing because her grandmother is also her aunt... they have nothing in comparison to ThunderClan

@@starstorm1267ashfur is squirrelflights half uncle, and bramble star is her second cousin. Oh tigerstar, sandstorm, and graystripe are all cousins.
freaky
i love thinking about the nobodies and giving them personality based on 1 quote
Should have added Fernstripe and Stormcloud to the nobodies. Also it would have been worse had Snap and Fly not become kittypets
Ivypool dating Fernsong after having her entire arc about being jealous about not being included in the kin of Firestar's kin prophecy despite being kin is Such a writing choice. Plus the age gap!
its only about 2 years
@@Michaelcat5 I still think it's pretty weird, especially since that's a decent amount in cat time
I agree, I know they're a really popular pairing bc of the whole "male nursery queen" thing but it always felt so weird and kind of forced to me
@@firenkyo8073 I disagree, a two year age gap between two adult cats is not really weird. While real cat biology does not matter in warrior cats (as well as their aging); animals age differently. The age gap between a 2 years old and a 4 years old cat is differnt than from a 13 years old and a 15 years old cat.
@@firenkyo8073 irl my cats father is probaly about 10 years plus the mom was 6 months old
It's kinda funny how the new team passes on pretty much all opportunities to at least broaden the genetic diversity in ThunderClan a little. Mousewhisker? Stays single. Stormcloud? Let's ignore Vicky hinting at Cherryfall X Stormcloud in Bramblestar's Storm. Twigbranch and Finleap? Let's keep the SkyClan cats to themselves AND also have one of them not want any kits (soon) (which would be refreshing but why'd they have to pick her for that?)
Fernstripe, you're out last hope
But then fans would complain about more female cats being relegated to the "queens den" and having babies.
But Twigbranch and Finleap are related too aren't they? Because they had to make Twig and Violet SkyClan cats.
Hardest warrior cats challenge: name a nonimportant background character in Thunderclan during a starless clan
Bumblestripe? Maybe?
Eaglewing just has such a unique name it is literally all I know about him.
this issue is so prevalent that i thought ambermoon was a skyclan cat for the longest time since i had forgotten all of her appearances
Im not kidding. Ive literally never heard of Honeyfur, and i read the past 3 most recent books.
She literally does not do ANYTHING.
Too many cats
jskalskdjs "Too Many Cooks: Warriors Edition"
Yup, *too many*
The Erins watch this video and silently switch on “allow mass extinction events”
This is partly why i advocate for a rabies arc
We get a cool zombie apocalypse arc and have the chance to thin the numbers down a lot
But then thinning numbers only ADDS to the problem of a lack of genetic diversity, and crazy wild incest.
@@Shsy7573 to bolster their numbers again they'd have to let on outsiders or something
I was thinking about an arc where twolegs notice the cats because they were causing problems somehow and so they come in an attempt to remove them or at least cut the population. Similar to in Hawkwing's Journey when Skyclan was in that one forest for a bit. This would cut the population fast
And then keep the cats from outside of the clans to help fix the diversity.
I’ve always hated the pairing because of it
I need half the clan to be killed off by some disease and replaced with loners at this point.
yeah it's definitely weird especially when they point it out. idk how you would fix the inbreeding at this point though without killing off a bunch of characters and introducing new ones from outside thunderclan and/or doing a massive time skip. they could also go back to the TPB system where biological family isn't that important and a lot of cats seemed to just materialize out of thin air
If it weren’t for that prophecy, I doubt I or anyone else would actually care, but it’s there and it makes everything weird.
i actually like them, but the prophecy really does make it awkward
1:21 I love the name silent generation.
Yess! Timeskip generation could also fit :0
I hope the writing team is like ASSIGNED to watching your videos!
It would be so funny if you joined the writing team.
Warior cats: The cardboard cutout edition.
All of your videos always cause me to rant to my friends 😂
I think one of the biggest contributors to this problem is that cats seem to be consistently having litters of 3-4 kits, when before that was a little more rare
We could do with a few 1-2 kit litters, or simply have less litters
When you said they dilute Thunderclan: This is exactly it, and, to me, the worst problem. I keep hoping we would have an arc that doesn't have a Thunderclan POV, not because I hate TC or because it would be new, but because there's so many nobodys it damper the clan and everything happening in i to me.
Well the next arc is going to be a TRAVELING ARC so that'll get rid of some of them.
They really need to introduce a trap neuter release plotline in these books
I think they need a google spreadsheet to keep track of the cats, their personalities and how they should be used in the story
Basically, every new character is related to at least one of the two 'heart's from TPB: Fireheart and/or Lionheart.
0:24 Ah yes, my favorite chatacter, Thirftear
i feel like fernsong and ivypool is made worse by the fact that they are literally related by a prophecy. not a prophecy made for them specifically but fernsong's dad was part of the "kin of your kin" prophecy (blatantly stating that the prophecy three are kin) and ivypool's sister was part of it.
we need to bring back characters dying between books like rainwhisker getting hit by a tree. what ever happened to getting hit by a tree? what happened to greencough? what happened to being kidnapped by an owl off screen?
alderheart and sparkpelt have since become background characters so they can chill around with the background characters in this video
Such a bummer because Alderheart is one of my favorites. 😭
Warrior Cats DESPERATELY needs a soft reset. Completely new cast of characters, new family tree, all of it.
I was thinking about ThunderClan earlier, specifically Bumblestripe. I JUST finished reading Wind and I had just been assuming this whole time that he died a while ago but he's still alive! If he's spoken at ALL I just can't remember and he's a character I like
Speaking of background characters, I friggin love sootfur so much and I have no idea why, just a little goober, his death scene made me cry :c
The writers’ newfound refusal to kill off any kits at all has been a disaster for the background character industry
Can we start calling it the Warriors family wreath
Why would they make so many characters if they're not gonna do anything with them?
i think they just have an idea of how big a clan "should" be and just make characters based off that
MOONKITTI AND AKIRA UPLOAD IN THE SAME DAY?! THIS IS MY LUCKING DAY 🔥🔥🔥
They always do. Both of them upload on Saturday (or Sunday depending on your time zone) an hour apart.
I knew these "no mating with cats outside the clan" rules would be meh for the gene pool in the long run :|
will watch the video in a sec but i'm biting and shaking!!!! hollytuft talking REAL!!!!
What I don’t get I why Thunderclan act like they need more warriors when they have way more than the other clans combined.
Ambermoon snowbush and dewnose are so out of the narrative i forgot brightheart had any kids other than whitewing
Me too. 😭
i love the ocean waves in the background
digging the atmospheric ambient waves
@11:40 you mean Icecloud right XD Icewing is the Riverclan cat, Icecloud is Ferncloud's kitten.
Im definitely making Alabama thunderclan jokes for sure 😂
I want to love these background cats as much as i loved the background apprentices in power of three, but they’re not just interesting enough.
Except FlipClaw. I love FlipClaw.
I say we bring back tiger star and his plan to wipe out thunderclan with the dogs
ThunderClan’s family tree is a circle at this point
i think it logically always had to be, especially in the pre bluestar era when thunderclan was staunchly against letting any outsiders join. it worked when you just didn't think about it but now that we read about several generations being born and becoming adults it gets quite weird
at what point does thunderclan become so huge that they have to split off into another clan lol
Next Warrior Cats arc: Civil War
@@pippastrelle honestly that sounds kinda good
@@ez3748 I can honestly imagine that being the premise for an arc. It would be an excuse to trim down and characterise the ThunderClan cast specifically and if it shook up the Clans' structure, that would be even cooler
this is the best moonkitti video i love not understanding family trees its like a hobby to me
12:02 I was like "What?! Icewing isn't dead yet." then saw in the comments that you meant Icecloud
How are they not catching animal controls attention by now? Australia has one overpopulation of feral cats, they get shot at. Especially if the new books take place in our current decade
Europeans dont care about their local wildlife mostly
I can’t wait till Moonpaw marries Cinderheart’s grandchildren and gives her children Clamydia
Treat the clans' NPCs like star trek red shirts, always works 👌 (btw, I would love a breakdown of the clans' entire genealogy)
As someone who skipped vision of shadows and the last hope I got really confused when I saw like 20 or so more cats in the broken code
How are we feeling about Moonpaw's parents fandom
Day one of asking: will you go over crookedstars promise? More specifically his mother and how in earth she ended up in starclan.
I never really thought about the ThunderClan side character epidemic, but man, this clan really does have enough nobodies for a whole organization
honestly I feel like all these characters could have had really good character development but were wasted… like Hollytuft could’ve have been a somebody, like thinking about Hollyleaf, who she was named after, (according to the warriors wiki) and having some kind of development related to that… basically the Erins wasted a whole bunch of cats instead of having them do literally anything at all
Do you think Shinzo Abe used Thunderclan as his ideal model when trying to solve Japan's population crisis
Molewhisker should become mates with Minnowtail and bring her to ThunderClan so that their babies can be unrelated to anyway and we have even the illusion of genetic diversity.
EDIT- Mousewhisker. I meant Mousewhisker. Why didn't anyone say anything?
I was watching a different video and my brain read the title of this one as 'New students Join the Fatgum Agency'
(Title of other video)
How much pure thunderclan blood actually exists anymore?
I’m pretty sure Birchfall, Poppyfrost, Lilyheart, Cinderheart, Brambleclaw, Thornclaw, Brightheart, and Brackenfur are the only pure ThunderClan cats, considering all of the new generations and their descendants have kittypet blood through Firestar or Millie, or loner blood through Daisy. The descendants of Whitestorm have WindClan blood through his great grandfather Eaglestorm.
So once said cats die out, almost every new character will be a descendant of Firestar…..
I've never said this to another woman before, but I think your voice is cute, Moon
I need Moonkitti to rant about the whole Thinderclan family tree for a whole video please
i love the Dovewing Counter. this is how we should measure time from now on
And here I thought my best friend's family tree was confusing because her grandmother is also her aunt... they have nothing in comparison to ThunderClan
