I really love the irl videos. I really love your s13 and how realistic of a build it is, imy self try to build at a lower budget and with way less man hours and an approachable is something rare on the fancy days of today. I really love the sound, I never really liked n/a ka24s sound but yous sounds so special. I, as you can tell loved this video as well
I've had 5 of these S13s, still have 2, a hatch and a coupe, hatch is auto w/anti lock brakes, not sure about hicas, honestly haven't looked, bought it about a decade ago and haven't touched it since, coupe is manual w/hud. I worked for a rebuilt title guy from 95 til early 2000s that built mainly 240s and Camry's. The HICAS is rare and would be something interesting in a road course. Only seen one work and the wheels didn't turn very much but it made a big difference with turning radius. I've been thinking about LS swapping one to play with.
"They kind of don't." I don't love how this car sounds, but I love how much you love it. I'm not a huge car guy by any means, I drive a scratched up 4cyl "low emissions" Honda Accord. But my favorite sound is a turbocharged V6. But I can respect your car's note.
If I was after block splitting power, it wouldn't be hard to go that next step. I'll never say never, but as of now I just don't need something like that.
Two questions: 1. Why the canted gauges? Is the "normal operating zone" at the top? 2. What makes that supercharger whine? Is it the belt or the air being compressed?
The gauges are canted towards me in a way that the needles are all within easy vision of me when i'm driving the car. The whine? I wish I could give you a straight answer, but there really aren't any out there that I have found. This is a Roots style blower, so I've always assumed that the whine was caused by the compression of air between the two lobes, acting basically like a musical instrument/reed.
Hey! I don't know if you're still active on this channel but I love in Jacksonville and I'm looking to possibly do a similar setup on my car. Idk if you have any cad or measurements for the plates but if so I'd definitely be interested in getting some of that info!
Sadly the original measurements and template are lost to time, but its actually a pretty easy plate to replicate if you have both pieces in hand. I am using the upper intake totally unmodified, so if you punch 4 holes that match the upper into an aluminum blank, its just a matter of positioning the supercharger on the other side where you want it (depending on which belt you want to use, we used the alternator). The only real obstacle is the oil filter, which I relocated, but it could be done without doing that with some precision. The next time around I have it apart, I want to try and scan/measure the plate, but its certainly no steadfast go to, there's a lot of ways it could be done differently or better.
Every time I hear that car really dig in I'm shocked by how good it sounds. From the sound of it, that supercharger gives a little G-forces lovetap. How hard does it throw you back when you kick it on?
Man glad to see a supercharged ka still out there. I had figured they had all but gone extinct. Btw why don’t you just shim the j30 to help it lock better?
It's been a long time since I actually had these conversations, but the reasons I remember are that the CAS was not outputting a clean signal, it's doable but didn't work correctly for the ignition setup he wanted to use. The custom crank trigger is the exact number of teeth, with gap, that he wanted.
Any chance I can get in contact with you? I have a KA24DE with 8.4:1 compression and the same frontier supercharger and I'd love to ask you some questions
curve? Jokes aside it does start to come down very slightly above 6500, but at that point a KA is pretty much ready for you to chill out anyway. Positive displacement blowers like this will make just about full boost at pretty much any RPM you are at, which is risky and something you have to keep in mind when lugging at low rpm.

this video is amazing and deserves more views, the only thing this car needs imo is a pretty good handmade stainless steel exhaust with resonator
i’ve been looking to buy a 240sx and hoping to supercharge it, and this video really helped me get a better view on the car.. great video!

Great to see ConeDodger240 actually dodging cones with his 240

Great video. Been a year since I’ve last visited n was great to come back.
Great to hear more about the car Cone. It's a cool build. Interested to see where it goes in the future!
no 4 cylinder engine sounds like ka24de it like a flaming emotion when I hear it
Hey! This looks like my KA build. I also got a white valve cover and white wheels lol
This thing is so sick, I want to do this to my 240sx.
4:25 Love that background noise cone! :P
Thanks for this video tho, very informative at least for me

Huh neat, first time i see the EDIS-4 system used in the wild for an aftermarket.
Ive always been a sucker for white five spokes. Check out tracklite burns. Similar wheel, fairly light.
I like them, but 15's only :(
@@ConeDodger240 lol, never realized since that was the size I was after for my miata.
Listen to that supercharger howl Kreygasm
inb4 cone comes back to his filming location to find his camera missing.
Here's something "neba been dom befoe"; twin-charged KA24DE. You could say it'd be a KA24DERT. OBX has a manifold for it.
If I was after block splitting power, it wouldn't be hard to go that next step.

bring it up to cars and coffee at the avenues one weekend
the cicada noise is real bad here too :(

Up until about 4 minutes in I feared you'd gone into witness protection.
My camera is older than a lot of YT viewers these days, its probably about time to get rid of that before I try things like this again lol
Why the trouble to add a crank trigger rather than using the stock CAS in the dizzy?

@@ConeDodger240 what tooth? Looked like 58x or 60 minus 2
@@stevenbelue5496 yes its a 60-2, we've since converted to a coil on plug setup but I'm still using the same trigger.

How much horsepower?
It's been many years since the setup was on the dyno, but at the time it was 243 wheel.
So is it your everyday go to store run errands car?
If I am getting hot food it does a fantastic job of keeping it warm.
Other than that, it's not so great of a daily driver these days. Hence the TT.
What camera did you try to not run over and demolish during the street demo part?
That is my original Go Pro Hero from 2004, still alive and ticking!
@@ConeDodger240 I thought you might've endangered a DSLR or something similar! ^^
Really cool angle.
What's the boost curve on this setup look like?
curve?

Positive displacement blowers like this will make just about full boost at pretty much any RPM you are at, which is risky and something you have to keep in mind when lugging at low rpm.
@@ConeDodger240 So based off the little video of the gauge, its like 9ish psi pretty much the whole time?
It is more linear with throttle input than it is with RPM, yes. So if you are over 50% tip in, you are at full boost, for the most part.
That lens flare tho
Move over, jj abrams... (it was accidental, this is why people have camera operates I feel)
wait wait wait a minute you only started driving in '05, kill my old ass!
That was 15 years ago my friend! Time is an illusion.
HICAS /hīkas/ (High Capacity Actively Controlled Steering). In case anyone was wondering like myself. xD
