I have felt there are too many bear spawns since they added them to the game. As the largest predator they seem to be in too great a number relative to smaller animals. Not just in the arctic, even in forests I seem to encounter bears more often than wolves now
not only that but even fully armored in bronze plate they're still a serious threat, personally I wish they were either less common or easily distracted by dropping raw meat so we can reliable evade them if we know what we're doing
Yh especially in the Arctic they seem far too common, I think they should be more dangerous but also far rarer like RN they seem almost blind but also they make no noise which is dumb a fat ass bear would definitely make snow-crunching sounds and growls and would hunt you from a mile away but they also give like almost no food considering they are multiples time the size of a human. I think they should make polar bears especially faar stronger but also rarer and more rewarding to kill also when that when they are five flint spear hits from death they run away so you have to chase them and can't just tower. although I noticed that with arctic foxes in this series too waay too many foxes for so few rabbits.

Super bad luck with the SSD, and very very unfortunate to hear that Vintage Story is being stopped. This game doesn't get enough coverage, it's absolutely incredible, and this series especially was incredible. I hope Lime picks it back up in the future, whether it's from here or a new VS series. 🤞

What I find wonderful is the terrain generation. Like honestly, watching an opened map when you zoom out a lot is mezmerizing, it's like an actuall Earth
You can place dirt only dirt on ground and then put two blocks up roof on it, after like two days dirt will turn into grass then you can break it to get dry grass
I'm loving this series. I GIVE you permission to have a temporal gear, and set your spawn. though I've found you can make a pretty easy drifter trap. ACTUALLY there's a great design the "Boiler room" that USES the hotsprings! do that, and you should have a temporal gear anyway! I say make that one of your priorities!
Cannot wait to see what you do with those hot springs! I sure hope they can be converted into greenhouses, that would make things so much easier for you. (Especially once winter hits...)
Tip for bears. STOP LOOKING BACKWARDS AT THEM. It will slow you down and you will die. Pick a direction and just full tilt sprint away as fast as you can. **DO NOT** look back until you're at least a hundred or so blocks away and/or you cant hear the bear behind you anymore.
Tip for PrivateLime videos He wants the series to end so he can move on to another series to keep his TH-cam revenue flowing. So he's obviously doing that on purpose to hopefully end this Arctic challenge in a believable excuse
Honestly, you have more patients and will power than some of us do. Maybe providing grug a pitstop between your new home and spawn can lighten the load and less of a pain when making it back home. Also think a fire place would make your home feel more cozy.

Have you considered setting up a base camp with some dried food supplies between your main base and spawn? Could come in handy for the next time a bear rips you to shreds
With how much bears are in this game with this particular settings and with how much you loose when they kill you I would carry at least 6 spears with me at all times.
@@epsilon_7448 I rushed prospectors pick (panning) then spiralled out from base following ores and picking up surface chunks. Was lucky with some exposed veins. Its such a good game, and I'm loving Pr1vateLime's run. I hope he does more of this (also would love Vtuber avatar to make appearances :))
You need to start setting up a load of bear traps, aka. 3x3 wide and 4 deep, with some escape tunnels at least 3 blocks long at the bottom incase you yourself fall into them.
Bears can't attack very far downward - if you dig a 1x1 hole 3 blocks deep then you can attack the bear to death in total safety! You do have to jump repeatedly to regain aggro when it runs away though.
God, the genuine screams of fear and desperation when that bear showed up...

Currently, deserts do not overheat you, so it would be vastly easier than this.
It's easier, there are easier to get plants and hyneas around.

you can place tools like axe, spear on floor near wall (i guess you need press ctrl + shift + RMB)
