Why do you keep forgetting that Phil Collins went all out for TARZAN? He didn’t just sing You’ll Be in My Heart in English. He also sang the short version with Kala in Latin American Spanish, German, French Castilian Spanish and Italian. His solo version was sung in English and Latin American Spanish. Though his Latin American Spanish version got as high as #32 on the Billboard Latin charts, it’s so good and I took the reins to learn it in Latin American Spanish for my friends in Mexico. The bottom line MsMojo, stop snubbing the Phil dubs of TARZAN in other languages.
I’m glad they brought up TikTok’s influence on its popularity though: if any of the songs on the list benefitted from the same amount of song-based social media that We Don’t Talk About Bruno (I know Turning Red is current), their numbers would be dramatically higher. The means of song exposure have greatly increased even since 2016ish.
I always preferred the Judy Kuhn movie version of “Colors of the wind” - the pop version to me sounds a bit artificial. I also prefer “Surface Pressure” to “We don’t talk about Bruno”, because it’s so relatable to basically each one of us in one or even more moments in our life.
Yeah, the Vanessa Williams version is way too overblown. The other "pop" covers of Disney songs on the list have the same problem. There's something so artificial and schmaltzy about them. (Also, maybe they were huge in America, but I'd never heard most of them. Can't believe they were top ten.)
"You'll be in my Heart" Always makes me cry now; It can be both a song about always loving and very much a song about loss. My dad sadly passed away in March 2020 and Tarzan was one of his favorite movies, we very much wanted to play this song at his funeral, but the audio just wouldn't play and being that it was start of Covid we didn't have anyone there who could fix it to play properly

And if you're going to talk about Lin-Manuel Miranda, you cannot forget How Far I'll Go reaching #1 for 2 weeks straight upon release and then You're Welcome Sitting at #4 for 4 weeks straight. Come now. Here's more: Poor Unfortunate Souls was #8 in 1990, Part of Your World was #3, both stayed that way for a week but worth a mention. Belle won an Oscar for Best Original Song and stayed on the top 100 at #3 for 4 weeks. Oogie Boogie Song was revitalized in 2015 and once again landed in the top 100. That song from Aladdin is the first one to go number 1 on the billboard. It was harder to go number 1 on the billboard back then. I think Aladdin should have been number 1 and encanto song number 2.
Beauty and the Beast will always be the greatest Disney song to me. I get chills when it starts playing, it makes me cry and I could honestly play it 24 hrs straight and never tire of it. When I can’t sleep, in addition to watchmojo videos, I play Disney 90’s music and Beauty and the Beast is just an absolute treasure

The Davy Crockett theme was a huge hit and topped multiple charts in it's day. It was very influential in is day. Certainly as influential as Bruno, if not more so.

As already noted, "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" reached number on Billboard's chart in 1957; in addition, "When You Wish Upon a Star" made it to #4 on Billboard's predecessor chart and "Heigh-Ho" made it to #4 on "Your Hit Parade". Chart-toppers from Disney predate the period you seem obsessed with.

I went to a school camp where we had a talent show with our cabins. My cabin decided to do popular songs sung horribly as a talent show within a talent show. We did let it go as a heavy metal song, wrecking ball as a country song, ol red (Blake Shelton) as a pop song, and radioactive as a Disney song

I actually just watched Encanto last week on disney plus and as I was watching it I was thinking, "This has to be the best soundtrack for a disney movie that I have ever heard", it was amazing, there was so many good songs on there!

We did let it go as a heavy metal song, wrecking ball as a country song, ol red (Blake Shelton) as a pop song, and radioactive as a Disney song

I still hear it every holiday season. It seriously feels like the moment, I notice it is snowing, the radio stations grab the let it go soundtrack and let it be on repeat for months on end.
They are just playing the trend game and know people would backlash if they did. If this list was made in 2014, then "Let it Go" would be #1
