- We all have favorite and not-so-favorite pieces of equipment. Here are three bits which, for various reasons, have no place in a horse's mouth.
About Herm Gailey:
Herm Gailey has spent a lifetime with horses. He is a nonprofessional rider who starts and trains his own horses to successful careers in multiple disciplines. Away from the show ring Herm retains a deep respect and appreciation for good reliable trail riding horses and believes that all horses benefit from this type of riding.

Thank you so much for sharing your years of wisdom and experience ❤
Thanks and thanks for watching.
Flirted with barbarism. Brilliantly put LOL!!
Thankfully the flirtation is over!
Thanks for the video.
You are more than welcome and thank you for watching.
The last time I saw a Tom Thumb was 50 years ago with my first pony. The pony came with her headstall and bit. The "gentleman" said it was the only bit that she'd ever used. My Dad took it and when we got home tossed the bit in the trash, and we put her in a short shank Jr. Cowhorse bit. She did very well in this bit as long as we owned her. 😂 I don't promote Shetland ponies to anyone, but she was actually docile, great tempered, and taught me a great deal about horsemanship. ❤
Good call on the Tom Thumb bit!
Thank you for this video! Looking forward to the next video of bits that you like. Best regards from Norway
Great to hear from you! The video on favorite bits should be posted sometime this week.
I like a nice Myler D-ring snaffle.
That’s what I use.
Good choice.
I couldn't agree with you more on all the bits you presented. Good video, excellent information and very good education. Thx Mr.
Thanks for your comment. Glad we agree.
I looked through your videos and couldn't find the video on the three bits you actually like. Could you pls supply the actual name of the video? I've run through your library twice and must have blown past it. Thanks so much.
You have fallen victim to some false advertising on my part. We actually got two videos reversed in sequence. The video on the bits I like should be going up in the next week or so. Hope you found something to watch in your journey through our video catalog. Thanks for watching and commenting and sorry about misleading you!
What about rubber mouth snaffle bits. Safe or worthless?
They don’t do much for me. For more information on bit materials see episode 157-Bit Metals and Materials. Thanks for watching and thanks for your question.
