      Hey! I love what you doing right now, trying to combat the struggle in the healtcommunity (and yeah, in the whole f_cking world right now).     SLEEP BETTER W/O MELATONIN:
    - Really Hot Bath for 10mins
    - Vitamin D, ideally fr Sun (if not Supplement)
    - Diverse amts of Fiber (Flax, Chia)
    - Sauna 2D/wk
    - Tart Cherry Juice

    I've been averaging 4-5 hour sleep a night for the last 3 months, it's brutal. If I go go bed early I wake up at 3am, exhausted and can't fall asleep. If I go to bed late I wake up exhausted 😩

      Let your body release the stres.
      Do excercises,
      Get expose to the morning sunlight,
      Don't stress and avoid things/thought that causes stress
      I also take magnesium before goto sleep along with D3+K2.
      go to bed early 9-10PM.
      Avoid watching mobile/tv/laptop atleast 2 hours before going to sleep.
      You can also take ashwagandha

    We probably overlook the things we DO ingest that are wrecking our sleep, instead looking for things TO take to fix it.
    Case in point: My wife gave me a watch for Christmas that tracks my sleep and heart rate variability (and a dozen other things). My sleep score averaged 38, and my HRV averaged 42. I once woke up with a “Body Battery” score of TWO… out of 100.
    I stopped drinking and gave up carbs, and now my sleep score averages 76, and my HRV averages 64. THAT’S a 2x better sleep score and a 50% increase in Heart Rate Variability.
    As a 40 something, ex bartending, big boy who hadn’t gone two days without a drink in decades, and was a certified carboholic… I’m two months clean and sold.
    I’ve also dropped 10 lbs.

      Ingesting booze or excess caffeine close to bedtime is honestly a rookie mistake, that many of us fall into.
      Issue is most people are very sensitive/insecure about their habits for many different reasons. So they'd rather complain and keep the problem rather than feel the embarrassment of being an idiot or lazy and explore it.
      You are not one of those people. You just got in there and fixed it right away once the issue was known. Good on you brother!

    There were times when I've sleep like 8.5 hours straight and still woke up feeling tired.Then there were other times I sleep a little less and felt rejuvenated.I think it comes down to the QUALITY of sleep as well.Sleep has 4 stages.All stages are important but 3 and 4 is the most critical.This is where the mind and body repairs.

    Waking around 2 or 3 can also signal liver stress. Reduce sugar and alcohol.

    magnesium glycinate, inositol, mouth taping/nose breathing are my big recommendations. never use melatonin to sleep BUT melatonin is an amazingly powerful antioxidant/anti nitrogen species crosses the blood brain barrier etc, so i take a thicc dose around once a month. but never rely on it to sleep. the warm shower is good too for the cooling effect but also direct cooling while sleeping helps a lot, turning on the AC, improving air circulation etc. lower temps make sleep better.

    Started drinking tart cherry juice about an hour before bed and I feel it is helping my sleep as it’s been improving.

      @@ggbrlr from sprouts. The brand is “Lakewood” and the nutritional label is impressive and states 10% Manganese along with many others. Tart and delicious.

      I highly recommend the Trader Joe's brand Tart Cherry juice! First, cost is better than at Sprouts. Second, unlike other brands, Trader Joe's has tart cherry sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Make sure to shake the bottle before use. You really only need about four ounces about an hour before bed time.

      @@jeffreykoski2746 yes, I actually bought Sprouts because it was having a great sale on theirs and there was only 2 bottles left but I also shop at Trader Joe’s and will look at theirs. I also only fill a small cup up about 10% full and drink that, so a very little amount.

      @@jsmith5764 not much. I fill a small cup maybe 10% full and drink that. Due to it being a small amount I have seen no issues with the sugar content affecting my sleep and instead I fall straight to sleep fast when I do get into bed. I do think anymore could affect me due to the sugar, not to mention getting up to go to the bathroom due to too much liquid. Hope that helps.

    I do bikram yoga in my bathroom twice. I use two space 9:01 and it gets to 112 degrees. Turn on the hot on the shower a few times and we are at 50-70% humidity. Nothing fancy and no sauna sleep is amazing whether I do it at night or morning. Do this 2x a week and you won’t need any published studies to know what it does.

    I work a swing shift, nights and days in the same week, it’s so hard to get quality sleep on that schedule. I take hot showers, get plenty of sun, and take vitamin D, I’ll have to try the cod liver oil and tart cherry juice.

    I had been taking 3 mg melatonin, and a little Mg threonate, for helping get a better start in sleeping. I appreciate suggestions to use baths. I don't have a sauna yet, but do have a hot tub set to 105 deg,F, and use it in the morning just after getting up, for 45 minutes to get a bit heat-stressed to encourage autophagy. Now, your suggestion of evening bath encourages me to get out to the hot tub again in the evening as well. The use of a large jet to blast large muscle groups for a bit might be helping move lymph along better too. And, early morning light exposure sure helps wake up well, by getting pineal melatonin shut off more.IMHO

    Best advice: Get your genetics tested and find out what variants you have that might be causing your insomnia.
    For me its the infamous MTHFR mutation, plus a few others

      @@larrytabor2099 he was making a joke (MTHFR sounds like motherf*cker) but you can test for the actual MTHFR gene variants by taking a 23&Me test, or Ancestry, then looking up the MTHFR genes using the RS numbers for the genes. There’s lots of info about MTHFR online. Just do a google search for the MTHFR genes and their RS numbers. If you have the variants then you should consider taking a methylfolate supplement, adding more choline to your diet (eggs are the best food source) and supplementing lecithin, and you can also take some trimethylglycine. There are nuances to supplementing for MTHFR gene mutations so don’t just rely on my suggestions here but do your research. There’s some good MTHFR blogs online that have all of the relevant information. Hope this helps.

    I work from 3:30am-8:30am 6 days a week. What do you recommend for that? I literally go to bed around 6pm. Wake up around 1:15am. According to Samsung Health I got 5hrs 49mins 76 sleep score. My job really damages my body so I want a higher deep sleep level

    What helps me sleep is bundling up well ofcourse and getting as cozy as I can get in bed. I don't like forcing myself sleep since that stresses me out to be honest. So I just put some relaxing tunes and it can be anything I want to hear. I sorta make a playlist or put rain background sounds. Basically I just try to relax. My exboyfriend would fall asleep like a log just watching tv. Whatever relaxes your mind to help you doze off just do it.

      @Dreamscape alot of the stuff he mentioned are things I learned in school. I would put away the phone before bed, don't have a TV in the bedroom, walk out in the sun during the day to absorb serotonin which converts to melatonin, drink camomile tea or lavender tea, take hot baths and go to bed while setting thermostat down. You might be able to stay asleep longer at lower AC temperatures, also with me, cutting out coffee and inflammatory foods helped alot. You may also want to check your vitamin D levels

Issue is, I think my body has transferred to a biphasic sleep schedule as I take 1h naps randomly in the afternoon. Idk if this is gd/bad bcos I've read that this might count as MOTN insomnia. Also it isn't really productive for me to be awake 3h at night & not use screens. How do I cut down the time I spend awake at night, & esp, regularize the time I take my afternoon naps? Just go to bed early?

    Except 8 hours is excessive. If you have good quality sleep then 5-6 should be optimal.

    For people like me with severe tinnitus these are useless. I'm lucky to get 3 hours before the ringing gets loud enough to wake me up... and no amount of white noise... brown noise or anything else works.. even with sleep medication I lack the ability to get REM sleep.
