New frontiers in forestry innovations

Forests are one of the planet’s greatest resources, but climate change and human impact pose growing threats.  Across the world, forestry innovations are making it possible to address some of these challenges.  
Ground-breaking technology is empowering Indigenous Peoples in Papua New Guinea to monitor deforestation and forest degradation on their land. Elsewhere new processes are generating wood-based textiles for use in the fashion industry, drone technology is helping us fight fires, and new approaches to construction are opening the door to large-scale use of sustainable wood to replace less climate friendly building materials.
